Hi great video guys !!! :) you make a comment though how it might be turning out lumpy, the only thing I do different is when I have the initial log rolled out, I cut that into half then slowly and gently roll out the half like you used to do to make a play dough snake, just enought to create more bite size peices and it also makes it more uniform. Just a tip. Thanks for the video I've been making this candy for a long time. :) Happy Holidays !!!
YUMMY....My grandmother here in Reading PA made this when I was a kid and I have been looking all over for a how to make it....lol....THANK YOU so much for posting it, I'm going to make some tomorrow....... :>)
before I watch this when I moved down here I cam from Allentown PA I am in Georgia they never heard of potato candy before I was like WTF but yea gonna be from the northern part and NO YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT IN THE FRIDGE I dont do mine like that I hate it cold I put in the microwave or leave it set because we eat it all in a day anyways
@ballkirby you dont have to but peanut butter can grow parasites very easy when unrefrigerated (never go to a parasitology conference) sorry to make u sick lol
@ballkirby That's because Potato Candy is Pennsylvania Dutch. My mom's side of the family consists of entirely Pennsylvania Dutch and we eat Potato Candy like it is nobody's business x_x Us PA Dutchers/Germans really know how to use up them potatoes haha
Yes, i let mine cool in the fridge for a while so when you spread the pent butter it will be firm. I also do it on wax paper to make the roll more uniform when I roll it up. After you form the roll put it back in the fridge again to firm it up more so that it won't smash when you slice it.
@theblackwizard09 im guessing you are asking if you are supposed to put in in the refrigerator so YES you put in the fridge you always put anything with peanut butter in the fridge
Yeah you made it right!!! Ive seen people make it with NO POTATO LOL. What a joke. When you make this stuff without a potato its cant be called potato candy. But man you nailed it.
"oh yea you need a rolling pin" lol. nice vid you were so precise about everything. all the recipies i read for this everyone says thing their own way and tries to tell you thats the origional way haha. and yea im dizzy too! im about to attempt it. the mash potatoes are warm but i wanted to check with a vid first. this was the only one i could find! thanks :)
I was raised on this candy! I love it. thanks for the memories.
