  • Wow. Barbara Streisand's daughter in-law (Josh Brolin's wife). Heard B. Streisand say how proud she is to have her in her family. What a talent!

  • Love this tune ... thank you for posting it by Diana. She is s fine musician!! ♪

    Happy New Year ALL!

  • Just enjoy the great voice!

  • Truly Amazing! But then, who'd expect less from this classy, talented lady. For a male version (live in concert) to compare and contrast, search "What are you doing New Years Eve? Terrence O'Brien" and let me know what you think... similarities, differences???

  • Diana deserves better than 240p

  • I don't understand how Diana Krall gets 100K viewing as opposed to some of the crap that's floating virtually...

  • Fantastic arrangement; kudos's also to the Canadian gem; for awesome work on this Vocals only number for hear!

  • always love diana. but i vote for nancy wilson on this tune.

  • Ella was great, but Diana has greater range of expression, and is a pretty good piano picker, too, even if not playing here.

  • awesome, really awesom!

  • i love this women

  • She's really something. ;-)

  • O..........M...........G

  • Beautiful tune and she does it justice. I only wish that radio stations would allow longer songs. This was kept under 5 min. to satisfy air play... If this was done in Billie Holiday's time, you'd also get to hear an amazing solo by Lester.

  • This is for my sweetie! I would love to be with you this New Years Eve in NM! All my love to you..........Hope you have a Happy New Year!

  • Diana Krall can clearly sing her butt off but I like Nancy Wilson's version a bit better. It is more hopeful. This one is so melancholy.

  • Хорошая песня!!!

  • You're so lovely Diana! :) Merry Christmas everyone, Joy to the world!

  • i know i will spend my new years alone... i love this song though

  • The horns remind me of NYC.....everytime I hear them....

  • how can i do love her?such a great job!!

  • Look it up Diana is the best selling jazz singer of all time, and this the reason way, She is just outstanding. Her style and voice are unbeatable.

  • You are correct, the mic one of the origional Capitol Studios U47's. As a matter of fact, it is one of the ones Frank used.

  • Love this song and have many versions by different artists and this is by far the best. The mood she creates, the feeling she puts into the song the way the orchestra plays is more than first class it's in a league of it's own.

  • This is the most gorgeous song I think I've ever heard and this recording literally made me cry because it's SO beautiful! The arrangement and Diana's voice and composure... pure bliss!

  • I think she is fantastic ... !!

  • I Like this best Song Thanks and Happy New Year 2010...

  • I am a musician/singer. Most tunes have "A" (the first 8 bars) with one set of lyrics, then "A" is repeated with a DIFFERENT set of lyrics. Then comes along "B", the bridge, the middle part. Then back to "A" again, with YET ANOTHER different set of lyrics. No wonder Barbara S. and others go nuts with the fear of forgetting the lyrics. INSIST on prompters.

I sit at the piano like Diana. If I were a Stand Up Singer ...

    forget it!! **STRESS**!!

  • I do not believe that singing is her forte- stick to the piano...Julie London comes to mind. HOwever, her jazz piano interpretations really cooks....Diane is way up there in the stratosphere with all the greats. Tatum, Peterson, Tristano, Sharon, Garner. etc etc - no other living artist can come near her today.

  • @leega8010 you are a wise human being

  • All this negative criticism...you're all full of it.

  • I love her and the song.

  • ZZZZZZZZZ, I LOVE HER..but his was NOT her best

Maybe it's the mic or the band but she just seems 'off'

Wish I didn't have to say that..but I have to

  • how could anyone critique diana ....she is the best musician in the world

  • This is a pleasant version of the song, but I much, much prefer Ella's.

  • Why is she reading off of sheet music? Was this her first time singing it?

  • She is known as The Reluctant Singer! We should be thankful for anything she gives us!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dramablondi13

"Why is she reading ??" - it's pretty simple if you think about it - !st, it's not uncommon for professional musicians (including Ms Krall !!) to sight read and

2nd, this is a song you can only sing on one night a year....not too many opportunities to perform the song.

  • Don't care for this one!!

  • that mic is probably one of the U47 Telefunkens from the original Capitol studios. they go back to the 50s. they are priceless.

  • Exquisite! It's the only word that truly captures Krall's jazzy genius and sexy stylings. Impossible to duplicate. I just listen raptly and in awe. And I'm a jazz torch singer. Whew! She's the goddess.

  • Anyone know what kind of microphone she is using?

    I want that mic!

  • she sings this song best

  • This song can makes me cry. I listen to this even when it is not Christmas. Remind me many things that I live on 2006. Thanx for uploading

  • i have this cd, great one. i listen to it even when it's not christmas.

  • I tell ya!! Some of the best music there is, is Christmas music.

  • I always listen to this song on NYE, but this year I will be dancing to it with my boyfriend down in Destin, Fl

  • I like the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra,

    and Diana!

    wonderful!

  • Nice animation at the start guys...

  • superbe comme toujours .Respect .

  • Really nice band...love the muted horns effect...really compliments Diana's voice.

  • i love all her songs ^^

  • I am sick, i feel very depressed that New Years Eve and christmas are over.

  • Happy New Year from Canada!!! 2009

  • Spendin' time with my family & doggies!

Wonderful song! Happy New Year from California!

  • makes me feel good to hear this tonight

  • Happy New Year to all!...Believe me, Diana isn't among the missing tonight..She has a gig somewhere and going home with Elvis Costello.........HAPPY 2009!!!

  • Simply beautiful..the song and the singer.Happy New Year to everyone

  • I heart Diana Krall!

  • Perfect!

  • awesome...

  • @livelaughlovegirl101 Keep your negativity to yourself. This is the holidays!

  • She is a special singer.

There are not many singers who can sing so that lyrics may be read.

The wonderful reaction to the lyrics

  • She does a great job with this. It's perfect for her style and vocal range. It is, indeed, a very sad song.

  • zeta zeta zeta

  • A flawless interpretation of this song!!

  • Awesome. I think she looks lovely here, like her naturally beautiful self.I Love her,and hubby Elvis C. so much! Two geniuses.

  • Jackpot question in advance? who's the best jazz vocalist? ... Diana Krall !

  • this vid does her pretty face definitely NO good... but her voice is amazing!

  • man i tried to get into this but its not doing anything for me, she looks and sounds bored and it comes across as boring.

  • She's not bored, she's sad. It's about someone you've recently met and like around new years. And maybe you've exchange numbers but they haven't called even though you hinted around that you want to spend new years eve with them. and if they don't call to spend new years eve with you, then at midnight she/he will be kissing someone else that night. while you, maybe, are spending new years eve alone.

  • Did you even listen to the lyrics? Most singers ruin this song. A singer who once again faces the loneliness of no one to be with the one night of the year you do not want to be alone.

The lyrics tell you, they dont feel they have any chance of getting a date. The song delivers that internal hollow feeling of being alone. She sings this song as good as it can be done. The lingering tones of the subdued brass extend the air of loneliness. One of the best jazz recordings I have ever heard.

  • @charles43110 that is EXACTLY why I love Jazz and Diana in particular (mose allison is my other fave). The lyrics, the music, the engineering...YOU never have a bad time with jazz. I love the expression close enough for jazz :) that's my life's motto :) xo

  • @charles43110

If you listened to the lyrics you'd realize the two subject in the song are already dating (although casually) as denoted by the line "maybe it's much to early in the game"...she isn't emoting she's sing like she sings everything else. She possesses the emotive qualities of a re-animated corpse.

  • @TheJalex11 I know the song well. She is off the charts popular right now. If you dislike her SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH why do you waste your life haunting a blog about her? Are you so pathetic that you have nothing of real value to do with your time except to be snotty with people who enjoy her?

You are a miserable person. You make me smirk at you. You actually believe your doing something to irritate me. You are so nasty your like a cartoon character. It must be awful being you.

  • @charles43110

I rather enjoy being me!! I also enjoy that I can articulate an argument instead of resorting to person attacks. If you get so upset by any opinion that counters your own I'd suggest not posting your views at all. I was looking for versions of this song and came across this video. I wouldn't have commented at all except that I thought you disregarded a key line in your assessment of the lyrics. As I said if you don't want to be countered don't join a discussion.

  • @TheJalex11

You have infantile taste, no discernment, express yourself poorly and don't know anything about artistic vocalization. Her voice is stunning and her tecnique is one of the best ever.

  • @barugna

You don't know my tastes, so you can't comment on that. Buy an Ella Fitzgerald CD and maybe you'll learn something about artistic vocalization.

  • diana thanks for your voice

  • Yeah, Diana's great. Did you know that the context of this song as it was originally written (by Frank Loesser) was that it's being sung in March or something like that? Totally changes things when you think about it. But it's become a Christmas song, which is okay, because it's a great tune.

  • This is a great rendition of a great song.

Check out Nancy Wilsons' version. It is fantistic also.

Can't understand why anyone should question Elvis Costellos' association with Diana Krall. They area fantastic couple.

    Thanks for sharing this gem.

  • Thanks for posting, good version. I think the best version is Johnny Mathis, too bad I can not find it on you tube!

  • Harry Connick, Jr. does a fantastic job w/ it as well.)

  • WHAT do you mean what is she doing with Elvis Costello? He is freakin brillant and an amazing musician and person. Hard qualities to pass up, I'd say. She is simply INCREDIBLE with an INCREDIBLE husband

  • right on

  • Dianna baby. I have something wonderful for you, you will never forget. Love you hon. Love your piano and singing. This number is being done at too slow a beat. But, love you anyway babe.

  • Simply AWESOME. What is she doing with Elvis Costello. Jimmy5X has something for her!!!!!!

  • she is with elvis costello becuase he wouldnt be such an ass to say "have something here for you". nice technique and will see you marry a girl your mama would be proud of

  • Hey bro, I'm with you. Obviously some people can't take a joke.

Anyway, another wonderful contribution to the musical world by Krall. And to think I once heard her say something about how she only sings because she's waiting for somebody better to come along. No doubt, a wonderful piano player...but that voice! Amazing!

  • diana has an angelic voice.she's beautiful an kind.

  • Can anyone tell me if Diana is going to be going on tour anytime soon in 2008???? If so when please if there is anyone that may know can you tell me please.

  • Happy New Years from the Drunken Pirate HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

  • Great horn arrangement!!

Elvis Costello is a lucky man.

  • that jazz orchestra is amazing!

  • Love her!

  • Very smooth and wonderful music. Happy New Year 2008 and God bless all men of good will. Grandpa Clarence

  • Hi Grandpa Claence - you and I could share a lot great music I think !!!

    "Grandma Tove"

  • Arrangement is what makes this performance....for me, anyways...

  • i listened diana krall one day and i liked alot of the songs on that album , but really, i had the impresion that she is an afro-american woman....later i saw a picture and i was so...amazed...conclusion - Lovely voice

  • Diana is wonderful. Her voice is amazing.

  • Diana is amazing in this video. thank you for posting.

  • Diane is great. Arrangement for the brass sensational.
