thank you for this video. just fished the Bolli and got treated real well. i feel your frustration on that big boy that got away in that river, happens all too often. when were you there, oct-nov?
I love that river, but I always found it to be a tough one to fish. It's hard to get those nymphs down when the water is deeper than 6 or 7 feet in a fast current. The hatches are unpredictable as well and there's no good food in the town of McCloud (just that little burger joint). Great video and keep those lines tight!
It's a pretty good fishing river for me... two bb's is usually all I need, three to four in special situations. The majority of fish I catch are only in 3 or 4 feet of water... you just have to cover a lot of it. As for food... Mt. Shasta and Dunsmuir both have some REALLY good food. The Mac is one of my favorite rivers of all time... just a spectacular fishing exerience!
The closest town in McCloud, pop. about 1000, then Mt. Shasta, pop about 5K... the nearest large town would be Redding, about an hour south, pop about 80K. There are only about 46K people in Siskiyou County.

I love this river! One of Cal's best. Let's do it a favor, don't change it!

The McCloud is truly one of the best fly fishing experiences around. Fish the Ash Camp to Ah-Di-Na stretch, its worth the work.
If you need food in Mt. Shasta, go to Billy Goats Tavern. Great beer and amazing burgers.

Nice plugs at the end. You got there on a good day. Nice hookup on that big guy! That is one classic stream... tight lines!

Were you fly fishing inside the conservancy area Or right before it starts. What type of nymphs and set up were you using. Thanks

Mt. Shasta (town) has an abundance of hotels/motels and lots of food and a couple little bars.
