@MrBenjigee Byrd most likely wrote this for a muselaar, the type of virginal whose keys are placed to the right. If you don't already know, this means the left hand jacks are in the middle of the strings, resulting in unwanted noises when notes are played in quick succession in the bass. For this reason the piece purposefully lacks complex left hand movement.
great to hear this - I have been 'trying' to play this on my keyboard with mixed success!Enjoyed the visuals too - you put a lot of artistic effort into this
I love this piece, especially when played on a Flemish instrument! I like the rather reedy bass notes. Though you left out my favorite parts, the Irish March and the Bagpipes.
I can study the touch with this wonderful video, thanks so much master.

@ernststolz well it would be better if he made the rythm a little more calmer... it bounces around too much

@SunriseHealthFoods one has to respect the composer's intentions

The left hand should be more about counterpoint than hammering out 3-4 note chords like the piano.

Wonderful tune, but the playing is a bit insensitive

Have you also played "the Hunt," by JOhn Bull? Also in the Fitzwilliam book. I think it would be one you'd play very well.

I think Byrd's music and genius is highly underestimated by the broad public

This is my favourite piece right now. Incredible what music can be made with a simple C major chord :)

Yes that is true, I still remember what an overwhelming impression it gave me, the first time I heard this.

These renaissance keyboard pieces just scream "rock" to me.
Perhaps I'm too much of a progrock freak though.
They certainly are powerfully emotional though.
