its not making up chords as such, he's adding golden notes to chords to make them sound diminished and absolute sexy. he's one of the few guitarists that play the guitar and not let the guitar play them.. he knows wht hes gonna do before he does it.. if you notice his solos are better and different live. there not just a repleca of the albums solos this is because hes a genius!

The cords that Hugh uses are 7ths and 9ths and shit like that.... No not hard cords to play I have wrote at least 3 songs using 7ths and they sound fucking amazing! Haha! But Hugh is fucking amazing.... Ohhh btw the drummer won't be coming back, he has damaged a nerve in his arm and won't be playing with the kooks again. Shame, he a brilliant drummer! :)

@chessman40 you cant really make up chords, but a lot of main stream musicians today use the same like 10 chords and just put them in different order with a different rhythm, but hugh is smart enough to move outside those chords and he uses different ones that sound cool but are kinda harder to use

@FallOfOrderOfficial He is a decent guitarist I'm not saying hes amazing, I said their sound was and he was underrated compared to alot of generic indie bands. The technique used in songs like Naive is pretty advanced and not many indie bands use advanced chords or scales.

@FallOfOrderOfficial Actually Hugh throws in some pretty sweet fills in here and there. He isn't a showy guitar player though, he plays what's right for the song. He's a lot like George Harrison in my opinion, in that he is a minimalist, but what he does contribute is golden. :)
