  • This is Why Senna is the BEST, and LAST Pure driver. You put him in any car, regardless of how worthless the car is, he will make it DANCE!

  • staged

  • Where is this from? can someone tell me? is it in a documentary?

  • Comment removed

  • Hah, I remember reading about this. Prost got pole, Senna got annoyed, Prost was in the lead during the race and they had a collision. As usual. xD

  • Wow. The good ol' days...

  • Interesting how fair movies, like this, leaves "thumbs" (rates) and "comments" ON, and some others ...how should I put it :) ...well, just OFF is enough.

Anyway, dont get me wrong, I like Senna of course, Mansell, Prost, Shumacker, saying only of drivers at Senna era.

But I dont like what some haters are doing, like nasty lawyers using nasty vocabulary to convince (confuse), and dont give chance to let people say. Almost like proves and evidences being tampered or formed as this people wish.

  • is anyone suprised?

  • thats why Senna was/is THE BEST.

  • 190E 2.3 16

Real Mercedes sport car with getrag manual gearbox!

    1st gear down!

Does any AMG of today have such a gearbox?!

  • ...and Senna won it in the wet -daz in oz

  • Now , to be honest if f1 drivers made this sort of race i believe alonso would won

  • @Richard97AUS i would bet on Kubica or Schumaccher, i know that Kubica is not on F1 now, but if he could race i think he probably would be awesoe in track. But its impossible to say without them racing.

  • I was coming from Geneva to Frankfurt, and Ayrton was due to land half an hour before, so Gerd Kremer of Mercedes asked me if I would bring him to the track. On the way we chatted, and he was very pleasant. Then we got to the track, and practised the cars. I was on pole, with Ayrton second - after that he didn't talk to me any more! It seemed funny at the time. Then in the race, I took the lead, and he pushed me off the track after half a lap. So that was a good start"

did you know who said it?

  • @Ponch851 Prost did!

  • @Ponch851 Prost, the F1 Whiner!

  • I wonder what would have happened if Senna drove for Ferrari, and what Schumacher would be doing.

  • @carsismeZ06 Driving for Ferrari was Senna's plan (for '97 or '98 - negotiations were underway already) before retiring in 2000. As for Schumi, he would be...losing to Senna! He admitted that if Senna hadn't been killed at Imola, he'd be winning, because that's what Ayrton was born to do. Schumi was only winning in '94 because he had a cheating car and Senna had a crap car.

  • @carsismeZ06 Even Frank Williams said that it made no sense that Ayrton (by his own admission the best driver ever on his team) was being beaten by a MUCH less experienced (and talented) driver. Senna would have won the world championship in '92 and '93 if Prost hadn't blocked him from Williams, so that would've been 5 WDC under his belt before he died. Had he lived, he would have won a few more, for sure, breaking all records (and Schumi would have only a couple world titles to his name)!

  • @carsismeZ06 I forgot to add that Senna would have won the WDC in '88 AND '89 if not for mechanical failure - so that would have brought his world titles to SEVEN by the time he was 34...Schumi would be forgotten.

  • @22astonmartin I made my comment out of curiosity, and you made your reply as some sort of attack.

By the way, Senna shoulda, woulda, coulda, but didn't. Brilliant driver.

  • If you can't handle the answer, don't ask the question.

  • @22astonmartin The question I asked didn't deserve an answer like that.

  • @carsismeZ06 I posted my thoughts in response to your "question" - don't take it so personally.

  • Pistonhead MODS are a pack of faggot queers. the readers are overly PC faggots who know fuck all. totally gay site

  • Senna wins. Period.

  • Thanks for sharing :) Much appreciated !

  • Lauda was a fuckin nazi

  • its funny how easy he makes it look when those Mercedes Benz Cosworths were rubbish at the time lol.

  • Nao havera outro melhor que Senna, nao havera outro melhor que Pelé, nao havera outro melhor que Michael Jodan, nao havera outro melhor que Tiger Woods, venha quem vier, geracao apos geracao! E tenho dito!!!

  • the man

  • Senna -again in rain- show how great he was. He won 60% of his races in rain [ Do not count Montecarlo 1984 or races where he was leading, as Canada 1989 and his machine blows] showing him as the absolute king of rain. The second? Hamilton and Schumacher with 40%. Far behind him. These race against Prost and Lauda - a real true and actual champions in 1984- show again how great he was. For this reason and other, 217 f1 pilots choose him as the Greatest of all the times.

  • Senna - the true genius

  • I remember in the 1990's being at Brands on a Wednesday morning and sitting in the pits watching a Manx Norton eating proddie 750 G

xrs. Practice over and off comes the helmet, oh, it's John Surtees.

  • esse cara era muito foda, bom em qualquer carro!! Que Deus o tenha.

  • Todos correram com o mesmo carro ( Ford Capri ) aí não teve pra ninguém !

  • The Formula 1 has been dead!

  • just looked at the thumbnail and yelled 'suprise, suprise' in my head :')

  • A bit unfair, the other world champions didn't stand a fuckin chance

  • Why don't current F1 drivers do this sort of thing ???? Pussies !!!!!!!!!!

  • @claremorris89

because they are afraid to fail I guess

  • @claremorris89 Look up the race of champions

  • @claremorris89 many enter the race of champions and various go kart events and so on. they also do it in F1 with six world champions on the grid.

after Robert Kubiza crashed his rally car in 2010 I'm pretty sure that a lot of teams probably restrict how much racing drivers can do outside of F1

  • @claremorris89

you are right. if you look at the calendars and results of all the drivers in the '60s and '70s, you see all these non-championship races, formula 2 races, just about everything. now, there isn't a mention about anything like that anymore.

  • @bullet50000 Kubica ran a rally and he got severly injured, Kimi did the same while driving for Maca, and several others have race in LeMans after the F1 season.

They are not pussies, they have contractual obligations to take care of themselves, Renault lost not only their best driver but also a lot of money, cars and teams are built around drivers, if your driver comes back hurt you lose a lot of money and car development.

  • @claremorris89 i say alot of em would in off F1 races, but the would not be able to get insured, plus their teams would not allow it

pity cos id reckon some of them would prob win some touring car and maybe some rallies

  • @claremorris89 they're not allowed to. they'd love to, trust me

  • @Breed86 true, sad policts from FIA.

  • @claremorris89 before calling anyone a pussy, please get enough information. check out ROC events every year where all the champions in the world get together and drive equal cars. called Race Of Champions

  • look how much he won by !! Sure sign right there

  • You are the best, and it seems you always will be. Formula 1 has literally died with you since your demise. You took the glory days with you, with the sport diving towards bankruptcy.

  • I was there, Senna and Lauda were half a lap ahead

  • Senna was a complicated character. In some ways he was very much like schumacher - win at almost any cost - but the two have very different reputations. However, there can be no doubting his astonishing talent and pure speed, and he was certainly a very, very good man.

  • There's been champions in F1 in every era; Fangio, Stirling Moss, Brabham, Villeneux, Senna, Schumacher, etc. And in relation to the incident shortly before Senna's death, taking Prost out on the starting straight, it's formula 1, Schumacher is noted with doing almost exactly the same thing to Damon Hill, and now that the cars are safer since there hasnt been a driver fatality for 17 years, they are putting more on the line, more recently with Red Bull aerobatic displays.

  • @gturner38 xD

  • The worlds first taste of how amazing Ayrton Senna was. He's not just one of my hero's, He is the hero of many of my hero's.

  • Senna second best. Even he has admitted that Jim Clark was the best of the best

  • @gourdonboy really?where he admitted that?im interested.

  • @AlonsoElNano Do some research. Senna said that Clark was "the best of the best"

  • @gourdonboy i dont find anything, can you give me the link...

  • @gourdonboy Could you link that please? I would love to see it. Clark is probably my 2nd favorite f1 driver after Senna.

  • @gourdonboy Take that with a grain of salt. Senna wasn't going to call himself the greatest ever, much as Schumacher named Senna greatest ever. It would be better to ask a driver who wouldn't seriously be considered and wasn't teamed with, or fierce rivals with, one of the greatest. Maybe someone like Eddie Cheever.

  • @Shogo5000 williams was the best team you idiot at sennas time -.-!

  • @Grisu94x It's hard to say that Williams was the best when McLaren won 15 of 16 races in one season, with Ferrari winning the one remaining GP. Unlike this year's Red Bull team, the wins were split 8-7 and, depsite the championship being awarded to Senna, Prost actually outscored him.

  • If he was the best in equal cars, so why Senna couldn't win championships in Formula 1 without the best car (McLaren) and the best engine (Honda) ?

  • @Shogo5000 i think you should watch the movie man or go to wikipedia, then you can start saying something

  • @Shogo5000 lol have you ever heard of the williams renault fw14?

  • @Shogo5000 1988, he won with "the same" car that Prost had. In 1989 didn't won because of a DQ. Besides, he had better performances than any of of his teammates from Toleman to McLaren (except 1988: 94 points against 105 of Prost, but he had 8 victories and Prost had 7).

In F1 cars of the same team are not exactly "the same" since each driver is allowed to chose wings setup, springs, tires and other stuff. In this race they used all equal stock cars, so the title of the video is right.

  • He was a artist.

    Simple as that

  • Senna won in equal cars against the best of his time. Why ??

    Cause he´s the best !!!

  • Alain Prost: "For this race at the Nürburgring, I was coming from Geneva to Frankfurt on a scheduled flight, and Ayrton was due to land half an hour before, so Mercedes asked me if I would bring him to the track. Then we got to the track, and practised the cars. I was on pole, with Ayrton second - after that he didn't talk to me any more! It seemed funny at the time. Then in the race, I took the lead - and he pushed me off the track after half a lap. So that was a good start!

  • @prostfan senna was a sulky bitch. if he was losing he would knock you off

  • @prostfan You got the end of this quotes totally wrong and you probably know that.

  • If you look at that car....it is dancing.....god i miss you man...

  • race of champions back then!

  • @mrpoet212

Dont you wicked senna-fans realize how stupid all those theories are? And statistic unlikely?

"suddenly" when Ayrton is out of this world A L L competition and skilled drivers somehow "disappeared" ? Come on! Check up some races in the season 1992..... Michael acctually won over your heroes/giants (Senna,Alesi,Hill,Berger,Prost) and this when MS was a complete rookie in inferior machinery. I dont giva fuck about football. Michael is the ultimate winning Driving Machine

  • @hlidskjalf666 There is something wrong : Schumacher wasn't in a inferior car. He was in a superior car. MP4/7A was one of the worst F1 Senna drove. And if you add the poor reliability..On contrary, Schumacher was on a Rory Byrne car. Just have a look on the shape of the car to see that Byrne was already on a view of the next generation of F1, in aerodynamics with a high nose allowing to give more down force to the car and to its extractor. An improve design of Migeot & Postlethwaite for Tyrell

  • Lets see if somebody will care to make a movie about Schumacher...

  • @mrpoet212

    "collect points" ?

Sorry, you cant dodge the fact that RACING is about performance for an longer time/reign. Senna could not perform/race consistent ! Thats why he never was the best. Just an poseur with charisma and reputation.

In the Future all encyclopedia´s & Magazines will put Michael as the greatest of all time. Greatest not because he was popular but the FASTEST and almighty the sport has ever seen.

  • the team tuned the car illegally for a. senna!

    I know it. CHERATER!

  • @swallowAyrtonSenna you are the biggest idiot ever, you should fucking die, your a failed abortion

  • @scoot24925 but that was not funny by you ... ^^.

  • imagine if enzo had listened to that and took senna onboard.

  • Senna threw water on the German's beer, heheh

  • I never seen this footage. Thanks

I knew he was that fastest in whatever car he drive.

  • I´ve read in his biography that he took this race very serious because he rightly thought it was a great opportunity to shine in the same cars

  • @hlidskjalf666 - It makes me laugh that you and others go on and on about 1994. The Benetton may well have had TC, but so did McLaren and Ferrari at certain stages of 1994. The rules weren't clear enough and teams were using the same electronics as in 1993 and disingaging the system. Anyway, any driver could beat the system in skill level. It was not going to make the driver any quicker round the lap. In 1991 Schumacher was already outracing Senna in an inferior car, look at Spain lol.

  • @weallfollowmanutd

    -excause me- ?

    I dont "go on about 1994" .

I often mention that Donington park -1993- wasnt that incredible of senna because his car had TS and most likely the most evolved at the time. Schumacher and some other-inferior teams had to wait until several races later (spain) when they finally installed TC/or software. The true Rainmaster is Schumacher

  • @hlidskjalf666

Much good that did him in 2010 when it was rain. I am still waiting for rain in 2011 to see the "rainmaster" proving his skill of getting beaten by Rosberg.

What about Estoril 1985? Senna was almost a lap ahead of the field in rain. And let's not forget Monaco 1984 in which he could have won in a Toleman-Hart(!) against Alain Prost in the McLaren-TAG Porsche (the car that won 12 out 16 races in 1984).

Pedro Rodriguez was the rainmaster. Him in monsoon rain with the Porsche 917

  • @McLarenMercedes

Rosberg is a great driver, who will be surprised? pathetic haters like you?...

name one elite-sportsmen that returns after 3 years and still fight with top 10...Michael is astonoshing and uniqe. every littered people realizes that. F(1) magazine wrote in nobemver that everybody who judges michael should know...that the boys he is racing against today wont have a chance repeat his achievements OR manage an similiar comeback in the future.

    ---part 2 ---

  • @McLarenMercedes

Yea Senna is fascinating and good in rain. but many hardcore-fans were fooled by the Donington1993 (tractioncontrol). I belive Schumacher eclipsed them all as the undisputed rainmaster. Why? because he could make 5-6 corrections in only one corner (about 2 seconds) And the list is long where he´s fightings his way from bad position.I think he l-a-p-e-d almost the entire field in 1996 Spain.

  • I understand racing very well actually. Drivers will 'ball' as you put it are all very nice, like Jean Alesi, but he was found out in the end to be just another overrated driver with not as much outright speed as we all once thought. I'm a big fan of Lewis Hamilton, who goes for it and has astonishing speed and ca overtake, so yes I do understand the meaning of racing lol.

  • Senna the great!

  • seems very familiar...... ! when Michael Schumacher also was a f-1 rookie ,he outraced Senna several times ;) heck Michael retired half guys that Senna raced against in INFERIOR machinery. Many of the viewers seem to mistake wich mercedes´ wich senna ride. Great vid!

  • @hlidskjalf666

Senna's 1992 McLaren was a terrible car. Senna's 1993 McLaren had a less powerful engine than Schumacher's customer Ford engine. Despite this, Senna out raced the young German almost all season. In 1994, despite being twitchy and horribly unstable, Senna put the FW14 Williams on pole for every race. The only reason Schumacher passed him in the pits at Brazil was because Benetton had removed the fuel filter allowing Schumacher to stop from second in half the time.

  • @bighimey very well put. You clearly have a lot of knowledge regarding F1

  • @hlidskjalf666

...They were later banned because of it. Senna and others were certain Schumacher was using either traction or traction + launch control illegally during the 1994 season. Much later, the car was examined and both were found in hidden computer menu able to be easily toggled on and off. Flavio said they only used it for 'testing'.

Your man is a cheat. Always has been. I love watching him race because its great to have a Dick-Dastardly character in the mix. He's a great talent.

  • @hlidskjalf666

    But he's no Senna.

  • gooner01988 - I couldn't agree more with your statement. Senna's move at Suzuka in 1989 was never on. Prost had every right to turn in on him, as Senna was simply too far back. Another example was the British Grand prix of 1989. Prost clearly was ahead into the first corner and Senna dived down the inside. That remember was a high speed corner and against a team mate. Pretty crude manouvres if you ask me. Nowadays, the 1990 incident would've left Senna with disqualification and probably no title

  • @weallfollowmanutd

Bollocks. Overhead camera clearly shows Prost turned in early. Besides, Senna's McLaren should have been on the the clean side of the track from the get-go. If P1 was on the correct side, Senna would have likely led from pole to flag.

  • @weallfollowmanutd you don't understand the meaning of racing. if you want to observe codard drivers then don't consider F1. people want drivers with ball that decide to make quite nearly impossible moves rather than drivers like Jenson Button. Jenson can drive well, but he is not an overtaker. people like drivers with balls like Gilles Villeneuve, Ayrton da Silva, Kimi Raikkonen and so on.

  • 0:22 So impressive!!! You can just C Nikki Lauda not wanting to battle for 2nd/3rd but Senna the driving prophet just did not give him a choice.

  • its sadly ironic that niki lauda was campaigning for better racing safety when senna won the race that put him on the radar. rip senna

  • What a lot of people don't know is that Alain Prost first met Senna before this race. They went chatting to the circuit, but after Prost got the pole, Senna stopped talking to him!. Then Senna hit Prost on the first lap and got him out of the race. Sounds familiar

  • Ex F-1 Champions x Rookie Senna

    Senna wins.

  • 0:27 - Very impressive the way Senna slides over the corners!!!

  • @CescoManier No shit...it's AYRTON SENNA DA SILVA, trying to make a point...

  • Look at the difference between Senna making the curve and the other riders.

  • Any doubts watch Top gear Senna's tribute, Simply the Best!

  • @littleayrton54

from your name i can see where your allegiance lies. 1989 Senna went for a move that was never going to work, at no point was he ever in front of Prost or have any chance of making it work, the collision was Senna's fault in my opinion. If you take away that disqualification (i will admit it was a joke of a decision) you could apply one to 1990 for the same reason Schumacher was disqualified in 1997. He should've had only one of those years and he did, 1990.

  • speed tv shud show a collection of all of sennas wins

  • Exactly , the best for ever !

  • speed god...

  • HE ALWAYS WINS,NO METTER HOW,FASTER CARS SLOWER CARS,SAME CARS,DIFFERENT CARS,EITHER YOU OR THE WORLD WHANT IT OR NOT,HE IS THE BEST DRIVER THAT EVER EXIST.HE IS AYRTON SENNA FROM BRSIL,HE IS THE BEST...

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing and rare footage, thanks for uploading!

Senna was the absolute best and will always be!

  • The commentator forgets that in that very same race, in equal Mercedes, Prost -not senna- got the pole position, and Senna rammed off Prost at the first corner. Dirty driving, as always. If you do race cars, you'll understand the importance of fair sportmanship.

  • @longde

Senna = dangerous. at least 1 champion title he got by crashing alain prost in the formula 1.

  • @hlidskjalf666

Hello , you should look the complete vidéo of the Suzuka accident in 1989 , Ayrton was not responsible !!! , he had been injustly disqualified by , the french JM Balestre. He lost the the supreme title by the fault of this man. What happened in 1990 is the consequence of this injustice. I' m french and pilote too , and i know recognize who was the best driver , it was not Alain Prost . Désolé ;)

  • @littleayrton54 It was entirely Senna's fault. Prost just raced the normal line, like he'd done in the previous 40 something laps. Senna couldn't pass him, so he decided to try all or nothing. Quoting Niki Lauda: "Alain did not at all drive unfair, the driver, who is behind the other is always guilty at accidents. Prost is absolutely innocent!".

  • @slicktires2011 : in races there is no "normal" line there is a circuit. There is a wide circuit used by all. Sorry but it was Alain Prost who pointed in the direction of Ayrton (at the right). Prost recognize him even now have "a share" of responsibility when he denied at the time, in 1989 !

  • Senna's Mercedes can still be seen at the Nurburgring. I saw it, I touched it. magic!

  • the best of the bet of the best....Senna...Brasil

  • This is a historic video. Before Senna take his 13th place in Monaco, before the start, he said: "I am really confident, before I won with Mercedes and beat Lauda". The legend was starting.

  • This is very rare footage, thanks for posting it, up to now i've only read about this day!

  • yea amazing to finally see it

  • The car he won in is in the mercedes-benz museum..

Apparently the head of it then was upset at the time coz he wanted a champion to win the race to attract more people but now says looking back he wouldn't have it any other way!

  • thanks for the info

  • Ooh nice rare footage! Where did you find that?

As I've always pointed out, like very few drivers save Gilles and Clark, Senna was clearly a genius from the start, not just by looking back as his career.

  • Ayrton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • WOW man thx for this!

  • yeah man

    senna is the best!

  • Simply the best ever, nothing more to say.

  • @viducce

    top 3.

lets not forget that his 11 year in Formula-1 showed his performance were quite erratic.

3 titles (of wich 1 was doubtful ) in the dominant winning team of Mclaren-Honda. 16 counted collisions with other drivers. He could do magic for sure! But the best ever he is not.

  • @viducce not really no.

  • @viducce simply he is the best of his era. we can not compare him with fernando, lewis or michael..

  • R.I.P.
