.....Two things to bear in mind: First off, the shorter the file type, the better. Smaller file sizes are your friend. Secondly, remember to send it from your email client to the email address your carrier has set aside for either PICUTRE MESSAGES or MULTIMEDIA MESSAGES. Again, they should mention these addresses somewhere on their respective sites. Hopefully this all works out for you, and you'll be nerding out at 3am like me when i finally got it XD HAPPY UPLOADING! :)
.......again, this is just for sprint people. You use whatever email address your carrier uses (usually you can find the address to send picture messages, or multimedia messages, as either type works) STEP THREE: send the email. Once you've loaded the file type, and attached it in the email, send it to your phone, you should receive it and be able to click the audio icon and select "set as Ringer" and just choose "messages". ...........
........and set it as a file type. I got mine to work as an mp3 as i find it has the best quality, but it also works as .qcp (with reduced quality). SECOND STEP: Send it in an email to your phone. Makesure you send it as a MMS (multi-media message) or equivelant, or else the file size of the email could cause your client to reject the message. As i mentioned, i have sprint, so the sprint folks can send it to (insert your 10 digit phone number here)@pm.sprint.com and.............
So, i was trying to do this FOREVER, and i figured it out. Before i write this, i should mention three things: 1) I have sprint, 2) i have gmail, and 3) i used the file type .mp3. I noticed @rufiani had amethod that may damage your phone. I figured out how to send the file type directly to your phone via email. First step: select the file you want to set as a text ringtone (trimming it up with any audio editing program to about 10 sec or less helps with file sizes)......
turn it back on.....find the text that failed to be delivered...touch the paperclip audio file attachment on it and ull get options.....one is to assign to text message, voicemail, etc... it's almost like you gotta trick your phone into using the mp3 cuz if you just try to assign an mp3 to your tones it says invalid file...hope this helps anyone still using this phone
@rufiani this sounds like it would work and the easiest way with best quality, but my phone (rumor touch) doesnt have an option to attach an audio clip. only options are picture, video or voice. any suggestions? ive tried adding the mp3 to my playlist, and ive tried the changing the extension thing in the DCIM, but i must not understand how to actually change it.
@rufiani Ahg, you must have a different model because all of this worked, up until the part where it says assign to text message, voicemail, etc. I only have the option to set as a ringer, and it turns out that it only works for calls for me. :(
ok dude did this to try and help you and share some knowledge so theres no reason whatsoever to get on him about it.....if anyone still cares or is curious about how to assign mp3's to your text message, alarm,or voice mail indications here is what i did that worked........put an mp3 if your sounds folder (take it to your memory card dcim folder...move it to SOUND....then create and send a text message to anyone and attach an audio file along with....shut your phone off while its sending......
@whizkeybill wow you are retarded. How about you stop being a troll and tell how you do it. And by the way when you say I "Haven't done my research" I was the first one to figure out how to get ringtones on the phone without a data plan.
BETTER WAY!!!!! : find any mp3 song you want. change the extention to .3g2 and put it in the dcim folder on the microsd card. and WAAALLLL LAAA!! great quailty sound without that crappy voice record crap.
first of all there is a better way of gettin text tones without having to record, this way gets you shitty quality, second of all they do know cuz obvioulsy all the people who viewd this didint find this informative, because you have no thank you comments or video likes
@SolidEve ok then first of all how do you get tones w/o recording? second maybe the people who view this video dont have a youtube.... third stop trolling the video
@TheCrg1995 im send it to you the steps in a pm, it wont let me post it for some reason, after you see this work, make a video about it, cuz it will be worth watching
