  • Very brave of you to post this

  • @maldoman23 yes I know, we have already recieved a very horrible comment before and it worries me but we post these types of videos for information..... he is much older now, 7 1/2 years and very high functioning so we sill be taking down his videos soon....

  • have you gotten him into any special activities? like playing any musical instrument? it is possible that he can develop savant-like skills in something. when he gets that focused into the metal egg whatever goes thru his mind is unexplainable to the typical human being.

  • @AnteroX1234 He likes chess, art, and video games.....

  • The American attitude to autistic children and children with other needs is so much more heartening than it is in England. Over here it's more common to get depressed about the whole thing. Parents have killed their children for not fitting the criteria. To actually seek to love your children and understand them over here is not as high up most parents priorities as controlling them and making them conform.

  • my son shakes, but normally after he wakes up. we are doing another eeg now. litterally right now. we are doing a 72 hr EEG at home. He also twitches BAD right before he sleeps. IDK what it is & the doctor doesn't know either, that would be why we are doing another EEG. He had one at 3 months old. now he is 3 yrs old. When he is woke up he shakes, but can't do anything while shaking, can't stand, walk or talk while its happening. but its not seizures. any suggestions?

  • omg ive never thought id fine anyone elts who shook like that i do that exsacted same thing!!! and allwes have thats intoresting

  • My son does the same thing. Especially at things spinning, and when he is watching something and gets excited. He also does the flapping hands and he will walk back and forth in a line humming to himself while flapping his hands. He was diagnosed at 4 with Autism. He is pretty high function though and does well considering.

  • He is SOOOOOO cute

  • Hes so cute :) If I was a mom it would be really scary to see that shaking If I didnt know the cause

  • i thought this was a song by stimming...

  • This video has me in tears. My five year old daughter does this but more intensely. She is seeing a child behaviorist next month, finally. She was screened at 2 for autism and it was ruled out. She started at 18 months and has added to her stims since. She only does this when she is playing, excited, and especially during imagination play and in the car. She is very social but now her stimming is causing her peers to think that she is "weird" Any advice for me to take to the Dr.?

  • @dmcrossman9478

I'm glad to hear of another child who stims but does not have autism; I used to do very intense hand-flapping as a child, but do not have autism (though now I understand why my parents panicked). I don't have an advice for you to take to your doctor, but I know that as a child, I was often unaware that I was even doing it. Perhaps you could mention to her when she starts? Good luck! :)

The video is completely adorable, by the way. I love how intense he is spinning the egg.

  • This video has me in tears! My daughter does this same thing. She started when she was 18 months and her stims have become more intense and frequent over the years. She is now 5 and just started kindergarten. She was screened at 2 for autism and it was ruled out along with seizures (by a neurologist). She is a very social child and plays well with other children, but now her stimming is causing her peers to think that she is "weird". We are seeing a child behaviorist next month. Any advice

  • My brother has autism.....he loves things that spin, he loves animals, and machines(like trucks....etc.)he also loves trains :) Hes very sweet but also has his melt downs.....but that usually only happens when there is too much going on....or doesnt get what he wants.....but most of all everyone loves him :D(BTW: im his older sister)

  • malaria causes these symptoms

  • He's a cutie!!!

  • Your son is very beautiful :o)

My son is 3 1/2 years old and does that same thing. I thought it was a "Ethan" thing ( because he only did it when he was happy) and I never realize that the "shakes" might be an autism trait.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • my little boy does the shakes too he has since he was tiny. He is now only 24 months. He got his first diagnosis at 9 months.

  • @kkcustomized has he had an 24 hr EEG to rule out seizures? just a thoght........

  • @cricket1r not yet but he will as soon as he can sleep through the night. They want to do an overnight sleep study with him but they are almost certain he doesn't have seizures.

  • I know a child who does the shaking thing when he stims. Or this child will also sit with a silly expression, and mouth open while stimming, as well.

  • He is looking at himself in the reflection of the egg, children with autism often like to look in mirrors especially

if the reflection is warped or distorted! I know a child who loves looking in the metal nozzels of hand dryers in bathrooms!

    He is a cutie!

  • I never thought about that! I bet he is looking at himself but he also will do this with the color ones too but stiming on himself withthe mirriored one may explain the reason why he got more excited about the silver egg when she showed it to him and why he prefers it more often than the colored eggs................GREAT comment!

  • Interesting. I bite my fist sometimes like he did towards the end. I also love watching things spin. I love small tops with neat designs on them. I bet I could wake up, spin a top all day, skip every meal without realizing it, and go to bed. That would be a really, really good day.

  • @AutisticWhoLives4God Thank you for telling us what this boy is feeling when he spins the egg....You just gave these young children a voice....Thank you :)

  • @loverr10 You're welcome. I feel honored by your comment.

  • Does he have any other autistic behaviors? If so, what?

  • speech delay, echololia, social defecits, little eye contact.......well everything to get an Autism diagnosis LOL...........I mean did you have a specific "behavior" you wanted to know he did? Glad to share info............. Keep in mind he is now "High functioning Autism" vs when he was first DX, I have some videos of him back then that are horrible vs now :) the autism now is almost not noticeable untill you really interact with him for a while, then you can tell.

  • He use to do hand flapping (big time) with getting up on his tippy toes and looking up at the celling (or whatever was getting him excited) mouth open and making a "lamaze" breathing noise. Now it's just very little hand flapping (where he catches himself doing it) and still the "shaking"(alot) while holding his breath and eye stimming at the same time. He does it so much I get comments if he is "OKAY" or people even move their kids away from him like he has a disease.

  • @cricket1r

my son has been flapping his hands since he was a baby and getting on his tippy toes whenever he gets excited. he also grinds his teeth and does this sucking thing when he holds onto his "mimi" (blanky) but he has no other delays and is very social. have you ever been concerned about autism with your son?

  • @jamieenfield yes after I found out that the handflapping was mainly an autistic trait. He had a lot of the other traits too, little eye contact, speech delay, social deficit, repetative behaviors. He was diagnoses at risk for autism at 2 1/2 and given a diagnosis Autistic at 3 1/2 then at his reevaluation when he was 5 1/2 he was given a "firm" diagnosis of Autism but as far as function goes he is considered high functioning.

  • im a behavior specialist. this type stimming is far way more appropriate then some of the other stims i deal with. more children stim by slapping, or by flicking paper, or by litting stuff.

  • My child does the exact shaking, hand flapping, mouth opening.

She does not have autism however.

  • is she typical or PDD-NOS? just curious.....

  • No, she does not have PDD-NOS. She is a normal kid. The only thing she does that it autistic like is the extreme hand flapping with facial tic (mouth opening) and leg shaking every time she is excited or proud.

  • Have you had her evaluated by an expert in Autism? If it's not Autism, perhaps it is something that can be easily corrected.

  • Sorry for my bad english, I´m german.

I am really fascinated. My son (6 years old) has also high functioning autism and he stims just like your son.
