Gotta love the Z28. Has a little more power than the SS. I drive an 83 Z28 myself. I havent had the chance to race it yet so im not sure what shes capable of doing.
@Quatermain98526 Wrong. They underrated it so it would'nt look like your getting the same power from the camaro as you were from the corvette. An Ls1 is an Ls1. Only thing the SS had was the hood, spoiler, and "upgraded supsension".
@mike510 Actually you're wrong again. In 2001 they revised the LS1 engine for Camaros, Trans Am's, and Corvettes. The LS1 received the LQ4 cam, providing more low end torque, and it also received the LS6 manifold intake from the Z06 Vette's LS6 engine. This is why the HP bumped about 5-10 in 2001. So any LS1 prior to 2001 will be at 345 crank, and 2001 and later will be 350 to the crank. Also, the SS has forced air induction, adding a couple of more ponies over the Z28 model.
@Quatermain98526 Wait how am I wrong again? I only said one thing lol. But yea I forgot about the intake and what not, so your talking a few hp, big deal. All I was saying was the camaros were under rated for the "big and bad" corvette.
There is none. SS has wider rear tires. If you get the full SLP list of mods you could have gotten for the SS it may have larger sway bars. If you're looking to buy one just get a Z28 and save the cash. Unless you're a collector that is.
Look it up, you see the hood scoop, my friend has one, and U can Bet ur damn bippy it has one.... Funny how Im an import guy and know more than U.... :)
an air dam doesn't mean ram air..ram air is a brand (not even a good one)that NO CAMARO has came off the line with..so import guy how much do u really kno..stick to the hondas kiddo..
@hondacivicfanboy It's not enough, because of its stiffer suspension and bigger wheels the SS camaro weighs more than the Z28, therefore they're basically equal stock for stock, and give the Z28 the LID the SS has and it will take down the SS.
Rice Boy is actually Right for once, Yea "Ram Air" is a company but also is defined as any intake design which uses the dynamic air pressure created by vehicle motion, I learned This in My GM ASEP class in college when we had to service a 2000 Camaro SS.....
Auto's are gay? If I remember right you got beat by an a green auto T/A at the track???? Sorry Andy I had to take you down from that cloud you were on ;-)
@AndrewGlenn Launching the LS1 is tough in M6 or A4 form, tougher in M6 of course. But that LS1 has so much torque you'll just sit and spin if you push the pedal down all the way, it takes some technique.
The auto was already beating the 6 speed at the top of 1st so how is it driver error? lol
mike510 5 months ago
This is clearly a case of driver error.

@xxTeenAngstxx no, same power (at least for the LS1 years).
Evan12345678 1 year ago
@xxTeenAngstxx Wrong. The '98-'00 Camaro Z28 had 305HP vs 320HP for the SS. the '01-'02 Z28 had 310HP vs 325HP for the SS.

not much... ss just come with the hood, a better exhaust, suspension, and the trunk is different. but pretty much performance wise nothing.
i have a 01 z28 with exhaust and lid and ive beaten ss with the same mods as me. or they had headers also. every camaro is different

If U ever look under a camaro SS hood you will see 2 air tunnels directing air to the air box..... This creates about 15 hp more than a Z28...
