I thinks its beautiful that you gave this fox some food since its seems to be skinny and starving. God Bless you for being the loving caring person you seem to be
Well done for leaving bits of food scattered around. The fox looks really healthy and sharp. If that was going on in my garden, I'd never go to work. Bryan, Hayes, West London
@Gazolba True and i agree with that but whats strange is that the fox only ripped my rabbits head off and left the body with some parts of the head so obviously it wasn't purely for food it was just that damn stupid predatory instinct of theirs.
@Amolicious I live in central ont...just above Toronto....and we've had warnings in the media not to let our cats outside if we've seen foxes on or around our property. Apparently The wild fox around here has been known to kill and eat cats. So, I would'nt be encouraging yours to chase them...
tina. that is a tesystem make statemamt. do you watch ALL the foxes, ALL the time? I say a fox chase my cat and assure you, the fox was after food. Luckily I was there to protect my cat. so it is true. I have witnessed it. Foxes are wild animals and will do anything to survive. And that includes killing!
It is not only foxes we have too worry about here....we have Racoons, possums, coyotes, and lynx. But do you really think i am going too keep my animals locked up 24/7 because of it? I had Gem from a small kitten i knew how she was . She was one very balsey & tough cat and i loved her to pieces & not a day goes by i do not think of her. She is missed more than u could know.
there were two foxes living in my neighbor's back yard up untill this summer (some jackass decided to shoot them) they were always a joy to watch and never hurt any neighborhood animals
never start feeding or encouraging fox's in to your garden here in the uk a couple of months ago a fox went into a family's house & badly mauled 2 babies in their cot, their faces were badly cut & they received many stitches
Great video! I really enjoyed watching so thanks for posting it. I have a similar accent to yours lol, it's mostly London mixed with Mid-West American. I call it a Mid-Atlantic accent and it's always a cause for conversation.
We had a mother fox and her kits in the woods behind our home this spring; one day mother didn't come back and the kits were only about 6-7 weeks old. They wandered up to our backyard, so I started putting food out for them because they were far too young to be on thier own. Two were killed during the night by another animal but happily one has grown and is now a young adult fox. I plan to stop feeding him when this bag of food runs out so it can learn to survive unaided in time for winter.
Foxes, like any wild animal, have the propensity to be killers. By and large, however, foxes are mostly inquisitive and friendly, and seem more likely to play a game with your pets than eat them (I have witnessed this twice, once in my own back yard and once in my ex's grandmother's).
Still, it is better to take precautions and keep your pets inside. They are still wild animals, and if they are hungry they will not hesitate to kill and eat.
This is not so much starving fox. Its just a cub, maybe 5 or 6 months old.Thats why it looks slender. Its not starved, its just not as weary as an adult fox would be. And here in UK, urban foxes are the No1 predator of pet cats!!!! So be warned!!!!

@alanjs1 You dumb hear & beliver. Foxes don't hunt live cats. They bearly come close to anything that is alive. They just eat carcasses usually but alive rabbit or a bird is yummy of course. It depends on the fox what he/she prefers but usually at least no cats (sharp clawes you know).
@alanjs1 urban foxes are the way they are becaus epeople moved in on their ground and built up the area. they got bold because we made it easy for them...but having said that my cat plays with the fox that lives in our garden and they share the same tunnels. they arent all vicious...
@alanjs1 It is simply not true that urban foxes in the UK kill Cats. Sorry but there is no supporting evidence whatsoever. Foxes are frightened of cats and almost never stand up to them. Foxes killing cats is an urban myth simple as that. The cats are being killed by cars and kids.

I had a fox follow me around a job site in Michigan City, Indiana - south end of lake Michigan a few years ago. He got within six feet of me and I got a few good pictures. Unusual for a developed area but it was close by the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore better known for its overpopulation of deer. I live in the west Chicago burbs where coyote sightings are becoming commnon, saw one 100 feet away from me a few months ago while shoveling snow.
Hello everyone & thank you to all of you for the Comments. My cat is far from Young she will be 18 yr's old this October so is far from being young. She just has alot of balls lol......She has always been able to take care of herself....That being said i am more concerned about the amount of coyotes we are getting around here than any fox.
@Amolicious A healthy cat will not be taken by a fox, but without trees a cat has no chance against a coyote.
In a city near my house dead cats started to show up. They were killed in such a way that people thought the cats were being used by devil worshipers in their cerimonies. It turned out all the cats were old and declawed and they were killed by a fox.
Cool vid. Your experience with foxes has been better than mine. I recently shot a fox because it had been stalking our cats and almost got one when we left him outside.
Beautiful animals but don't be deceived by youtube vids. Foxes make minced meat out of cats around here.
Beautiful fox. It looks thin but it's very young - less than a year and hasn't grown the big fluffy coat that adults have in the winter. I have foxes in my garden and photos of them year round and in the summer they look thin and scruffy and in the winter their coats are glorious!
Ah. Canada. That explains it. At first I thought you were from the west country (England) because your accent is like English with a rhotic R. Anyway... >_>
Such a beautiful fox. The fox v cat thing scares me though as I have a cat who is terrified to go out at night because of all the foxes. He does sometimes go out though and it really worries me that a fox may attack my cat. I even read somewhere that a fox was seen grabbing a cat and running off in to woods with the cat in it's mouth. Scarey stuff. Your cat seems very feisty tho, unlike my cat who is definately a scaredy cat lol.
my old cat was killed by a fox,i saw the fox kill her, minde you my cat was very old,the vet said thats the first cat killed by a fox in 30 years of being a vet,a young cat can handle a fox easy the vet told me
Domestic Cats, Dogs and Eagles actually prey upon foxes. I've read that when I was in elementary school. Red Foxes run faster than Greyhounds despite being so small.
OK..Let's get one thing straight here that some seem to missing....The fox was attracted to my garden because of the gooseberry bush nothing else....I also have wine grapes and plum trees that grow in my garden as well as a vegetable Garden.....That is what attracted him in the 1st place.
you have a beautiful garden and a beautiful vistor and for the ppl debating down there of course a chicken lover is gonna hate a fox they kill there stock but the fox is the only dog species that do not travel in pack goes out on its own hunting for food so yeah you see a big buffet ud would go after it to
You dare tell me that I'm not an animal lover?! I have a flock of 21 chickens and I love them. I dare you to tell me that I'm not an animal lover! But I don't like foxes as they ALWAYS carry rabies and they KILL chickens!
So you love chickens - but foxes cuz they somehow do whats natural and eat chickens, Why dont you hate human beings for eating chickens too? Why dont you hate Cats for killing birds or mice? You see how hypociritical you sound?
The European Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) was intentionally introduced on the east coast of Australia by English settlers around the 1860s. Because of their opportunistic feeding habits and few natural predators foxes quickly spread throughout most of Australia.
Because of their nonspecific eating habits fox populations will not crash once they reduce their prey to low numbers, instead they switch to other sources of food. Thus foxes always maintain sufficient numbers to prevent the recovery of many prey species and have contributed to the decline & extinction of eighteen Australian animals, including ten from WA.
Due to the resilience and versatility of foxes, only human intervention will help control this pest species.
I m not that sure about them doing so well ... Check back your sources , I know specialists who say the opposite you say.... Foxes are slowly decreasing.
What you mean they arent innocent? you ever met a "mean" animal? I think they feed it and they were right I would have done the same !! People kill so many foxes just for their TAIL...Is it innocent??Foxes are nice animals...And going to exctinct...
wow look at his/her ears swivel all the time, I swear that (and probably most) foxes are on edge 24/7. They always seem so constantly alert as if their hearts a goin a mile a minute. Great vid by the way, good quality and interestin to watch too
I would hardley compare this video to what you are doin in BC........LOL...I am all for protecting and helping wildlife.......But in no way at all am i creating living conditions for this animal around my home......Have not seen him since late last summer now.......
They never stay around a place for long if there is no food available...We do have alot of rabbits around here though. Will he show up again this summer? I don't know.....We did have a coyote out side our place at 5.30am a few weeks back. Only time i have seen him.....I am in southwestern ontario by the way.
LoL, Ur cat's funny. I am still helping them all I can, but it's tuff without the bad ass Corperation from stopping me. Since they arn't making money off me for helping foxes, they put me in court 4 times, and I won. They still try though hahaha. Thay say I am endangering thier lives, when I make burrows for themunder ground and maounded hills to live in... all over BC alberta, and Saskatchewan. Lol, plz don't get caught as I have and go though a tufffffff court process.
I'd swear Ur in Alberta or very east BC. I am not too far from ya then IF U ARE lol. I have a few families of red foxes around me. I feed them as much as I can. Tjhey are VERY ENDANGERED and I hope U don'tget caught un-licenced "helping" of them as I did. I made homes and burrows and food ALL the time for them, as I love them lol. I tried to preserve them as much as I could, but the "corperation" of wild life here in Canada stopped me... for now lol......
Great moments in nature captured on video. THANK YOU for sharing something I would have loved to have witnessed myself! Oh, and thanks for cleaning up the inappropriate comments. This is not the place for that.

And what about your maine coon cats? I would like to see how good they are against a fox. They seem to be a similar size.

Yes I am in South western Ontario, Canada.
Amolicious 2 years ago
I live in Ontario too!! But I live in the country I also live on a dairy farm
laurensmith787 2 years ago
Ah. Canada. That explains it. At first I thought you were from the west country (England) because your accent is like English with a rhotic R. Anyway... >_>
ChristopherDone 2 years ago
Wait. You must have been raised in England or something. Explain your accent to me!!

Your cat seems very feisty tho, unlike my cat who is definately a scaredy cat lol.

my old cat was killed by a fox,i saw the fox kill her, minde you my cat was very old,the vet said thats the first cat killed by a fox in 30 years of being a vet,a young cat can handle a fox easy the vet told me
hyenachase 2 years ago
Sorry about your cat, that must have been so horrible for you. I feel a bit better though that the vet said it is very rare.

Domestic Cats, Dogs and Eagles actually prey upon foxes. I've read that when I was in elementary school. Red Foxes run faster than Greyhounds despite being so small.

oh my god! he looks soooo red! so red it looks like its fake!

OK..Let's get one thing straight here that some seem to missing....The fox was attracted to my garden because of the gooseberry bush nothing else....I also have wine grapes and plum trees that grow in my garden as well as a vegetable Garden.....That is what attracted him in the 1st place.
Amolicious 2 years ago
you have a beautiful garden and a beautiful vistor and for the ppl debating down there of course a chicken lover is gonna hate a fox they kill there stock but the fox is the only dog species that do not travel in pack goes out on its own hunting for food so yeah you see a big buffet ud would go after it to

I think the bush is feeding the fox, not the person filming. hehe

OP's got a hint of British accent - ok maybe I am still drunk lol
teewoods 2 years ago
Shame you are not an animal lover - so foxes should suffer and die - like its their on fualt humans came and occuiped their land.
teewoods 2 years ago
You dare tell me that I'm not an animal lover?! I have a flock of 21 chickens and I love them. I dare you to tell me that I'm not an animal lover! But I don't like foxes as they ALWAYS carry rabies and they KILL chickens!
Kaftar21 2 years ago
So you love chickens - but foxes cuz they somehow do whats natural and eat chickens, Why dont you hate human beings for eating chickens too? Why dont you hate Cats for killing birds or mice? You see how hypociritical you sound?
teewoods 2 years ago
jackass... protect them better!! foxes are rare and u blame them for living
avokadosuffle 2 years ago
Good job we don't have any chickens around here then huh! ;);)

The European Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) was intentionally introduced on the east coast of Australia by English settlers around the 1860s. Because of their opportunistic feeding habits and few natural predators foxes quickly spread throughout most of Australia.
gregsball 2 years ago
Because of their nonspecific eating habits fox populations will not crash once they reduce their prey to low numbers, instead they switch to other sources of food. Thus foxes always maintain sufficient numbers to prevent the recovery of many prey species and have contributed to the decline & extinction of eighteen Australian animals, including ten from WA.
Due to the resilience and versatility of foxes, only human intervention will help control this pest species.

its the survival of the fittest.
megapolse 2 years ago
I m not that sure about them doing so well ... Check back your sources , I know specialists who say the opposite you say.... Foxes are slowly decreasing.
gwogatobis 2 years ago
What you mean they arent innocent? you ever met a "mean" animal? I think they feed it and they were right I would have done the same !! People kill so many foxes just for their TAIL...Is it innocent??Foxes are nice animals...And going to exctinct...

Hi Buytime....
I would hardley compare this video to what you are doin in BC........LOL...I am all for protecting and helping wildlife.......But in no way at all am i creating living conditions for this animal around my home......Have not seen him since late last summer now.......
Amolicious 2 years ago
They never stay around a place for long if there is no food available...We do have alot of rabbits around here though. Will he show up again this summer? I don't know.....We did have a coyote out side our place at 5.30am a few weeks back. Only time i have seen him.....I am in southwestern ontario by the way.
Amolicious 2 years ago
LoL, Ur cat's funny. I am still helping them all I can, but it's tuff without the bad ass Corperation from stopping me. Since they arn't making money off me for helping foxes, they put me in court 4 times, and I won. They still try though hahaha. Thay say I am endangering thier lives, when I make burrows for themunder ground and maounded hills to live in... all over BC alberta, and Saskatchewan. Lol, plz don't get caught as I have and go though a tufffffff court process.
buytime 2 years ago
I'd swear Ur in Alberta or very east BC. I am not too far from ya then IF U ARE lol. I have a few families of red foxes around me. I feed them as much as I can. Tjhey are VERY ENDANGERED and I hope U don'tget caught un-licenced "helping" of them as I did. I made homes and burrows and food ALL the time for them, as I love them lol. I tried to preserve them as much as I could, but the "corperation" of wild life here in Canada stopped me... for now lol......
