  • wow nice cars

did you know the Omni/Horizon and Airies/Reliant sedans and the Lebron wagon were produced in 1/64 scale? that is the sive of Matchbox and Hot Wheels vehicles They were made by Motor Max

  • this is the exact same color and interior as my car. mines not a wagon unfortunately but still love the car. power loss is like the check engine light.

  • Whan I got my 84 aries sedan, the doors were tight. Use wd-40 and open and close then until they free up. It sounds just like mind.

  • god that thing brings back memories even for some one like me at 24 years old, my mother used to own a white station wagon version of the reliant K, that she bought from a AVON cosmetics fleet car sale, and that thing lasted all the way from when I was born to when she taught me how to drive in it, and just with basic mantence, the thing still ran like a champ even after it was my (1st) car till we sold it for a brnd new suburban....but when i see these or get to sit in one, its memory lane baby

  • I hate new cars too

  • I WANT THAT CAR!

  • Hey i got a tops speed vid up of my Reliant wagon... check it out

  • Amazing! One of the biggest piles of junk ever and people just love them. Most of them caught on fire and burned because of poor quality fuel line connectors.

  • The car is in good shape for 24 years. Are you going to re-paint it?

  • im gonna make a vid of my car and explain what i want to do to it and see what you al lthink about it...

  • My family used to have a non stationwagon k car 1986 as well. It was a decent car we basically drove it until it nearly broke in half from rust. The brakes crapped out and when we went to jack it up to take a look the floor gave way while it was jacked up and that was basically it for that car everything else was fine on the car motor and all but it was just severe rust and jackung it up to find the bad brake line that did it in.

  • i just bought onf these today, a 87 LE. just have to change the thermostat and recharge the a/c, 127,000miles for $1,000... good deal?.... idk, has new tires, much better mileage than my truck :D

  • keep the coolant full................the major problem with these was overheating........once they do that you are screwed.............I have owned 3 or 4 and still have one that I drive to work.........

  • I hve an 88 tan one!

  • look at how much better the visibility is with these older cars and compare it to that newer black car at :44 with its tiny windows. if you've been driving cars newer than 1995 for a while and go back to an 80s car you'll be amazed at the superior visibility!

  • @coolbluelights

Totally agree with you. I learned to drive on a 94 cavalier that my father owned for more than 15 years. Then he sold it and got an 05 Accord. Visibility never matched that of the ol' Chevy. I did also notice the Cavalier had many less blind spots than the Accord. And the Japanese brag about safety while missing that kind of details!

  • Totally hate new cars too. ( I have a 1990 Grand Marquis as my daily driver.) Hold on to this. I predict that the "K" car is going to be the most sought after car by collecters in the near future - everyone drove them until they fell apart and nobody was concerned with fixing them up. I'm telling you - 10 - 20 years from now, this car of yours could be a MAJOR attraction at a classic car show.

  • now that brings back a ton of great memories! I have owned about 5 of these in my life. I love them. if I could find one for sale and had the money I would buy one again.

  • "Power Loss" is ther same as check enging light. The light is hooked to the inside computer (logic module) on the front passenger side. I have an 86 Aries too. I don't use it much because I have a new Dakota.

  • i hate new cars too

  • The K-cars are boxy, but charming in a weird way.

  • I can't help but find the Reliant K's ugly cars. But they are indeed well-built and some neat power options were available for them. Have fun and take good care for her!

  • Ugly by 1980s standards, but compared to the crap the're trying to sell us now? This car actually had a front end, and a rear end as well. A lot different from the stupid eggs they're trying to pawn off on us now.

  • I couldn't agree more. I hate the modern rubbish rounded shapes too. I still like cars like the Dodge Avenger though.

The Grand Marquis is the last real US car that's still in production imo. I just traded in my 22 year old Lancer (daily driver, believe it or not) for a Grand Marquis. I love the big hood and large trunk, and of course the bench seats in the front. Who the hell needs a "sports sedan" for home-work traffic. Real soft comfort and luxury are becoming a rarity in cars these days.

  • they make "bumper black" trim paint to fix the trim that has turned yellow.

  • Man, it's 1:30 am....got to go to bed.......

  • I got to start making some videos to put on here. Seems like fun........

  • The Reliant was not underpowered at all, especially on the highway. The Omni was a quick, easy to manuover car. Wow, you know as much about the Reliant as I know about Ramblers. I just sold a 1961 Rambler Classic Super, almost mint condition with 49,000 miles on it. Wish I had made videos of it to put on here....

  • The Reliant reminded me of a 1965 Rambler Classic I had......oh well never mind, you wouldn't know what that is anyway..........

  • thanks and actully yes i know what a 1965 rambler classic is =p im a car junkie

  • I also had 1984 Dodge Omni. Also a great car from Chrysler. Both these cars I bought new....Both had great sounding stereo systems also....

  • cool i love the basic look of the omni maby one day ill find another

  • i have a 1978 Plymouth horizon hatchback not the sporty liftback with only 144 thousand original kms its in great shape i only payed 175$ for it since my friend knew how much i loved it and she was moving so she was selling it anyways so i bought it off her in September of 2009 this year and i just love it its still got the original 1.7l vw motor to!

  • @classic287 you bought An Omni New in 84? Nice! I Have a Horizon...Same thing as An Omni and Love It

  • I had a 1988 Plymouth Reliant station wagon. One of the best cars I've ever had.

I loved it. Smooth ride, comfortable velour seats. It was a 2.5L four cyl. It had good power, zero problem, and I could see the hood while driving, love that. Great all around car. Wish I had it now.....

  • sweet 1988 was the last year a wagon was offerd the 2.5 is the smoother running engine thanks to the balast shafts my 2.2 has great power (idiots always say its under powerd) i like the ability to see the hood gives me a better idea of how far i am =p

  • you forgot about that crap looking car at 0:44 cliff pushing time LOL Nice station wagon though I always wanted one

  • that ugly black car is my nehibors i love my old wagon and will take it over new any day

  • Too bad my car aint as old as yours I have a 98 acura integra sedan but I much rather have a staton wagon that looks all boxey from the 80's

  • my neighboor might be givoing me a free one as a first car and it has no rust on it well taken cared for

  • cool a well kept kcar is a great car to have peopel always say bad stuff about them but they are excellent cars

  • Very nice car!! It says "Power Loss" on the dash because the engine isn't running. That light comes on if the engine stalls.

  • That door buzzer would drive me half-insane. I think I'd have to rip that SOB out!

  • the door buzzer dont bother me and if i took it out i might forget my keys

  • However, could you swap that buzzer for a chime from a 1983-87 Cadillac as those chime are very pretty?

  • the buzzer actully doesnt bother me enoufgh for me to take it out

  • Good find!

  • Nice car

  • I will give you $1,500.00 for it.

  • sorry man shes not forsale ive wanted a kcar for a while

  • I have wanted a K car for the past 14 years.

  • they are out there just got to look around ill find the link and send it to you but there was a 88 i thing 4 door that was blue for $1200 i think

  • I live in the country now, so I guess anything is possible. In Rochester, NY, these cars are very hard to find. What kind of shape was this 88 in?

  • the 88 looked in good shape about the same as my wagon i think it was in NJ tho but not sure

  • wow they must be rare there here theres lots still driving around iam getting one real soon just have to find the right one for the right price

  • Yeah, they are hard to come by in Rochester. I have seen a few, but none for sale. The closest I ever came to owning a K car was when I owned my 1987 Chrysler LeBaron GTS.

  • you had a LeBaron gts O.O those are rare too i belive

  • They are extremely rare. I bought mine for $200.00 in 2006 and drove it for four months. Serious undercarriage rot forced me to sell her to an auto scrapper for $50.00. The engine only had 115,272 miles on it.

  • man that totaly sucks i hate when that happens rust sucks need to move to a rust free world

  • I hope your K wagon is undercoated.

  • I want to buy this car.

  • lol =p same words i said when i saw it was forsale

  • That looks great. Take good care of it :)

  • hey what happened to your head liner ???

  • must of been hanging down so somebody riped it out

  • Great vid, great car! Glad to see you joined the K-Car Club! I have a 1987 Dodge Aries K LE Sedan same colour as your wagon, I have the 2.5L though! Anyway grear vid and car!

  • thanks :)

  • Myles, you need to get an original radio in that car.

  • did that yester day its a am/fm/casette radio from proably a shadow of the early 90's it originaly had a standard AM/FM only radio (which i have)

  • yea except the sound stunk in those my dad had a blue 86 sedan and I hated the radio..... I would go and get a newer factory radio out of like a 90s chrysler minivan or something like that...... one with the infinity sound and maybe a cd player.... those things came rarely with a cassette from factory..... yea good car though! Plus the other side to gettting an origional radio is most have probably MET the crusher.....

  • Nice K-Car Myles! Glad you got it! I know someone who had one of these ages ago and you couldn't kill it! I believe I told you about that on Gmail though. 5 stars!

  • nice car look's so cool

  • Wow that's really great that you got this car. I like it a lot ! Station wagons like this really can haul a lot especially if the rear seat is folded down.

  • GREAT CAR!!

    Take care!

  • SE=Special Edition?

    LE=Luxury Edition?

  • That is correct.

  • Very nice car Myles! I remember when these were everywhere in the 80's (I was your age then).

You may want to check the belt driven accessory bearings, I've had tensioner pulley bearings go bad and make really annoying sounds. The other thing I've had go bad is the smog pump, although you might not have one of those (non California car).

    Enjoy it man! Congrats!

  • Beautiful!!

Congrats on your new ride. I truly do love the K-Car and all its derivatives...

In a couple months, I may have a surprise coming too.....

  • thanks :) i cant wait to see what the suprise is ;)

  • Nice stationwagon! You don't see vintage cars too often, unfortunitely. My mom used to have a 1986 Dodge Caravan and it had the same interier light, ac vents, window crank, and the inner door handle. Itz long gone due to an accident, ARGH!

  • yea its a sad thing that all the 80's cars are slowly vanishing everybody things newer is better

  • Sad, ain't it?

If I was to preach about vintage quality, ppl will either think I'm crazy or won't beleive me and say, "Itz a piece of junk".

  • its very sad i try to tel ppl about it they look at me like im a nut job talking about useing casettes still and getting happy about my kcar saying that its old and its a beater

  • People give me weird looks when I tell them that I use cassettes as well. I record a radio show called Car Talk on NPR on cassettes. I use an iPod for my main music storage, and I use it in my new Pioneer car stereo in my 2002 Chevy Cavalier.

  • what happened to your 88 dodge shadow??

  • you right man they are dispersing but i love your 86 reliant wagon its awsome iam buying a k car soon so i will tell you when i get mine and by the way how much did you pay for your reliant wagon??

  • sweet hope you get one i got this one for $500

  • Ah I love that car! man if I lived close I'd detail the interior for you!

  • lol i actully look foward to doing that all tomorrow XD

  • One of the people my dad knows had a blue one of these. Whenever he got up to about 110 km/h the steering wheel shook violently. Plus the back doors were ruined, falling off the hinges.

The wheels on your K are 13" wheels, as are those on the Omni, just read the tire sidewalls. I'd suggest using a gloss black spray paint to rid the car of the yellow showing on the bumpers. I like station wagons myself, and once I get some things straightened out, I'll post a video of mine.

  • me and my dad had this one going about 75mph down the expressway it rod nicely yea i read the tire size numbers after the video =p i plan on painting the yellow long before i picked the car up =p i love wagons too there nicer than suvs

  • You can cram just as much in a station wagon, and it's no bigger than a usual car. Mine is a 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier, and I need to re-install the upholstery before I do the video(s).

  • i cant wait to see your car ive always liked the cavalier wagons as well as the fairmonts and escorts

  • My guess is that you have a 4-Cylinder engine in this beast. I guess the original owners ripped out the headliner of the car is because ut hung like a giant bubble from the ceiling. My first car was a 1989 Chevy Corsica with over 183,000 miles on it when I got rid of it; transmission issues. Other than that it ran like a champ for the 6 years I had it; had power windows, broken power locks, AM/FM broken cassette stock stereo.

  • yep its the famous dodge 2.2L inline 4 not a bad engine i like the chevy corsica and first cars are never suposed to be perfict ruins the fun imo

  • Yeah, the Corsica ran pretty good for it's age, but it was getting pretty expensive to fix, so it had to go. I bought a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am, and like my Corsica, it had a 3.1L 6-cylender engine. But I got in a wreck with that one; not my fault, someone was in a rush and ran a red light at 45MPH, blasting me off the road. From that, I just had a sore shoulder. But I loved that little car; it had A/C and a fully working stock stereo, and had only 63,000 when it was hulled away.

  • at least its a runner!

  • runs great tho it does need a new air cleaner and spark plugs but i have new plugs

  • well it would run even better if it said

    F O R D on the hood lol! JK :P

  • OHNO is this gonna be like the ge battel

  • my family has never had any good luck with chrysler products or the local chryler dealerships. however the owner of our ford dealer Jack has gotten to know us personally and can name off the model and color of every vehical we bought from him starting with my dads first truck his brand new 1978 F-150. we have had great luck with ford! my hyundai serves me well but i support american auto companys more.

  • my famil used to be ford ford ford my mom and dad had several fords before i was alive includeing 3 ford fairmonts and a 1983 tbird then we test drove a 2000 something taurse wagon and hated it now were mopar audi and toyota (tho we dont own a toyota my mom is gonna get a rav-4

  • yota's are pretty good!

  • new cars, suck i will allways buy used

  • nice car

  • thanks:)
