  • It's always sad to see a great athlete have his career halted by injuries.

  • Minor was just ahead of his time. Great athletism, but not skilled enough for the time or his position. Once his knees gave out, and grounded his gm, this became more relevant. In todays gm he would have been great, but back then he was a work in progress which injuries haulted

  • Knees, knees, knees... Damn!!! Beautiful, gifted player, especially offensively!

  • baby jordan wearingn #32....he didnt looked like he sucked. i wonder what happened y he couldnt have a long career in the nba.

  • I found this out by listening to Petros talk about him on the Loose Canons. Really is a shame he didnt get adequate playing time for someone who was destined to be great...This video mourns the death of his career. Sad. RIP

  • When a kid comes along that can create and score as freely as Miner you don't bench him, EVER!! Let the Miner tragedy serve a lesson in this if nothing else! Whilst you can teach defense, you can't teach what this guy had, uniquely brilliant in so many ways by yesterday's, today's and tomorrows standards!! The league was a lesser place in your absence HM!!

  • This video made Miner look not so "minor." He was fun to watch.

  • baby jordan!!

  • This sh*t is DEEEEPRESSING!!! Did he die... damn!! WTF happend to him? He was pretty cold it lookd like too. A time in the NBA where they actually took 2 STEPS for it not to be a travel... ha ha.

  • Damn Sure Didn't End Up Being Baby Jordan But Shit...I Damn Near Went Blind Watching This Video..This Nigga Played In The 90's, Mane...Watchin' This Video U'd Think It Was 60's Or Some Shit...

  • Baby Jordan, you will never be forgotten.

  • Miner would be an allstar (see Vince Carter) at anytime or a valuable contributor at worst (see OJ Mayo) in the post Jordan era (when hand checking was ruled out) . He was a big guard with very good handle, athletic, and could finish on the break. Transport guys like Shawn Marion to the Jordan/Magic/Bird era and we would be talking about them like we do Miner.

  • Only someone on youtube would say Harold Minor came in the league at the wrong time being the only thing that held him back.

  • worst music for a basketball clip I've ever heard

  • Miner came out of Morningside High School in Inglewood Ca. Just down the street from the Great Western Forum. Former Laker Elden Campbell and WNBA star Lisa Leslie also played ball for Morningside

  • naw, no offense is taken

  • sick music

  • Miami fucked his carrer up i know his knees went but screw Miami for not giving him a fair shake.

  • am I watching Braveheart or some shit?

  • What's the name of the background music

  • this is going to sound crazy but harold has the best style when it comes to dunks. Vince carter is the best nba dunker ever but i like the harold miner style. the way he jumps, its very uniform and perfect with a monster vertical leap. how he smashes the rim with swish dunks... that left handed windmill dunk is sooo underrated. And i like it way more than any between the leg remixed dunk. its just perfect. Not the greatest dunker, but #1 in the style department. everything he did was electric

  • baby jordan

  • "Owww quelllle claqueyyytte !" mdrr l'accent de ce type...eddie qqch.

Yeah, Minor like Rider, was a player destined to be huge but either adversity or personal failure caught up with their fates.

GHill, Penny H...Oden today. The list goes on.

Ppl forget Miner got 2 SDunk trophies though, 93 n 95.

I've never seen such power from a....6'4'' (?) guy. Yeah, he's listed at 6 5 I think, but there's no way he is.

  • @yoe91 6 '3" 1/2 at most. i have no ideo why they started listing him at 6'5"

so sad. because his one on one drives where even more impressive than his dunks- these clips do no justice to some dribble drives i seen when he drove to the basket.

i wish he stayed one more year at usc for more experience which he needed. but when kobe came out he was doing dumb plays but he got more of a chance when he screwed up than miner. one turn over and lockery would bench miner.

  • @nystagmus Oh well, I didn't know he'd went through such a hard time but, yeah, talk about second and third and 100th chances - KOBE.

Shoots 4 airballs in ONE playoff game; screws up fancy dribbles every time down the court - dumb passes - personal to the core - nice little trip to the finals with papa Shaq in 2000...

granted he got the job done later, but he's always been in EXCELLENT company and when he wasn't, well, L.A. didn't so much make the playoffs.

  • @nystagmus I stood next to Harold Minor today. He introduced himself as Harold. he stands at 6'5.

  • I was told Harold recently did an interview... does any1 Know if its on youtube!?

  • and because of knee injuries he retired in 96' he would have had a good carreer.

  • I loved Harold back then..especially at USC..!!

    H~

  • Lougherty pretty much shitted on him (why i dont think any1 knows) maybe dude had a bad attitude suntin but statistically his ppm were ridiculous factoring in he didnt get much playing time *shrugs*

  • For people that don't know, he had one of the highest points-per-minute averages in the league when he was with the Heat. Kevin Loughery (worst. coach. ever.) barely played him... add to that multiple knee surgeries and being the only player in history to have "Jordan" in his knickname, no one could live up to that kind of pressure and bad fortune. The video doesn't claim he was the greatest player in the NBA, it's simply a nice tribute for fans. Not sure about the music, he's not dead ya know!

  • for the people that dont know anything about the guy he scored 10 points a game for 3 seasons with the heat the got shiped to cleveland and really just didnt play

  • Can't stand the flute !

  • man, i miss seeing my boy H M play ball....

  • @MrNimpho69 Miss What he wasnt a very good ball player at all. He could dunk thats all. Your Boy you say Lol my friend. He was an awful Heat player. I know I am a heat fan. No offense I hope is taken.

  • he got no playing time , but i think kevin lockery did a marbury /dantoni on him....

  • he was a bum

  • He was the shit at SC. Too bad the fuckin media kept comparing him to Jordan just because they "looked alike"....

  • I hate kevin Lockery

  • HAROLD MINER WAS A BEAST....TOOOOO UNDERRATED FOR HIS TIME

  • HAROLD MINER WAS A BEAST....TOOOOO UNDERATED FOR HIS TIME

  • okay.. this video made harold miner really look like a mvp type player.. so what reeaally happened to this dude

  • Whats up with this music... It just tears the BBall mood up.

  • 1. This music fucking sucks. 2. Who cares if he was "Baby Jordan" or "Baby Jesus", shouldn't effect how someone plays. 3. A LOT of players look dominant in college, because they're playing against future teachers, business managers, interior designers, etc... see: Beasley, Michael for a current example.

  • @HooliganMovement Micheal Beasley is good...bad comparison

  • Heat fans please understand...before Dewayne Wade, there was Harold Miner. I personally think he just came in the league at the wrong time. Dude was a beast!!!

  • @keefee79 I see similar moves in Wade... especially the spin step into the lane.

  • @lucrativeangst Dont you ever compare D Wade to this garbage. Miner was i terrible basketball player, I know i have been a hHeat fan since the begining. Miner was good for tricks that about it... He was a great Dunker! Big Deal.

  • @gentlelovingmanUSA Calm down gentlehatingman... I mentioned ONE MOVE that Harold did is similar to a move Wade does often, jeez! Guess it takes a TRUE Heat fan to act like a jackass.

  • yeah! right!, the baby Jordan.

  • i swear im watching a left handed michael jordan

  • he was like the reggie bush of USC college football

  • this music makes me wanna take a nap getting sleepy lol

  • LOL they showed that specific free-throw from 9:09-9:17 as if it was one of his greatest highlights!

  • Thumbs up if you think the music selection is soft and could have been better

  • man the talent level of players in the nba during the jordan era was incredible and it goes to show you jst how good JORDAN WAS

  • @azodyze true that. not too many people want to agree with that though. I don't know why. 90s NBA was the greatest decade in my opinion.

  • Is it me or did he do the same dunks a bunch of times in the Dunk contest part?? lol correct me if im wrong and im here cause of Yahoo damn it lol

  • Is it me or did he do the same dunks a bunch of times in the Dunk contest part?? lol correct me if im wrong

  • I didn't know the miami heat team had "Baby Jordan" Hmm interesting I think if he's still playing today for sure,he would be next or maybe comparison to MJ not for Kobitch....His moves perfect match for MJ....He's alot better than Kobitch!....He should be living legacy.

  • Thumbs up if Yahoo Article caused you to search Miner on Youtube.

  • @iamzero79 I swear that article plus , I have this card of him shooting over jordan

my oldest brother had scince the longest, and I was just thinking who was he? lmao

  • @iamzero79 You psychic you.

  • @iamzero79 other way around. I watched this, saw your post then read the article. Thx

  • @iamzero79 Funny, this was a year ago, but another Yahoo article led me here today. LOL

  • Miner was ok, this vids make him look better than he was. He only aavervage ten points per game his fir season, less than that his third, and ony 3 points per game his last season! So lets not make him better than what he was. @TheRatedX7, he wasn't black listed, he blew out his knee three years straight and could play anymore after the last time.

  • I only know him because Jay-Z "matter fact you harold miner, jr rider

    washed up on marijuana

even worse you a pervis ellis

    you worthless fella

you aint no athlete you shawn bradley"

  • @TommyTonic10 lmao, never knew who he was talking about till now, I had is card for the longest also

  • @mozdadon2 Lol you thought he just made up a name?

  • I like the song but Harold Miner was overrated

  • Great Post I didnt knew the hEaT had a player of the talent Harold Miner had back then in the early 90,s

  • this music captures how sad his story really is

  • The comparisons to MJ are undeniable. The talent was there. However, throughout his tenure with Miami, he was hampered by injuries. It's just a shame that after a season-ending knee surgery in 1996, he severely sprained the same knee after slipping on a wet spot in 1997. That's when he decided that was enough. It's such a shame that such a promising career ended when he was 25. Thumbs up so people will know.

  • Harold miner is a boss and a great guy.

  • BABY J

  • i would love to see harold miner go against michael jordan on that timeline.

  • there is an article on yahoo sports about him:::: he is speaking out fo the 1st time in almost 18 years...

  • No hes not dead

  • excuse me what is the music that you are playing in the video? who is the composer ? thank you.

  • he's one in 1000 nba players that know how to manage his money so he doesnt go bankrupt

  • @ caliguyalbie11: no, harold miner lives right by me, in LA. He's a cool guy.

  • @powena01

he lives in las vegas -_-

  • @powena01

he lives in las Vegas -_-

  • Is Harold Miner dead? This video is like a video montage for a funeral.

  • @caliguyalbie11 lmao true

  • he reminds of richard jefferson kinda decent jumpshot but he can also be explosive

  • You can't knock on his physical potential and talent but I think mentally he wasn't ready for whatever the NBA had for him. Look at Adam Morrison, who was literally a college basketball god but when he was being given high expectations he can't realistically fill in the bobcats, he sucked even more.

Though I do agree that if Miner played now, he'd be an all star bar none.

  • @newagepun They put to much pressure on him by hyping up this baby jordan thing....his only common traits was that he could jump and he kept his head shaved most of the times.....he was talented but did not have Jordan's all around game, heart, and fearless spirit

  • @BloodBoxing well of course you put player X against jordan and they are certainly going to fall short. I mean during the 90's there were guards who had big ups like him, Kobe, Ray Allen, Isiah Rider and Vince Carter and they had a measure of success and were special in their own way.

  • I liked him. He wasn't that bad as many say. He wasn't just a dunker, he had some skills and while in Miami he enjoyed a good career. Then he got lost, probably because of his lack of work or for other reasons that we'll never know, but he was quite good.

I liked the Heat back then, they had a spectacular team with Miner+Rice+S.Smith

Ps. What's up with the music? He's not dead...

  • I remembered Harold Miner like as it was yesterday and I really do feel like the NBA has missed out on a top NBA Star. How come a different team didn't try to sign him?

  • I love all the footage but that song makes it seems like this is his obituary.

  • Wow he was a good player but when people started to call him baby jordan it fucked his career up.

  • What is the name of the song.

  • Does anyone know the name to this song?

  • One of my favorite players as a kid, I was so sad to see him fade into oblivion, anyone know what the hell happened to him & where he's at?

  • @JeffTheFutureJaros He's into real estate and lives in Las Vegas.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO Really? That's cool, glad to see he's still Alive & doing well. Thanks & Peace.

  • i find the jersey of harold miner im a greatest fans

  • vive baby jordan une sacré bonne époque domage pour lui

  • Why did he change his jersey number from 32 to 4??

    ...Anyone?

  • This is just a guess but I think Miner changed his number because it was the reverse of 23 and he was trying to get away from the Baby Jordan label as much as possible.

  • @michaelvj50

he changed his number from 32 to 4 because (reportedly) he was trying to reverse his fortune. harold being superstitious was the least of this...many close to him say he has personality quirks.

  • I was in grad school at USC when Harold Miner was there and attended most of the home basketball games for his three years. Not only was Miner supremelely talented at creating his own shot, getting open, and taking over a game when his team needed him most, but also he was one of the most humble, quiet, unassuming, shy guys I've ever seen play ball. NBA success depends on a combo of talent, hard work, the right fit, and staying healthy. Too bad it was so short for Harold, because he was special.

  • @newtojo well said.

  • @newtojo nba is politics too. Who knows why Harold was unsuccessful in the Nba

  • @newtojo so true...if people let him be harold miner and not jordan, he woulda been great, but they all expected him to be as good as jordan...also if he wasnt injured plagued that would have helped...but miner was amazing!

  • So on a different note. I understand the emotions that this music is supposed to invoke. But it's over the top and annoying. Sorry :(

  • @claritarejoice I AGREE! This music MUST GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He sucked,QUIT at age 24.....Now wont talk to anybody because he's a loser........BABY jordan my ass.....everybody dunked on HAKEEM,scottie pipen was over rated.....

  • Dam suprisinG that someone would waste there time going to a Youtube page of someone they hate. All to release their toxic souls impureities. You wont catch me going to a Kwame Brown Youtube page even thO head had no game. Sound like u got some personel issues due.

  • @ wheelbite

  • Brian Shaw a former teammate and now assistant coach for the lakers says of him: "if you isolated him inside and just gave him the ball, he was virtually unstoppable because he just had that one-on-one, playground-type game and finished so strong. He was just a tremendous individual talent." If Harold would've went to a run and gun team he would've been a star like Shawn Marion with the Suns. Plus with the ticky tack foul rules the Nba has now he'd be dominate. He was exciting. Have respect.

  • Why do u Harold Miner haters even check out this video?? For all of you who say he was just a dunker. His last year in College he was the Pac-Ten PLAYER of the year and SI selected him as PLAYER of the year of Shaq, Zo, etc. He averaged 26.3 pts and 7 rebounds. He and Kareem are the only Pac Ten players to score 2,000 points in three years. No, he didn't have a great NBA career, but He was fun to watch. Several NBA players of today really enjoyed watching him too.

  • Dunk over Hakeem Olajuwon at 5:53 ... Score over Scottie Pippen at 5:03 ... those are hall-of-fame defenders in the prime of their careers.

  • authentic jersey??

  • THERE IS A big REASON WHY NO nba TEAMS SIGN HIM AFTER HIS 4th SEASONS.................

  • The same reason why Mike Fratello and Jeff Van Gundy have gotten job after job ...

  • I have seen & many of us NBA fans see players that can't score, yet play Ds & understand the the game last many years in the NBA.

  • Still looking for his authentic 32 Heat Jerzey.

  • i still have his jersey , number 32

  • what happen to him now?

  • what!!!!he could due way more than dunk!!! his mid range was off the chart..you do not avg 29pts on just dunks..

  • He never ever average 29 pts. His career Average is 9 pts. (10.3, 10.5, 7.3 & 3.2)

    4 seasons (1st 2 r full seasons, last 2 r about 60 games.

9 pts average, 200 total games played

    47 starts, 18 minutes a game

    .460 FG%, .311 3p%, .785 FT% for a G

    1 OFF & 1 D rebound average

    1 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 1.39 TO, 1.9 PF

    Stat don't lie!!!!!!!

  • This guy knew how to sell a dunk in a dunk contest. Watch at the 1:56 mark. I guarantee that he knew exactly what dunk he wanted to do, but he was so good and taking his time and building anticipation. Never in a hurry. Quiet confidence.

  • thats why i liked him so much. He was real quiet but he did some amazing things on the court. Especially his one on one dribbling. Not a great defender but horrible. I watched every game he played in the nba and some things like pulling him out of games when he was on fire were a mystery for many. And just sitting him out the entire game until the last 30 seconds- it was just crazy.

btw, this footage is nothing to some of the amazing things he has done. Anyone have more footage??? thanks

  • I guess he is the Old School And1 player. I saw him play too. He got offensive skills, take nothing from him, BUT a superb "shake & bake, turn around, between the legs, reverse lay up is good, BUTTTTTT followed by leaving his D 3 or 4 times after it & allow the other team get away from him is killing the team and coaches hated that. One good play on offense follow by a few bad Ds is just not going to keep a player long in the NBA.

  • Brad Miller and Juwan Howard have NEVER played defense but are all-stars and have been around way too long. Can you give any specific examples of Miner playing poor defense? Worse than someone like Michael Redd or Carmelo Anthony?

  • U r comparing Minor to Michael Redd and Carmelo Anthony? And even Brad Miller and Juwan Howard? This is not even an argument, nevertheless a comparison. Miller and Howard last this long because they can help the team that they play for, may not be the best D, but they know the game. Michael Redd & Carmelo Anthony are NBA Stars. Harold Minor who?????

  • you have to realize that when they were coming into the league it was becoming more fast paced.when minor played it wasn't fast pace we had fast pace player like jordan, penny, grant hill just to say a few.but the game wasn't you see now a days you don't have yo play D its all about who has the better offense

  • @BillyBadAssENT I agree!

  • What about Steve Nash?? Steve Nash is terrible defensively, and his team, whether he played for Dallas or Phoenix, is always regarded as a poor defensive team, but nobody is going to run Steve Nash out of the NBA for being a terrible defensive player!

  • U don't get it. Steve Nash will be a Hall of Fame!!!! He got many skills, including Ds. May not be the best D guard, but he got game. R u comparing Steve Nash to Harold Minor here?

The issue is that - the reason Harold Minor last a few years in the NBA because, even though, he is a great dunker & show flash here and there, NBA teams & Coaches sees that he can't play.

    Let me ask u this:

Why did Minor last 4 yrs in the NBA? & why is that Steve Nash an all start & 2 time mvps?

  • I watch him play college ball and pro. and see footage of high school. In high school, team play on D and individual player can showcase their O game. But Harold has not D in the NBA, that's why he did not last long. Even when he is with the Heat, he couldn't play D, and the coach complain about it.

  • Brad Miller and Juwan Howard don't play D but they have been all stars and both have had long careers... even though defense from a big man is even more important than from a guard.

  • You're right, but B Miller & J Howard also play well in other areas. They scores, rebounds, do different things that help the team. Players like them often do have a long career in a supporting role & some yrs make it as stars a year or two. there are many players that make the all stars because of good year or lack of positional great players. But player like Minor is purely dunker who cannot shoot, play Ds, or run set play. There r more players gone w/in a year or 2 w/same reason.

  • To say that Miner was purely a dunker is rediculous. You obviously haven't even watched the video you're commenting on. Miner was a very creative scorer and produced points in a variety of ways. Look at all the little baby hooks, bank shots, double clutch layups, etc! He also shot a solid FT percentage, and was good at getting to the line.

  • the over statement of Miner being a dunker is because players are mostly known 4 what they often do best only. I grew up watching PAC 10 and saw him play college as well as his short stink in the NBA. This clips is only 9:59 minutes of his career from his "best." the 1st 4 minutes is his dunking contest replay over & over again. the next 2:40 (to 6:33) minutes is clips of dunkings & lay up at the rim. this clip show his 1st jump shot at 6:33, of about dozen regular jump shots, NOT THREES.

  • the last few 2nd show Miner concentration at the free throw line.

He played 4 seasons, 3 4 miami & a few games for Cleveland. average 9 pts. start less than 50 games his whole career. ok 3pt%. under .500 shootings & average.700+ free throw for a G. We just can't say he is good. His career show that he is not even average player. If you say Harold Miner, 1st thing come to mind is "DUNK." There are many players last longer, average higher, Got Ds, role players that v don't care remember.

  • I remember when he came out of college, sports media label him "baby jordan" - nothing close to it.

Coaches & sports shows critic Miner as no Ds. Its hard to believe that he can D Jordan or even slow Jordan dow a bit in 95/96 playoff. John Stock (?)

of NY and R. Miller of Pacers & other w/Ds reputations still struggles. W/a 9 pts average, he last 4 short seasons. Others with 4 - 5 pts average have played yrs in the NBA because of other contributions to the team.

  • this clip does no justice to his one on one game. he had some amazing one on one dribbling. I never saw anything like it. I liked his one one one plays even better than the dunks. But one thing he was bad at was defense. I had a feeling Kevin Louchery didnt' like him too much in miami.

  • The Heat could have really used Miner's athleticism in their playoff matchups with Jordan's Bulls in the mid 90s, especially in the 95/96 playoff series. Pippen had 8 offensive boards in the deciding game of that series, and the Bulls had a decided advantage all series at the wing positions when it came to fighting for rebounds and loose balls. The 95/96 Heat team was terribly unathletic at the SG/SF positions.

  • I don't know but I got to assumed that the reason 95/96 he is not w/Miami is because he can't D.

Miner's no Ds is well known in the league, on the news, that's why no one signed him after his 4th seasons, even at 9pts average.

just like Yinka Dare, who can't shoot & gone after a season but he was talk about a lot coming out of college.

Not because I don't like Miner, it's because I think I give a more constructive critic of him from what I heard from ESPN, SI, & c him play on TV.

  • Harold Miner I think was just a Dunker I heard only about that he Could DUNK!...nothing else...so what's the Truth??

  • Avg over 30 in high school and close to that in college. You can't just dunk your way to that many points. He was a great player in high school and college.

  • thanks I didn't know that

  • no. awesome one on one player

  • He got blacklisted like Darvin Ham did.

  • y did both of them get blacklisted!?

  • @TheRatedIX7 why was darvin ham blacklisted? He was a good guy and decent bench player.

  • @TheRatedIX7 what do you mean?

  • comment un aussi bon joueur à pu ne pas être une stars de la NBA BABY JORDAN je t'adore MINER tout ç a a causse de l'entraineur des HEAT à l'époque il l'aimé pas. I LOVE MINER

  • What team might have been a better fit for Harold Miner at the time he was drafted? Miami obviously didn't need him seeing they were giving Glen Rice and Steve Smith all the minutes on offense! Then later it was Alonzo Mourning. It was a wasted draft pick by the Heat and a ruined opportunity for a talented shooting guard. Both sides got screwed! Sad.

  • to this day I still wonder what in the world went wrong with Harold Miners career.

  • He just seemed to never be in the right spot. In Miami he got some burn (about 19 mins/game) during his 3 years there but there was a crunch for mins with guards like Steve Smith, Brian Shaw, Bimbo Coles. With the Cavs he had to fight for mins with Terrell Brandon, Bobby Phills, Bobby Sura. Miner had the misfortune of playing for coaches who did not recognize and nurture his talent and potential.

  • Nothing. He retired on his own and decided not to be in the NBA. He wanted to be a recluse.

  • What's the song's name? :).

  • Baby Jordan Himself...and this dude is only like 6'3....

  • Miami Heat- Point Guard: Steve Smith Shootin Guard: Harold Miner talk about what coulda been....

  • Yo how bout the out of bounds play against Jim Jackson and Ohio St.

  • respect he was my dunking idol in 90´ :)

  • such a shame that such an amazing player wasnt given a fair chance to be the superstar that he was. he was the fuckin best.

  • what's with the music? Is the Titanic about to sink?

  • Nice job on the mix... Too bad Miner had the right coaches in the NBA to take him to the next level. He had big star potential...

  • Harold Miner was fucking terrible.

  • He was great player, even better than mj

  • O__o

  • Which MJ?

  • Michael Jackson

  • Anyone know the song in the background?

  • Great college player. Great athlete. Had the skills. Phenominal dunker. Too bad he got a shitty deal. He was never able to get on a team where he fit in with the chemistry. If so, he would've been a lot better.
