The 101st Airborne Division nowadays is an "Air Assault" Division, they operate using mostly helicopters. The 82nd Airborne, however is still a real Airborne Division, and use planes to operate.

I know that the 101st had Easy Company and Winters, who is very famous. The 82nd had to do the fighting behind the scenes. The 101st may be the cornerstone of the military, but other than Easy Company, I don't know what they did. The 101st has always been better at publicity and self promotion than the 82nd.
