One of my fave song of all time... this version is better than that of Randy Newman

It's fascinating how well this song fits to so different personalities like Randy Newman himself, Bonnie Raitt and Chantal Kreviazuk. Chantal gives a youth- and soulful character to it (she recorded it for Dawson's creek). With Bonnie Raitt and Randy Newman you hear much more the past disappointment of an experienced person, a yerarning that has nearly desiccated.
