Ten Q = thank you,,, es un juego de palabras en inglés, pero en español no significa los mismo por lo que se usa la pregunta ¿Diez cuentos, diez cuernos, diez cuentas? etc
As a fluent Spanish speaker, allow me to help with the translation. As one of the posters below said, the "Ten-Q" pun doesn't translate into Spanish, so in this version he says "Diez cuentos, diez cuernos, o diez cuentas?" Literally, that means "Ten stories, ten horns, or ten bills?"
I never thought this sketch would appear on a foreign version of Sesame Street: as the Marshal said, the "10-Q/you're welcome" pun just doesn't translate.
Ernie here says "Diez cuentos", which means Ten stories. I don't understand what the pu of "Diez Q" is, but it's not the "thank you/you're welcome" joke.
Actually in spanish there's no joke. I mean, they tried to work it, but it's almost impossible, so, it's not a joke, just a words game, a silly words game. He say ¿diez cuentos, diez cuernos o diez cuentas? Because of the Diez Cu.
@contraelfuegodoc Agreed.. I tried searching for the original English version of this and it does not appear to be here. *sighs* Some times multi language translations of puns just do not work very well. :) But they try they're best and sometimes that is good enough.

This joke doesn't work in spanish. Diez Cu is the literal way to say it, but doesn't sound like Thank u or Gracias.
contraelfuegodoc 2 years ago
Exactly. It's a new joke that I don't understand.
