  • I like the Shaggs and the Murmaids, however the Murmaids were infinitely more polished. This track was co-written and produced by Mr. Kim Fowley, who discovered Joan Jett and managed The Runaways.

  • Some terrifically bitter lines in the lyrics.

  • Wow! This is such a simple song with only drum instrumentation but the girls carry it off. The reference to the Shaggs is ridiculous. Very nice.

  • @johnnyaa Yes I agree with you.Thank you and drop by anytime... :)

  • enjoying this very much.. thank you

  • There is absolutely nothing improvised, a cappella, or reminiscent of the Shaggs about this recording. What misinformed statements.

  • @onlinemonikers I do not like to comment on other artist, but I have heard The Shaggs and they do not know how to sing or carry a tune, but neither do I.This is only my opinon. The performance of a group and how it is recieived is all up to the listner. The Murmaids were an excellent girl group, and even though they had only one big hit "Popsicles And Icicles" , it will long be remembered.Thank you

  • "Popsicles and Icicles" was and still is a favorite.

The b-side of "Comedy and Tragedy" was a bonus when I bought the 45.

It may have a simple sound but there is something about it that is very catchy.

  • @mysterxyz Yes it does have that.I like it because it has that natural and unrehearsed (possibly improvised) feel to it.I'm glad that you enjoyed it.Thank you for dropping in... :)

  • wow...sounds as bad as the Shaggs. Eeek...listen to the Shaggs and you'll agree.

  • @jejune14 Well it sounds to me like an improvised session, but I like it because it lets you in on what it is like to be at the studio while they practice a song before it gets that polished finished sound.Drop by anytime.

  • Nice vocal harmonies, done basically acapella with minimal instrumentals.. strong vocal arrangements during this era were done quite a bit with groups that could actually sing..like The Murmaids!

  • Thank you.Yes this one is simple and sounds like an improvised session, but It came out good. Thanks for stopping by.
