  • does anyone know where to find more of his footage?

  • Darrell and I served in Air Force together. 1977 I actually shot from his equipment! Anybody know how to get in touch with him?

  • @moissanitestar Try Facebook, I know for sure that he has an account there... Good luck.

  • possibly the best archer EVER!

His form was 20 years ahead of the rest of the archery world

i would love to see what he could of done with todays equipment. 1400 fita maybe?

  • Todays equipment is not significantly better than twenty years ago. Hoyt, win&win etc all bring out new models and claim they are better because there is a demand for the latest technology. They know that consumers want to feel they have the edge. It's about marketing.

  • The today's equipment IS better than the one of those years, just remind that Darrel wons the 1984 Olympics with aluminum arrows! While it is true that for high level archers, like Darrel, the today's equipment will make small score increments, the today's equipment is better. And probably an archer with the Darrel's capabilities will hit the 1400, I guess.

  • I'm not saying that the kit isn't better, I'm saying that for most archers it makes very little diference. Pace and McKinney had the pick of the gear too. Now the products are more consistant meaning that there is little or no difference between two bows off the same production line. There is no way Pace would have shot 1400 with the gear we have now. Lighter arrows and faster bows do mean you don't have to be so strong to shoot 90m. If you want to score better then practice better.

  • Ypou are right, if you want to score better you have to become a better archer, not a better equipment owner. However, I believe that humans limitation can be overtaken by equipment, so a better equipment gives you the capability to score better. And besides, for most archers equipment makes a great difference, in fact thanks to equipment they can compensate their errors keeping a reasonable shoot.

  • That is true. However I believe that in the long term it masks the errors of the archer. Too much emphasis is given to the bow. I shoot a Spigarelli Revolution, not because I believe it is the most accurate bow on the market (personally the grip is far too low) but because I like the design and the feel. I shoot just as well with a 20-year-old Hoyt GM. But it sounds like running over a rock with a lawn mower when I shoot.

  • The arrow is swinging under the clicker, I didn't expect it from a big champion as he is.

  • I realized only the second time I watched the video that the first frames are not related to Mr. Pace, in fact the arrow is too big and the bow arm is not the one of Mr. Pace. Sorry for my previous post.
