  • 3:09-3:12 SO ADORABLE!!! Goodness, I just wish I had the opportunity to be there... seeing them live. What a show that would've been! Andy's spirit is felt through videos alone, I can only imagine how it'd be to be in his presence. He seemed to be such a fun, silly person. What a beautiful person.

  • That was beautiful... Enough said.

  • @27rav Found an old cassette mix tape of Love Bone and the Melvins in my attic with a badly rolled joint inside. Know what? I light this dusty joint for Andy Wood for bringing me back to the good years. Turns out I still got tears left for this band. Thanks, rav.

  • They look like The Bulletboys, They sound like no other, and ended up being Pearl Jam... Thank you Mother Love Bone.... Andy Wood.

  • were stardog championzzz heck yezzz

  • Let's all be thankful Andrew lived long enough to make 'Apple'. It shaped my life, for one.

  • Great, rare fotage of one of the most brilliantly unique bands whose career was cut short on the cusp of stardom and before they peaked.

  • Truly rare and terrific footage of band whose career was cut short on the cusp of stardom and their prime as well. RIP Andrew as you are sorely missed by many.

  • before pearl jam there was motherlovebone, great band, great singer, great songwriter, the best, all of their lyrics made sense, long live andy wood. too fast you lived, too fast you left.

  • Been a huge fan for many a year. RIP Andrew.

  • thanks

  • ooooo it like a kick in the stomach... bye bye.. oh man...

  • Wow,... cant believe i never got into this band until now.... they were amazing .. its a fucking shame andy passed away, they would have changed everything

  • Thank you 27rav. I learned about MLB through a friend who read an interview with Ian Astbury of the Cult sometime in 1991in a metal magazine. The Love Bone Earth Affair is an aewsome testament of the pre grunge era. Andy's reference to touring arenas with Warrant is priceless.

R.I.P Andy and thank you for what you did leave behind ,and what grew from your legacy.

  • Thanks MUCH for upping this! Great interview footage of Andy, Stone and Jeff, as well as some gig footage and music vids that highlight the incredible talent of this band and Andrew Wood.

What is really poignant are Andy's comments about wanting to play the big arenas, knowing that only months later, he would be dead...and the comments from Stone and Jeff about not being in a big hurry to become rock stars, knowing that only months later, they would be exactly that...playing those big arenas.

  • Interesting comment at 5:40

"Something will happen regardless of what it is...we don't know"

Yeah Stone, something definitely did happen...

  • Man he seems so coherent and intelligent, here I wouldn't have guessed him for a junkie. Clearly he was pretty bad though.

  • @alcoyot You don't have to be a junkie to OD. Just takes one time.

  • Hello MLB fans! In case of possible deleting my account because of 2 suddenly warnings from Youtube, here's the way to keep The Love Bone Earth Affair forever on your pc/mac/whatever :D

go to keepvid.com and paste the link of this video . After some time You'll be able to download few types of this recording.

    PEACE ;)

  • @27rav Rav, thank you so much for posting this! They've been among my favorite bands for more than 20 years now, and I am grateful that you put this up. I recall fondly seeing them at the Cat Club in NYC in '89. Amazing!

I second celticc1 - they were so very special - and entirely too brief.

  • @lithicman ;)

  • Wow! Incredible! If only Andy had lived! He was a force to be reconed with, in his short time on this planet.

  • What magic. Stone you are amazingly wise..."Something will happen..." well something sure as FUCK did happen. We lost Andy Wood, one of the greats of all time, but we got one hell of a band out of it all. And that band still plays Crown of Thorns in their live set to this day in his memory. Amazing.

Boy, if you guys only knew...

  • these guys awesome.. love the music everything... RIP Andrew Wood....

  • mother love bone is such an amazing band! it is so unfair that they were cut short! it only happens to the good ones it seems!

  • Don't flame me guys - I thought this then (yes, I listened to MLB back in 1990), but for the time and the way society was 20 years ago, I think Andrew would have been too effeminate to have been a big star.

  • Wood and Vedder are as different as David Lee Roth and Michael Stipe... though, very talented (in different ways) the four of them!

  • Hey man I appreciate the vids great music

  • Amazing band, amazing songs, unbelievable charisma! Such a shame, but at least we got one legendary record!

  • R.I.P Andrew Wood - CaptainHighTop

  • And to think Stone and Jeff had no idea they would be apart of one of the biggest bands in the country in just two years.

  • Stone and Jeff's comments from 4:54 - 6:04 sent a chill down my spine. They had no idea what was about to happen...

  • @SgtSlaughter69 shannon ..... shannon hoon he was a coke head...... not smack...

  • Shannon was more of what they call a "garbage head", from what I understand he'd take pretty much whatever was around. He certainly was known to delve into heroin, but ultimately he did die of a cocaine overdose. Not heroin... what does it really matter anyway... these are all people who died from substance abuse and they were all amazing people who were gone far too soon... Im not one to talk really, but drugs do suck...

  • From my understanding Shannon was the kind of guy whod take whatever was around. He certainly abused heroin at points in his life, ultimately cocaine stopped his heart. It doesnt really matter what these talented, wonderful people took, they all DIED from substance abuse. That sucks! Im not one to really say, but drugs suck. And they DO actually kill. I dont know exactly what causes these people to do this. I believe its genetic, a disease. I also thought of MLB this week to find its been 20,RIP

  • Sorry bout the double post...

  • legendary band

  • He's been such an inspiration to me, Andy that is, as a lyricist.

"Stargazer you call the shots...and I take 'em."

  • I love that title...Stardog Champion...I dont know what it means exactly, but whatever it was...that was Andy. He was the Stardog Champion.

  • Stardog, I think, is a record company or something, but not sure.

  • It became a record company, but I think that was after Mother Love Bone broke up. Not sure though.

  • @codebabe

Stardog was initially a gift from Polydor to keep the band interested and prevent them from signing elsewhere. I'm not sure it was designed to function or even exist beyond the Shine E.P. though. But, I believe Ugly Kid Joe had something released on Stardog in the early '90's after MLB ended.

  • agree

  • RIP ANDY

    RIP LAYNE

    RIP KURT

  • @Teabaggersareidiots Don't forget RIP Shannon!

  • Andy had such a contagious smile!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!!

Stone says "something will happen"..It did, I'm happy for them it did! RIP Andy, you'll never be forgotten!

  • OMG...thanks for the links; I will be checking those out ASAP! Another one for the list would be Layne Staley...it's late at night or I'd have loads more. What a great project! I thought of Shannon b/c the other day my mp3 player (with maybe 10,000 songs in) put Blind Melon's "Galaxie" on, and it's been ages since I've heard that good song...

  • Thanks for riffing on what I said and adding what I missed! :o) You added Elliot's name to that list, which is proper. I'd add Shannon (Hoon) as well, also Kurt. More to come, but thank you! We'll come up with a collective perfect list!

  • the band Made it big not Andrew cause he died--mother love bone is Now Pear Jam..and they made it big. eDDY vEDDER KICK ASS ALSo

  • Much thanks!!!

  • Second that, 27rav - thanks a million for uploading this wee snapshot of a great band on the verge of somethin' really big - was not to be though. They were very special in their all too brief history.

  • Thanks I appreciate that ;)

  • Hay 27rav, thanks a mill for uploading this. I got the VHS tape back in 1992, but that's kinda gummed up and it's been ages since I've watched it,so stumbling across this was amazing. Not many people have heard or remember MLB,but they were an integral part of making the whole "Seattle scene" happen and it wouldn't have been the same without them, despite the fact Andy checked out way too soon, even before their debut. I'm sure he's having a ball in Olympus, finally catching what he was chasing..

  • that was real...

a lot a bands came and went.

Mother Love Bone was one of the very best sounds I've ever heard!

    Thanks you guys...
