the 144, 170 , 200 are all inerchangeable ; the 250 has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as a 302 . had a 62 falcon with a 144 , put a 200 in its place . had 2 different 64 comets ; 1 had a 170 other a 200 , 64 fairlane with a 200, 70 maverick 200 , 74 maverick 250 . i think the 250 cylinder head will fit the others .
i have a 200 in my 66 coupe and i dnt know bout u all but i love mine, its not the fastest thing but its fun, besides when i wanted speed and power i invested in a 70 mach1
first of all, its a 200 and 170's arent shitty, I have one and I love it, who cares its not the fastest, its reliable and it moves my 1985 mustang just fine.
@festivafanatic01 for real man, like wit the right upgrades and proper tunning, it can be faster then most V8's..and lighter so all tht horsepower is to the wheels and not to carryin a gigantic heavy v8
no they only had the 170 in 1964 in 1965 they went to the 200 and that was the only 6 cylinder option in 1966 also. get your facts straight before commenting on things u know nothing about!
you truly are a dumbass. ford's first straight six came in 1906, their first V8 wasn't produced till 1920. the six wasn't very popular, and was produced for a very short time, but it was first. the "falcon 6" cylinder (144-250) was introduced in 1960, the windsor engines didn't come till about 1962, and didnt become popular till 65.
the 200 straight six was a b.a.m.f. motor...in a 74 bronco 3 on the tree standard trans. can pull a dumptruck (f600 or so) out of a ditch, thats with a good size load in the dumptruck too for that to get stuck
this was the factory engine, and i kept it. it was my choice to keep it, i guess i could have dropped in a 302 and a four barrel carb like everyone else, but i wanted to do something unique and fun. so kindly fuck off.
im about to order the carb adapter from cliffords so i can throw a 2 barrel on my 200

It all depends on your taste really. If you got a lil coupe with a stock i6 in, then imo i would leave it in and restore the car.
If it came stock with a v8, then i would custom the car and engine. Just my opinion.
I have got a 66 coupe with an i6 in. It is almost ready for primer !!

Ford had a 300 inline six for the F-150. That was a great motor! It was like driving a V8.

@jammer96
I own a 1965 Mustang with a 200 6. I own a 1990 F-150 with a 300 6. I love them both!

v8's before sixes ha ur stupid
IGotYourBack91 3 years ago
Hey, there is nothing wrong with our straight 6s. They are more reliable, and a hell of a lot easier to take care of than a v8.
2509SilverLink 3 years ago 2
MdoGGiZZel hotrods used sixes before v8's took over. sixes are just as good.

correction the very first ever V8 engine that was introduced in a passenger car came out in the 1932 ford roadster thats what makes 32's so special
