is the jailbreak a tethered or untethered one.

tethered means you have to use a comp to reboot it, like blackra1n.

well it depends if you want to connect it and put it on recovery mode or just restore it

I download the firmware and then run redsn0w and it won't recognize the IPSW. What do I do? I have jailbroken this before and then I had to restore it, now I want to jailbreak it again. It's an iPod Touch 3rd gen 3.1.2 firmware. Thanks! Also, when I use blackrain, it just freezes at the recovery and the screen of itunes and a usb plug stays there indefinitely. Please help on either issue.
