why do divers go into the water backwards?

1 - so that the mask doesn't slam into the face of the diver

2 - the majority of their weight is the oxi tank, so by going in backwards it becomes safer to allow the weight to guide them down rather than force them down into the water.

3 - cuz the oxi tank is so heavy (again) divers don't stand up; not safe - could fall on or out of the boat when unprepared
