@CommanderCoward id say go for 125cc or 50cc unrestricted. i had a peugeot jetforce 50cc i could easly hit 40mph on it. Restricted 50cc scooters top speed is around 30mph.

@gottacatch3mall The cylinder is stock (49,5 cc untuned) , the engine isn’t the European model so stock it was doing 70km/h instead of the 45 km/h editions. I bought the scooter in Italy and flew it over to The Netherlands.
I bought a race exhaust and changed the clutch springs with yellow malossi springs. And the size jet in the carburetor. And that’s all I have changed. Yamaha Aerox is well known for its performance because of the Minarelli Horizontal engine it comes with.
Shit happens bro :/, But in sweden when you're 15 you can get a 50 cc scooter, when you're 16 you can get a 125cc motorcycle wich goes to about 130 km/h :D
There's a big difference between 2T about 3-5hp and 4T about 2-3hp ("T" short slang for stroke). Some states won't certify a 2T scooter but if you have a choice always choose 2T of the same engine displacement over a 4T if you want better acceleration, better hill climbing, power to go against the wind, and heavy set or the 4T for fuel economy and if you're a lighter rider. Whatever you choose, unrestrict it for overall better performance.

In most states, besides being less than 50 cc, the scooter cannot legally go faster than 30 mph yet 30mph is too slow for many streets in the US and with a slight upgrade or headwind you slow down even more. My 4-stroke 50 cc slowed down to 11 mph on a steep hill by my house. If you have to go with a little scooter you just have to get over to the right to let people pass on some city streets.

your scooter smokes is not because of the oil, the whole scooter is just fuked... not fucked, but your piston is very warn out and old and has been thrashed so its time to change ur piston. and 4 strokes have cams cam shaft velves bigger head etc. not just 2 strokes burn oil lol they both burn oil. its just the 2 stroke you put oil in the fuel, where as four stroke you put double the amount of oil in the engine/clutch case and mixes it automatically. p.s 2 strokes r sik and fun ;)
my 50cc scooter does 90kmh (56mph) with no other modifications than a de-restricting the fuel injection. Its a two stroke aprilia with fuel injection and it even matches my friends scooter with a 70cc bore kit in top speed, but the aprilia still beats it uphill.
@OBS3RVE your allowed pretty much anywhere in the UK on a moped, even on duel carriage ways.. but i highly reecommend you dont go on them :L but a 40mph road will be fine. but you cant go on motorways :)
most two strokes use premixed gas and oil, i like it better that way, but i suppose for practicality it is easier to have them seperate so that you can just fill up a gas station instead of mixing it in a gas can.
ok at least it wasn't a hole in the floor like most public toilets I found in Taiwan...they claimed it was more sanitary,,, pfft they're just too cheap to by a toilet.
I'm looking at 250s for beginner bikes but I live in America where there are a lot of highways and long stretches of road. Will it do just fine or should I wait until I am ready to upgrade before I go on the highway?

@scoutGOW The max. carrying capacity of my Aprilia 50 cc Sportcity is 595 lbs. which rider, luggage, etc. Run smoothly? I can's say. I weigh 190 lbs. or so and it runs real smooth. More weight would effect acceleration more than top speed. My 50 goes 42mph on level ground. I have a 125 Aprilia that does 62 and a Vino 125 that does 60. The 50 will really slow down on hills though. On one long, steep hill the 50 slows to 12 mph, the 125s to 35.
Thing is, here in America we don't have 2 cycle mopeds...so a 50cc 4 cycle here is quite slow. Some versions say top speed is only 25mph, some 30...For the most part I think the 150cc here is the way to go...70-90mpg or so.
@soccerpeve Not so. I own a 2009 Aprilia Sportcity 50 4 stroke. It goes 42 mph and gets up to speed OK. It does slow down on hills though. The Yamaha Zuma is a 2 stroke. The original mopeds were 2 cycle but they were chain driven and were lucky to get 30 mph. I rode my 50 cc scooter all around town today. Shopping, went to the library, went to a movie, went out to eat. No city roads have speed limits of more than 40 mph and mostly it's 30 and 35, so the 50 does just fine...like the video says.
I haven't checked fuel yet. Only have 45 miles on the 125 and 160 miles on the 50. I have found myself holding up cars behind me trying to merge or cross a busy road with the 50, but not with the 125 so advantage 125 there for sure...except for one very important consideration: with the 50, you are forced to be even more alert for all the traffic around you and you back off from faster drivers. This may actually make it safer since speed is a factor in most accidents. Most would agree with you.
Wow. 130 mpg. I will check that out. In the city, the limit is 20-35 but mostly 30 mph. My 50 does fine there except on Mission Drive, New Braunfels (N. from Wood Rd. if you have Google Maps) which is in a residential area and traffic is extemely light. I went up the hill 4 times today and only once did a car pass me. Yes, I was only going 10 mph, but that takes about 30 sec. I don't go on the faster state Rd 337 and I-35, and neither should a 125 although I occasionally see bicycles on 337.
Texas has two classifications: motorcycle and moped. Different rules slightly. Mopeds use bicycle rules. Some 50 cc scooters, if they go faster than 30, are classified as motorcycles. In either case, we can't split lanes, pass on the left and go to the front of a line of cars even if there is room. Asia and Europe has a feel for this mixed traffic. The US does not yet, and while nobody gets too upset about being behind a slow-moving truck, they get peaved if they are stuck behind a moped.

I'm looking at 250s for beginner bikes but I live in America where there are a lot of highways and long stretches of road. Will it do just fine or should I wait until I am ready to upgrade before I go on the highway?

@airsoftandrew1 as far as I know a 250 hits 60 quite easily, so you should be fine.

I'll stick to my GL 1500 Goldwing, also I'm not going anywhere where they have a toilet swat team, I have enough trouble with regular swat teams shooting at me. Nice vid though, thumbs up!

How much weight can a 50cc scooter hold and still ride smooth?

@scoutGOW The max. carrying capacity of my Aprilia 50 cc Sportcity is 595 lbs. which rider, luggage, etc. Run smoothly? I can's say. I weigh 190 lbs. or so and it runs real smooth. More weight would effect acceleration more than top speed. My 50 goes 42mph on level ground. I have a 125 Aprilia that does 62 and a Vino 125 that does 60. The 50 will really slow down on hills though. On one long, steep hill the 50 slows to 12 mph, the 125s to 35.

Is it Chinese? Not too hard to de-restrict it yourself. They use various methods of restriction so you just have to research it for your bike.

Thing is, here in America we don't have 2 cycle mopeds...so a 50cc 4 cycle here is quite slow. Some versions say top speed is only 25mph, some 30...For the most part I think the 150cc here is the way to go...70-90mpg or so.

@soccerpeve Not so. I own a 2009 Aprilia Sportcity 50 4 stroke. It goes 42 mph and gets up to speed OK. It does slow down on hills though. The Yamaha Zuma is a 2 stroke. The original mopeds were 2 cycle but they were chain driven and were lucky to get 30 mph. I rode my 50 cc scooter all around town today. Shopping, went to the library, went to a movie, went out to eat. No city roads have speed limits of more than 40 mph and mostly it's 30 and 35, so the 50 does just fine...like the video says.

I haven't checked fuel yet. Only have 45 miles on the 125 and 160 miles on the 50. I have found myself holding up cars behind me trying to merge or cross a busy road with the 50, but not with the 125 so advantage 125 there for sure...except for one very important consideration: with the 50, you are forced to be even more alert for all the traffic around you and you back off from faster drivers. This may actually make it safer since speed is a factor in most accidents. Most would agree with you.

Wow. 130 mpg. I will check that out. In the city, the limit is 20-35 but mostly 30 mph. My 50 does fine there except on Mission Drive, New Braunfels (N. from Wood Rd. if you have Google Maps) which is in a residential area and traffic is extemely light. I went up the hill 4 times today and only once did a car pass me. Yes, I was only going 10 mph, but that takes about 30 sec. I don't go on the faster state Rd 337 and I-35, and neither should a 125 although I occasionally see bicycles on 337.

Texas has two classifications: motorcycle and moped. Different rules slightly. Mopeds use bicycle rules. Some 50 cc scooters, if they go faster than 30, are classified as motorcycles. In either case, we can't split lanes, pass on the left and go to the front of a line of cars even if there is room. Asia and Europe has a feel for this mixed traffic. The US does not yet, and while nobody gets too upset about being behind a slow-moving truck, they get peaved if they are stuck behind a moped.
