  • No it was in the back porch area off the kitchen. There was a door to outside and another door to the kitchen. The back porch was a add-on and no well insulated. But was good enough for the servers.

  • In your kichen?

  • Hi, I was just wondering if I could build my own server. My current ISP, is really slow with not that much bandwith or speed etc. I have had some background with Linux and building computers, so I was just wondering if it's even possible. I just don't know how they work.

  • wow nice server's do you think you can host game server's?

  • Well depends on the game. These servers are mostly to test with. So processing power required to run a back end for games is missing. (Depending on the game). Plus bandwidth would be another issue. Sorry to give you a mixed response. Mostly depends on what the game needs for the backend.

  • A little late. But you can host a game server based on what backend is being used. So you have a game that runs on your workstation. AKA the client or front end. Then you have the server side the same connects to. There is some open source games. But as long as your meet the hardware requirements and enough bandwidth. Like any other server your need a static or permit ip and probably a domain registered depeneding on the game. It might just need a ip number.

  • can i have the cp that you dont want

  • well you would have to live in idaho and close to me. The problem is they are all in the garage after being moved. We the exception of a few. I did let one or two go. But I need to go through them first. Then you have like the dual piii 500. That of all horrible thing is sentimental value along with the cd tower. I built that over 10 years ago at my first computer job.

  • You need to play around with FreeNAS, NetBSD, YellowDog and PFSense to get all that stuff some use.

  • Have not tried FreeNas Just use samba for now. (No really large hard drives) Tried BSD. Cannot remeber what version and what I used it for. Think it was a radius server or a squid proxy box. As for PFSense. Most at work use cisco. however, I got two monowall boxes running. Plus building a third for home. Have not really done much with the mac. Since one needs a battery. Perhaps one day load yellowdog on one.

  • excelent servers, just like mine !
