Compareing games isn't all about the gameplay and costumization it's really about codeing,GUIs and the way it can detect and get rid of bugs and Saints Row the third was horrible at that Saints Row 2 wasn't bad but Saints Row the Third probally took way shorter to make then Saints Row 2 because of Saints Row the Third's cartoonic and not well detailed graphic and very few realisms not only that Saints Row the third had the pretty much the same story line you go from scrub to not scrub so yeah.

I honestly don't understand all the hate between the two games. I think they're both brilliant. After all, it comes down to personal preference really. I had loads of fun in all of the Saint's Row games, same thing with GTA. I just choose GTA because I find the storylines personally more immersive.

I agree. And you didn't even mention the fact that the controls in GTA iv are really awkward, whereas the controls in SR3 are really intuitive. That's the kind of thing that has nothing to do with how old it is, or realism, which is opinion. In GTA I am constantly wrestling with the camera to point in a different direction than I am walking, and if I want to run I have to hold X, which makes it impossible to use the camera... plus gta has no checkpoints, which is inexcusable, what is this mario?
I love both games, but i always have much more fun whit saints row for two things:
1- Customization (I mean, even SR 2 has like 4 times more clothes than GTA 4; and of course, the character creation is awesome which was never a GTA feature)
2- Campaign coop playing (One of the best coop experience i ever had)

Saints Row the third does what GTA has lost along the way, add humor to the mix. GTA4 was way too serious. The Ballad of Gay Tony rectified that a little. That said, I really like the whole GTA franchise (and not red dead redemption) with the exception of San Andreas. I did not care if the main character lived or died, after a few hours I just stopped playing. Saints Row the Third however, way over the top slapstick action, I love it. It's a very good game, kudos THQ. But the car handling sucks.

Ok ive played all the GTA games and all the saints row games, this is more call of duty vs battlefield bullshit...just because they are somewhat the same does not mean they are alike or that you can compare them, and either way yes it would be more fair if you instead compared it to the new GTA5 not a game from 08....it doesnt make sense, its like comparingMW3 to Bad company 1.....which again you cant compare COD and BF neither can you these two just because they are sand box games...think first

GTA is old ! GTA was the best games of it's time . Saints is new , just wait for GTA 5 . Realism is better then that fake ass shit . GTA has 16 online and Saints 3 only has co-op for 2 and that's it . There are planes in GTA games but not in GTA 4 . I think because the map really isnt that big so why would you need one anyways . No , you can't just go out side like in GTA and fucking kill people and get away like nothing even happened . . One more thing GTA SA had a big purple dildo in it first

@VashTMx ok excuse me, saints row and Gta are both great games. dont put one down to the other, their totally different. you can go outside and just kill someone and act like nothing ever happened in saints row :) difference is, in Saints Row, theres more fun and fantasy added, in GTA theres more realistic shit as in

in GTA if you hold a gun, people scream or call the cops.
both are great games. and realism isnt allways the best :P

The over-the top fun and sense of ever increasing scale were sacraficed at the altar of graphic whoring. In essence, they took GTA III and updated the character models and resolution.

gta IV is the same age as saints row 2 so you should have compared them not the newer saints row you should compare gta V when that comes out so it is then more fair because then they are both up to date then and your not just comparing a newer game to an older game

Saints Row the third does what GTA has lost along the way, add humor to the mix. GTA4 was way too serious. The Ballad of Gay Tony rectified that a little. That said, I really like the whole GTA franchise (and not red dead redemption) with the exception of San Andreas. I did not care if the main character lived or died, after a few hours I just stopped playing. Saints Row the Third however, way over the top slapstick action, I love it. It's a very good game, kudos THQ. But the car handling sucks.

And the reason I don't care if Carl Johnson dies or in in SA is because Carl Johnson is just as much a douchebag as the people he is fighting against. don't compare SR 2 or 3 because their part of a different gaming generation. Only compare SR 1 to gta IV because they're the same generation. I love both games anyway.

GTA IV clearly inspired a little SR The Third but with many style diferences. SR3 still is based upon the comedy side of GTA:SA but more over the top, of course!
