good videos but i offer some help with number ten: because we are human. we will do stupid human things. we will be selfish at times and irrational. we will take for granted the things that we should value. relationships are hard work, that is why they fail. christian relationships fail because the people in them don't put God first. if they did that they would be okay but they dont because we humans have a bad habit of not putting God first.
On question 6, you said "The bible says there aren't good people"
OK, fair enough. Let me rephrase it.
Why does bad things happen to people who do good things? (doing good things doesn't necesseraly make you a "good person")
If bad things are going to happen equally to people who do good things and to people that do bad things then why even bother doing good things? If your god is going to let bad things happen to you even if you try to obey him, then why bother?
As a general rule God does not work by a Qui pro Quo-system. That is, he doesn't offer earthly benefits to those who will obey him, although this is a common misconception among biblically illiterate Christians. The rewards he promises are heavenly rewards. While we're on earth, he "sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous" (Matt 5:45)
That being said--as strange as it might sound to those who haven't experienced it--Godly living is a pleasure in itself.
because anything we receive is greater than what we deserve.
and he does bless us all just maybe not in the way that we always want.
but the same is for children and their parents. a kid doesn't realize that his parents are looking out for him by denying him some things but his parents see the world differently.
no, just because wouldn't make it known that those things happened under his authority and because he allowed it to happen and since he allows it to happen it has to be his will.
the statement "just because" could cover chance, not decisive will :)
1.Yes, god could prevent A LOT of UNNECESSARY suffering by stopping tsunamis and earthqueakes, but yet he doesn't do it. He CAN, but he doesn't do anything about it.
2.Not everyone can help the starving children. There are some people that have the resources to do it, and yet they dont lift a finger. Those people are selfish, uninterested pricks.
Your god could help them too if he wanted to, yet he doesn't do it, what does that make him?
1. lets say we've proven that to be true. now you have to define "unnecessary" by ffirst defining "necessary" within the context of your argument. ready set.. go.
2. six billon people can't help? if everyone cared enough it would get done but they dont so it doesnt. why should God swoop in and correct the error of man?
that doesn't make God anything. he is, then things happen, in that order. he is dependent upon nothing.
how is it God's fault that greed and hate turned their country into a warzone?
if my kid doesn't know any better but at some point i'm gonna leave that little bugger to his own devices because if you always save the day people always expect you to save the day.
so if God did fix all of our problems not only would that be eliminating free will but it would also teach us nothing in the process.
there would be no reason to learn because our free will would be gone.
Thanks mate. Feel free to expound on how you would answer that question. I have also had a go at it previously at my video called "Trying to become an atheist".
Ok, i think you made sort of a mistake on number 10...
"If you do not obey the Bible than you are probably not a Christian."
I think you meant, "If you do not try and do not really want it in your heart to obey and follow the Bible, than you are probably not a Christian."

Believers ask for evidence every minute of every day, except when they open the bible. Then evidence means NOTHING anymore.

"a kid doesn't realize that his parents are looking out for him by denying him some things but his parents see the world differently"
Sorry, but a parent that doesn't let his children eat candy IS NOT the same as your god letting thousands of children starve to death in Africa
avrajam 2 years ago
i'm sorry but you're going to need to explain how people can have choice and yet be incapable of doing bad things.
they are mutually exclusive concepts.
so if you can i'd love to hear how you solve that impossible riddle.
makotoS13 2 years ago
And you're totally right.
If everybody has free will it is completely reasonable that someone is going to do bad things.
Hell, if you give free will to 60 billion people is almost guaranteed that bad shit is going to happen.
That is to be expected.
What is not is bad things happening WHILE it exists an omnipotent, loving, caring, etc etc "god".
That is the point of that question. If there is no god is completely understandable why all the bad things in the world happen.
(part 1)
avrajam 2 years ago
it does make sense if that God gave them the choice.
anonazero 2 years ago
(part 2)
While if there is a god, it just raises the old dilema..
Why he doesn't do something about all of this unneccesary suffering?
Is he willing but not able? Then he is not omnipotent
Is he able but not willing? Then he is malevolent
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him "god"?
avrajam 2 years ago
the answer is simple: it is his will that things we perceive to be bad happen.
anonazero 2 years ago
Well isn't that convenient =)
That's the same as saying "Just because"
avrajam 2 years ago
no, just because wouldn't make it known that those things happened under his authority and because he allowed it to happen and since he allows it to happen it has to be his will.

The existence of evil itself contradicts the notion of an all loving god
Wouldnt you do ANYTHING in your power in order to keep your children safe and happy?
I know I would, and I know many other parents in the world would too
And we're not "all loving"
You pick any parent that loves his child, for the sake of argument, imagine your father or your mother is omnipotent
Iam sure that they would never let anything bad happen to you
Why do we, humans, show more love to one another than your "god"?
avrajam 2 years ago
"The existence of evil itself contradicts the notion of an all loving god"
philosophically this question is based on faulty logic:
bad is the absence of good just as dark is the absence of light. evil isn't the opposite of goodness, it is the absence of it.
with 6 billion people on earth all having free will it would be impossible to give free will AND keep all of them from doing anything bad.
it would be total cosmic counter productivity.
anonazero 2 years ago
"with 6 billion people on earth all having free will it would be impossible to give free will AND keep all of them from doing anything bad"
I kinda undestand you there
Supposing there is a god and he gave us free will it wouldn't be free will if he stopped us every time we're about to do something bad
However he could stop natural disasters
He could stop tsunamis
He could stop earthquakes
He could give mana to all the starving children in Africa that haven't do anything wrong
So why doesn't he?
avrajam 2 years ago
so your two questions are:
1. why doesn't God stop the weather
2. why doesn't God help people that people could help
makotoS13 2 years ago
1.Yes, god could prevent A LOT of UNNECESSARY suffering by stopping tsunamis and earthqueakes, but yet he doesn't do it. He CAN, but he doesn't do anything about it.
2.Not everyone can help the starving children. There are some people that have the resources to do it, and yet they dont lift a finger. Those people are selfish, uninterested pricks.

1.Example of "necessary" suffering:
-to suffer in order to realize you're doing something wrong, as in the same way that physical pain alerts us we're fucking up something on our body
NOT necessary:
-Senseless killing, starvation (to people who's only mistake was to be born under extreme poverty)
2-"why should God swoop in and correct the error of man?"
Why shouldn't he?
If your kid did something wrong wouldn't you help him? even if it wasn't in any way your fault?
avrajam 2 years ago
how is it God's fault that greed and hate turned their country into a warzone?
