Marty Friedman was really a genius. Still is too, it's sad he left Megadeth but, have you heard his solo stuff? I just picked up his "Tokyo Jukebox 2" CD a few days ago while I was in Japan and it's badass.
if played guitar for 1 and ahalf year now and lernd more than half of all songs from you. I remember when i just started and i watched this and it looked so damn hard. Today i watched it again and i can play it. Not flawless but allmost. Your the best :P
The first video I've seen that emphasises NATURAL HARMONICS at the intro...That has cleared up so much confusion for me!! You know how to make good tutorial videos!!! :) CHEERS!! :D
nice job, of course i learned to play holy wars before i saw ur vid on it, would have been alot easier...but this vid definatly made it pretty easy to get the gist of this song...good teaching!
Hmmm, i've been doing the intro harmonics on the 7th fret of the sixth, 5th fret of the 5th, and 5th fret of the forth, same/ notes but I like the sharper tone off the 5th fret
a couple years back, i bought a guitar, epiphone les paul special II. i had always wanted to be good at guitar. but at that moment, i thought that i was never gonna be good. then, a month after i got the guitar, i was like, "huh, i wonder if i could learn a riff on guitar finally. maybe ill try raining blood, just to see if i can do it." so i look up the lesson, and see your video. i saw the tabs, and i knew how to read them right away. i can officially say, that my first song was raining blood.
@thomer97 same thing happened to me...except i was stuck on acoustic guitar for a while... i looked up this song bout a year ago and i learned the harmonics, i couldnt do anything after that... then yesterday bam!!! i got it like nothing... i can now include this song in my arsenal of songs hahahahha
@mateo2711ify every decent metal guitarist knows what a pentatonic scale is, or how to play some fu**ing palm-muting riffs, "mateo2711903547843ify"... : D
dude, u have got so many lessons on Megadeth and all of metal in general, but i want someone to show me the main riff of Rattlehead by Megadeth off their first record... There's no one all over the internet with a lesson on it.... Pls man if u cud post a lesson on this song i will be Grateful a million times
its easy on the 4th string you just alternate pick it and press frets 7, 8 and 5 to the rhythm of the song and end it on a power chord of fret 3 on the 5th string and 5 on the fourth
maybe u are not good in grammar(JK ABOUT THT) but u are awesome at guitarplaying, u have saved my ass quite sum times, and this is not an exception...thanx a lot again lml
alas, cut off by limitation of symbols here in my ultimate - I just wanted to say, again - by all means, mine was merely an observation and not at all to be taken any other way - tabs alone can sometimes exacerbate the situation
very very good; though I have one small criticism about the instruction; simply because - I have found - my own students often struggle with rhythm in more complex chord ideas, and movements; especially with the pick hand - e.g - getting the fluidity and timing down without the aid of rhythmic notation on the top ledger always seems the cause of their growing despondence - I have noticed that even if 'they cannot read music' - the aforementioned rhythm of the music notation often does help
Every one needs to copy the URL and go on the most viewed version of this song and say this is a tabbed lesson so this guy can get more views and there are more experienced guitar players in this world!
I'm a relatively new guitar player, but I've been playing drums for almost 18 years, and piano for almost six. This is an incredibly hard song to tackle, but this is simply my favorite piece of music ever made. I've decided to learn it, long as it may take, and thoroughly be able to play it. This video is a life saver over just learning from straight tabs. Thank you SO much for all your awesome videos! Subscribed and fav'd!
@eargosedown fuck yeah dude!!!! i have literally tought myself how to play guitar by watching this channel, in about three months. i fuckin know you can do it too hahahah
@52alkom Sorry, but you're just talking bullshit. The stuff Marty has written is definitely not beginner stuff and requires an equal level of technique than most of Yngwie's or any other fast player. And yeah, since you think this easy, I'd love to see you playing this song. Guess it sounds, with your incredible expierence of hilarious 2 months, like shit. God damn, comments like this just piss me off!
@52alkom There are lots of people here on youtube like you. Trust me, if you record your playing you will realize that it's not sounding good. Oh and don't think that a good technique means that someone has actual talent. There are 10000s of guitar players in this world that can shred the hell out of guitar, but only a few are acutally recognized for that, because "it's just fucking boring and everyone can write stuff like that" (just some standard quote from many formus).
when you are doing the main rhythm riff, why do you play E like 0-2-2 instead of just palm muting the E string and chug it. when playing at speed i think doing the E full on like that would just become sloppy.
Hey man, could you please put up an instructional video for Good Mourning/Black Friday? I dont know if you listen to requests but i literally will pay you money if you teach us to play that whole song.
"Creepy Mustaine Sound". Hahaha. I think they're called "major third diads". But I do agree that Dave Mustaine uses them to great effect. Especially in The Conjuring.
you are missing a note in the riff after the intro, it's a 5th string note at the air, no fret. (sorry but I don't know the code you use, here we call the 5th string "la")
At 4:49 You say to play the G twice more, and have it tabbed as such. It looks as though you only play it once. When I played it myself I couldn't play it twice and make it sound correct and in time.

Can you please do a lesson on the solo for this song. No one has done a good job of it on youtube . I'm hoping you can. Thanks Bro. Great playing and keep those lessons coming.
