Awesome. I love that sound especially a few seconds after launch when it's supersonic and you can feel and hear the Roaring sound it makes. It never gets old. Good job.
If/when you do this again, it might be worth looking into a small camera (search on ebay for sports camera, some pretty cheap) and a GPS tracker (again, might work out cheaper if you can find a phone to use). Shouldn't add too much weight, as long as it can get signal. Pretty impressive at any rate, what fuel did you use?
@SepradistPhantom We had both on board, the ATV failed on the launchpad, and the APRS failed to perform properly in flight. Last two beacons were 42,000' and 10,000 ft at 12 seconds apart. It came down at Mach 2.2 O_O!
See: v=amyIKgp0pvA for the Search and Rescue flight the next morning.
that sucks dude but $20 says u made it to space i would seriously consider about contacting NASA or some satellite company to see if it went through there
@edwinshap1 I would love to, but unfortunately it was pushed back yet ANOTHER week this year, and I have an annually recurring conflict from 27 Sept. to 2 Oct. My hope is that the event will be moved forward next year? Not to mention (as has been witnessed in years past) the weather turns quickly, and there are no guarantees the event will even be able to take place this late in the season.
@Tyrannobeast There was an ATV camera on board, but unfortunately the transmitter stopped working while the rocket was fueling. :( A working video feed may have aided in recovery, too. We never found this rocket.
FUCK ME IS THIS LEGAL ????

@quiteobserver Absolutely, this is an annual event, sanctioned and sponsored!

That is a nice launch, big amateur rockets kick ass.
I'm pretty damn excited about Copenhagen Suborbitals launch tests planned for this summer, a 60km launch is planned.

@ darknessXsmash....121,000 feet is 22.916 miles. 121,000 feet divided by 5,280 feet (1 mile) = 22.916 miles. 42 miles is 221,760 feet.

@emb11103 Nope. Space is approx 300,000 feet. Double the simmed and typical altitude for a large R rocket.

150,000?!? If you guys try this again, consider flying a camera payload. That's a fantastic vantage point.

@Mitrolaja Static test? What static test? No, there was no static test.

@Mitrolaja I have numerous videos of static testing the smaller 4" hybrids we've been doing at my site. Here's the link for two of them
