This is how i see it: (keeping in mind that pre-marital sex is very common today) growing up in a world where polygamy is legalized can cause health issues. Teens and young adults will begin having sex with multiple partners...STD rates will skyrocket! Whereas gay people that want to get married are still COUPLED having sex. My biggest concern is STDS.
Any government endorsement of same-sex relations is dangerous to our traditional moral structure. You can say "oh, well it doesn't hurt anyone" but you're not thinking big picture. Society benefits when children are raised to believe they will marry and reproduce when they grow up. When you deviate from that, you devalue it and create a slippery slope to other alternatives, such as polygamy. People will say "it's just about love!" just like gays do now.
Any sex that is outside of marriage is wrong to a Christian. A marriage is a man and a woman becoming one flesh, as a full reflection of God. Same-sex relations are a sin as much as pre-marital heterosexual sex is a sin, or adultery is a sin. We're not "bigoted", we have a consistent morality when it involves sex.

Should not it be said the promotion of happyness is the basis of all morality. Allowing gays to get married promotes happyness, allowing interacial marriage promotes happyness, allowing polygamy does not. Whilst a legal discussion is necessary (rule of law is itself important to happiness) but surely if you are having a purely moral debate then happyness is the ultimate criteria and so we should allow gay marriage.

A gay person is not capable of falling in romantic love with a person of the opposite gender. That is what gay means. Love interest in the same sex. Again, a gay person would not be able to enter into polygamy so the rules would be equally applied which is not what we have now. Two consenting adults marrying the person of their choice for as long as their is no incest.
If a man is happily married to a woman then he is either straight or bisexual. Gay men are not sexually happy with women. That goes against what gay means. And goes against the law of non-contradiction. That is like saying married bachelors exist. Now unless you are intelligent enough to debate cohesively with correct definitions then I would say that you don't have a leg to stand on.

Signorile should have conceded that there was no justification for exclusion of the other groups...however there is a time and a change for everything - the time for equality for same sex couples is now - the movement is loud,strong and it's stirring the pot and that's what people are fighting for. He could express his views on polygamy, triads etc but the real debate is the one aspect of a law that excludes marriage to people solely based on their gender.

This issue raised here is whether allowing on group of people to marry but not another is equal protection under the law. polygamy is not an equal protection issue because NO ONE is allowed to marry more than one person. Therefore the slippery slope argument is invalid.

This is how i see it: (keeping in mind that pre-marital sex is very common today) growing up in a world where polygamy is legalized can cause health issues. Teens and young adults will begin having sex with multiple partners...STD rates will skyrocket! Whereas gay people that want to get married are still COUPLED having sex. My biggest concern is STDS.

Any government endorsement of same-sex relations is dangerous to our traditional moral structure. You can say "oh, well it doesn't hurt anyone" but you're not thinking big picture. Society benefits when children are raised to believe they will marry and reproduce when they grow up. When you deviate from that, you devalue it and create a slippery slope to other alternatives, such as polygamy. People will say "it's just about love!" just like gays do now.

Any sex that is outside of marriage is wrong to a Christian. A marriage is a man and a woman becoming one flesh, as a full reflection of God. Same-sex relations are a sin as much as pre-marital heterosexual sex is a sin, or adultery is a sin. We're not "bigoted", we have a consistent morality when it involves sex.

Should not it be said the promotion of happyness is the basis of all morality. Allowing gays to get married promotes happyness, allowing interacial marriage promotes happyness, allowing polygamy does not. Whilst a legal discussion is necessary (rule of law is itself important to happiness) but surely if you are having a purely moral debate then happyness is the ultimate criteria and so we should allow gay marriage.

There are no legitimate arguments against same sex marriage; opponents are nearly always motivated by their personal religious beliefs and think it appropriate to alter the law to reflect these. This is contrary to the founding principles of this nation. Churches can preach as they wish to their congregation but it is wrong that they seek to force their beliefs onto every citizen through the government.

Religion and the law are kept separate, so the state cannot make a law prohibiting the free exercise of religion, nor can religion influence the laws of the state. So the religious argument against gay marriage is irrelevant.

i've always found this polygamy arguement kind of weird (why is polygamy actually wrong?). if you allow gays to get married you should also allow polygamy, why? aren't we able to draw a line? you are allowed to bare firearms, but not fully automatic weapons or nuclear weapons etc. you have drawn a line on that subject, why can't you do that with marriage? look at other countries that have allowed gay marriage. they did not allow marriage between three people and it works just fine.

No. Bill is wrong. The difference between gay marriage and polygamy is that gay people would not be allowed to enter into polagamy either same as straight people. This is about being allowed to marry the ONE person for whom you love. A polygamist still has the right to marry at least one person they love, however, you are not giving gays an option to marry one person they love. They have zero choice.

A gay person is not capable of falling in romantic love with a person of the opposite gender. That is what gay means. Love interest in the same sex. Again, a gay person would not be able to enter into polygamy so the rules would be equally applied which is not what we have now. I am sure a gay person doesn't mind being banned from marrying their cousin, sister, or uncle. The point is equality. Two consenting adults marrying the person of their choice for as long as their is no incest.

If a man is happily married to a woman then he is either straight or bisexual. Gay men are not sexually happy with women. That goes against what gay means. And goes against the law of non-contradiction. That is like saying married bachelors exist. Now unless you are intelligent enough to debate cohesively with correct definitions then I would say that you don't have a leg to stand on.
