This is one of the worst reviews I have seen. The guy in the video seems to be reading from a script and probably doesn't know what ATV stands for... There is absolutly no information on how well the IRS works, or anything for that matter.
this guy sounds like hes reading it from a scrip and doesnt even know what hes talking about, and also, i wouldda like to c the es (electric shift) going thru tha rough stuff! its not even a review!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This videp was so educational. I learned a tremendous amount of atv riding knowledge. NOT!! this is kinda gay but oh well, the guy yakin about the es sounds like an overdramatic reject whos never been on a fourwheeler until now that AT is a good idea for some but not me, i like foot shift
real atvers ride reg steering haha i got a recon like it alot looking at getting a 2010 rancher footshift 4x4, any probs with em??? i dont have 4x4 now but have chance to get it and am probly gonna. my recons yellow wish i could get one of these in yellow cause they are rare and stick out like a sore thumb but wouldnt buy anything but honda anyway
a very good quad only downfall like most Honda's is no differential lock. i may not need it often but it is very frustrating when you cant climb a steep mudding hill because of one wheel not doing its job. but Honda's beat the competition in quality, reliability and not using belts for transmissions.
I have had a Honda Rancher, Polaris Ranger, Kawasaki Brute Fore 750,,and Honda 300 I have been around a lot of Hondas. I have been around a BRP outlander 400 too quite a bit. I like Polaris the most though I honestly believe. Honda is reliable, so is Kawasaki. The Kaw was probably stronger built than the Honda. Polaris is just different. Honda is reliable usually, sometimes people get lemons. Like the Crankshaft having a oil leak, need new engine. Heard of that problem before ?
hondas are so reliable i have a 500 rubicon its been rolled 3 or 4 times drove into a building sat outside in the weather including winter for a year with a broken dash so water gets inside and it still freaking starts and runs greats haha i love hondas.
I'd like to know how that auto tranny compares to the auto clutch? Watching this vid it seems at times this quad could use a lower gear. I have a 500 foreman with the foot shift and I'm looking at this quad cause of the fuel inj. for my wife. I think I'll stick with the foot shift. I don't like the esp. I can care less for a diff. lock. I've never needed one.
I've looked at the grizzly's, but for the same features they cost thousands more. Let's face it, these 4 wheelers are for the most part toys. Honda makes a reliable 4 wheeler with great features for a lot less cash.
I would say Suzuki,Kawasaki,Yamaha and Honda are pretty much on par in the reliability department.I have owned Honda,Kawasaki, Polaris, and Suzuki, with plenty of Honda's around, some Suzuki's, and Can-Am. Polaris, has had the most comfortable ride, that doesn't wear you out, Suzuki is cheaper, but is alot like Honda in the reliabilty department, Kawasaki as well, but the Brute's are gas guzzlers. The Kawi, is built pretty strong though. The Steel is possibly the strongest used on ATV's.
well think about this though the new 420s dont have the black axle cover like the 02-06 ranchers did i have the axle cover on my rancher that makes it 3 times stronger but kawis an all those have irs and a bud owns a farm he pulled his tractor 6 miles with a rancher 420 it was a 110hp tractor it broke down if the fourwheeler has no axle cover i would go with the irs
This is a poor review, but let's get over that and discuss the quad. I am seriously considering this ATV as a farm use utility quad, but it would also be used a lot on rough trails... hence the need for IRS. Does anyone have any idea how the IRS will stand up to utility use?? Or am I better off sticking with a straight axle?
i have a polaris 350 its not super heavy duty but it definatly does work. mostly use it for tilling and moving logs and my straight axel works great in the trails too.
This is poor. EPS - thats ELECTRIC POWER STEERING? or do you mean ESP - ELECTRIC SHIFT PROGRAM. Learn those facts, and use a decent camera next time. however, the review was good in general.
Jesus Christ, this was the WORST review I've seen in a long time... IF I wanted to see some idiot drive through a boulder field I could have searched for something else... It would have been nice to see views of the IRS in action and on-board run down a trail of the AT shifting... And what is with the web cams that you guys are using to film this...?

a grizz 450 will eat a 420 alive. simply with the fact that they do not offer locking diffs on the hondas.

The Rancher 420's axle appears to be thicker than the previous model, though it don't have a cover.

What really annoys me about my 2005 fourtrax is how far under the tow bar hitch is, its sometimes fucking impossible to get a trailer off on your own

Straight axle is better that irs for hauling heavy loads and works well in the trails. almost as good as irs.

Don't get too excited over IRS, Ihave a straight axle rancher and I do a lot of offroading and the straight axle doesn't hold me back at all.
