  • I don't mind people wearing pajamas anywhere because it does not affect me. I would never wear pajamas out in public because it looks ghetto. I like to look professional at all times. It is not hard to wake up and put on nice clothes. That is Laziness and I HATE people who are lazy.

  • i personally never wore pajamas to class but fuuuuuuuuuck this, i paid 50 grand a year for school. when you pay me by ALL means tell me what to wear, until then sit down and shut up.

  • this happens all the time. Personally I wouldnt do it because i think it looks nasty but if someone wants to do it in college then its their choice.

  • I personally never wore pajamas to class, but this is ridiculous. Public university does not equal public high school. A dress code? Seriously?

  • How about adult onesie pajamas (funzee.com)

  • Sounds like North Carolina...

  • What is the dress code for clown college?

  • wtf is wrong with pajama bottoms?

  • I wear pajama bottoms all the time and I have the highest grades in some of my classes. I don't think it hurts you in school. If it was at work, and they were paying you, then they should not wear inappropriate clothing.

  • I don't think pajama bottoms are unacceptable. As long as they are not smelly, or stained with anything, I think rolling out of bed with the bottoms you put on last night and changing your shirt (shirts usually stick up fast) before going to class is fine o.o

  • i sort of agree with this, WHY THE FUCK U WEAR PAJAMAS.....what's mentally wrong with u.....but then again, i'll say let them wear what they want, but i question the retarded fashion of the americans......pajamas...really......>_>........just come in ur birth suit!

  • ana how'd did you do your hair like that?

  • screw this. the only reason why i went to college was to see girls wearing tops that showed off the goods. could'nt get that in highschool. I paid for these boring classes so I deserve to see some hot chicks wearing nothing sitting next to me.

  • did no one see wanker drama in the subs?

    1:09 haha

  • what about nude activists who come to UC Berkeley naked?

  • If they want to show to class wearing trashy lingerie, it should be allowed at the university.

  • pajamas! are epic!

  • My last science book cost me $250. I'm gonna wear whatever the fuck i want to my damn classes.

  • And to the person, who said why do we care what you wear, .......We have to look at YOU thats why.....dont people get anything, why dont you just walk around holding a sign that says CHEAP above your head.

  • OMG.... I saw someone standing outside my apartment window, talking on the phone, i went to shut my curtains and took a better look at who or what it was because they were standing there looking in my livingroom....OMG....call the fashon police pleasssse!! A blk lady wearing skin tight , cartoon character pajama pants...with a bright red bra hanging OUT of a really skinny spaghetti strap tank, that was pulled up half way onto her abdomen. sooo cheap who wears pjs during the day. Seriously lol

  • @SuzieQSue why did you have to mention she was black? we get the point without you talking about her race

  • @goofygobber101 I was just being descriptive. I did not say anything racial and do not feel that was wrong.

  • although it's kinda fun, it's also unsanitary.

  • Why do people care so much about how others dress? I get why you wouldn't wear pjs to a job interview (or a public job), but this is college, for fuck's sake.

  • its free country cum on.....

  • Sometimes I will wear pajama bottoms but only when it is the only thing I have that is clean in my dresser and have yet to do laundry. So what is the difference between pajama bottoms with a tie around the waist and a pair of slacks with a button... except some of the patterned ones can look silly. Jeans can be uncomfortable to have to sit in classes with for hours.

  • I think professionals should wear pajamas to the office each day.

  • the chicks at my high-school wear PJ's all the time (teachers arent to happy about it) but i dont see wats wrong with it as long as you come to class and do your work without causing any trouble, isnt that why you go to school? and it pisses me off that they spend more time bitching and whineing about dress codes instead of putting that effert into keeping the schools safe. worrying everyday about the kids who bring knives to school bothers me more then somone wearing baggy pants.

  • I'm sorry but in high school, workplaces and social engagements people judging how you put yourself together is vital to ones progress: why should it be any different at uni?

  • @JermzzzyFTW its their choice to wear whatever they want why should you care?

  • @imgordonfreeman You could say the same thing about the workplace- I want to show up to this corporate interview in pyjamas, why should it affect my credentials and why you hire me? Sadly the world doesn't work that way- there are certain ways you have to act and look to get taken seriously.

  • @JermzzzyFTW i agree, however what i meant was that it's their choice to do whatever they please, they will also have to face the consequence of their actions. it's their choice, i dont care. you shouldn't either but if you insist, please by all means, its a free country after all.

  • @imgordonfreeman The consequence being that you cannot enter the university because you are dressed inappropriately. I DON'T care, I'm just thinking the uni admins would.

  • @ammarios Check out FAFSA homeboy. As long as you get a 2.0 GPA, you get the money for school plus extra. and if you get below that for 3 semesters, they just dont give it to you anymore. you never pay it back. so yes. people DO go to school for money.

  • Here in Canada, NO ONE , and I mean NO ONE gives a shit about what you're wearing to class. There are ALWAYS MANY people who wear PJ's to class (ESPECIALLY those who live in school residence)... no one treats them differently or gives them weird looks.. no one cares. Your education is about your work, not what you're wearing. My uni is connected with underground tunnels so esp. in winter, ppl pull all nighters then run to class in PJs..and it's not just at my uni..GET OVER IT! WHO CARES?!

  • Why in the Hell would anyone wear sleep wear outside ?

  • Such a sexy nerd like if you agree

  • That's dumb I dont see y it would matter if its not hurtin grades n I mean in college majority of kids pay wit their own money so they should b allowed 2 wear Wutever they want

  • I wore pajamas to class all the time, I did pretty well too

  • @funincluded FUCK DISGUSTTING DUMAZZ KISS MY AZZ

  • So if I understand some of the comments here, just because I've worn sweatpants to class, my 3.5 GPA as a computer science/chemistry major means nothing?

  • @hockeyfan7125 Exactly. You should be ashamed of yourself. Who cares about things like intellect and hard work when you wore SWEATPANTS to CLASS?

  • no cleavage dress code is bullshit

  • i wore my pajamas to school twice.. awww it was such a bad week. going to bed around 2 everyday (because of homework, thank you). one morning, i was trying to figure out how to pour some mouthwash on my toothbrush. yeah, i usually wear nicer clothes, but shouldnt we at least be comfortable on these days?

  • As a college student at NCCU I can agree with the chancellor as far as the pajamas, Yes a more presentable attire should be presented, because students would hate to see their teachers wearing sponge bob squarepants.....But yes as an adult students should be allowed to wear what they want as long as it is appropriate.

  • Pajama's in public, right along with rollers and doo rags, Just some Ni&&a shit that Ni&&a's and Wigga"s do

  • That's why UNC is the best of the triad!

p.s. I disagree with you guys calling this pajama-bottom phase clownish. It says I'm comfortable, or I had to rush to school to day. Which honestly, is both when I wear mine to class.

  • It's is because of these childish behavior that the rest of the world think all american are retards.Well done Chancellor!!!!

  • If you wear pajamas in public, you are voluntarily identifying yourself as an idiot and someone who probably should not have been admitted to your university. By all means let people wear whatever they want, but also let them accept the consequences of their actions (like expulsion) because college students are, after all, so adult.

  • I don't get the fad with pajamas! At least no one does it in Europe. But in the US I always see young girls walking around in pajama bottoms and sometimes even fuzzy slippers. WTF?

  • I'm against this but does no one feel weird wearing your pjs outside? I dunno about the rest of you'll but I always somehow feel naked in my pjs lol

  • its cool, but it's not something I'd do, and that whole thing about having a public college have a dress code is bullshit!!! fuck that!

  • Comment removed

  • I think college is all about freedom. This saddens me

  • I loved pajama day in high school (part of spirit week)

  • Punks huh Cenk? I mean yea the girl coming to class wearing Hello Kitty PJs is soooo trying to be gangster and what not

  • But..... WHY!? :S

Why would you wear it ?? .. ?

  • I think the chancellor needs to leave it alone. However, I understand that the chancellor is only looking out for the kids and the university's image. If that is the case, then maybe he should impose that only pajamas with the university's logo is allowed in class?

  • That chancellor needs to get laid...FAST

  • @2484Stryker BIG TIME

  • my college was full of these douchebags. Grow up ur not funny

  • wtf is a public university? just say community college geesh

  • @osoblanco91 public university and community college are 2 diff things!!

  • @js21392 o i didnt know that lol learn sumthin new everyday

  • @osoblanco91 North Carolina Central University is not community college sir.

  • @DCisMINE my mistake i was misinformed on the whole public university community college topic sue me

  • @osoblanco91 Public means state funded 4-year university e.g. University of Florida as opposed to community college which is usually 2 years.

  • @NakedTanPanda o i c didnt know that lol

  • ive seen girls wearing pjs and they looked hot as hell

  • if youre paying thousands of dollars to learn in a classroom for 4+ years of your life, wear whatever the hell you want, as long as youre not looking like a slut i dont care

  • transfer

  • i thought black people wore rainbow jeans now days...

  • That's silly. PJ's make learning comfortable

  • I agree. I saw quite a few kids do this in the college that I went to and it was predominantly white. I agree, that wearing comfortable clothes is fine but PJ's is taking it too far.

  • whether a school is public or private students should be allowed to wear whatever they want. sheesh

  • okay wtf i have extermes from pj's to business attaire to everything in between

  • I went an ivy league school and I'm black. The dress code during winter months - basically the whole year - was sweat pants + northpole jacket for girls(+ uggs boots) and for guys (+ some kind of sneakers). Sweat pants = pajamas in my book. So it really doesn't matter if it's in a public or private university, mostly AA or not. It's an epidemic!

  • this is stupid why do people even care what the students at a college wear

  • i think students at high level universities should be required to wear spongebob and scooby-doo pajamas and that students in second tier universtities should be required to wear business attire. i think college is more cliquishe and juvenile than high school

  • Isn't it bad enough that we have to pay ridiculous amounts of money for tuition and books? Let people wear what they want, that's why it's college and not high school.

  • If higher education prepares you for getting a job in the real world, well then you need to practice getting your ass out of bed and getting dressed also, just like in the real world.

  • A dress code in a university is completely outrageous. Academia (at least in the sciences) is arguably the ONLY setting in which nothing about you matters other than the quality of your study.

  • @Sylvanna42

Part of the university's responsibility is to prepare these kids for the work place where they will indeed face a dress code so I understand why wouldn't want students showing up to class in what they slept in the night before.

  • @hollaboutit fuck you bitch nigger go suck a dick you piece of monkey shit

  • @Sylvanna42 Amen!

  • I work at at 4 year university and I see the whole spectrum. From chicks that looks like high class hookers, guys that look like thet slept in a dumpster... Then there are people that dress well and look comfortable.

  • @Voodooray007 No. I didn't say that everyone that is getting financial aid is just in school for the money, but some people are, and those are usually the people sitting in the back of the class sleeping.

  • @snarerator um excuse me??? People who are in school and receiving financial aid are only in it for the money?!! What money?? The money that I get from OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) is student LOAN money ... it is money that I not only have to pay back after graduation, but WITH INTEREST. I DO get some grants for my grades, but the loans are a horrible debt-load. NO ONE goes to school "for the money" ESPECIALLY not financial aid students. There IS no "money". Only a debt-sentence.

  • Nah, we should all follow coach Carter.

  • I went to University in the early 90's and people wore PJ bottoms to class then. It's not a new thing.

  • how old is ana?

  • @juliomexico13 I've heard that she was born in '86, so I guess she's 24 or 25. I thought she'd be older than that though. What a babe!

  • @juliomexico13 I think 22 or 23

    why??

  • I teach at a public university. Last year a student came in in a bathing suit. When I say bathing suit I mean a wicked weasle-style thing. She had hot pants tho, so she was only showing off half of her buttocks.

I would've preffered that she didn't come like that (it was a bit disrruptive) but universities don't and shouldn't have dress codes. I did not kicked her out. No professor would. This dress code thing is BS.

BTW WTF was that :WOW: brrrr thing Cenk did at 1:52?

  • the only bad thing about pajama bottoms is that your winky tends the hang out :)

  • Seriously when you complain about baggy pants you should die very slow and with a lot of pain.

  • Wearing SpongeBob pajamas is not disturbing? What on Earth have we come to in our society?

  • if it's a public university then...

  • I agree with Grandpa Cenk on this one!! I've even seen grown women in the supermarket wearing super tight pajama bottoms, and when they bend over, the butt crack is visible for all to see. In the bedroom I'm down with it. Around the house, I can dig it.. BUT NOT IN PUBLIC PLACES MAN!!!

  • you know whats okay to wear at colleges, for girls, hot girls... nothing... naked.. :-) ... no seriously tight sluty cloths, no pajamas... I can't admire the art of the female body that way... hehe

  • At Berkeley, a guy used to go to class naked.

  • I dont care, i take classes at night but even if i did see them in the morning, still. But expect to be treated differently from everybody.

  • freedom of speech = freedom of expression. What you wear is an expression of your self. I think of all places, a college should be where you would be allowed to wear what you want as long as it isn't something a police officer could cite you for.

  • for thousands of dollars in tuition, hundreds in books, and another hundred for parking each semester I ought be allowed to wear what ever I feel like.

  • @fauyd, YES! That's the American way! Education is a commodity to buy and I, the educated, having paid for it, need not behave like I have an education. I have bought the right to dress just like I never leave my living room, because, hey, why should I put myself out for anyone? I'm rich enough to go to college, after all! Besides, getting dressed is too much damn work, you know? Professors should respect me even if I can't be bothered to put on real clothes because dammit, I PAID for college.

  • @EyeLean5280 oh and just because you have been in school people should respect you by wearing clothes you find respectful. LOL I pay the teachers salary, I do my things, he should do his, and that is not bitching about my clothing. If you feel disrespect because I wear baggy jeans you should go to saudi arabia. Fuck you, i decide how I look, not you, not the teacher or anybody.

  • Never seen/heard the pyjama trend in my life. =o ...but am from the UK.

  • im in ucsc, and me, and all my friends couldn't give 2 fucks.

  • I see it all the time at my college.

  • It's not a public University if you pay money to go there Ana.

Why would a person pay to be told what to wear? Higher Education my ass.

Creativity is very important to learning, in fact it is essential, even Einstein said "Imagination is more important than knowledge" If all they teach is knowledge then you can learn everything on the Internet. It contains the sum of human knowledge

    :P

  • @Joxman2k, having gone to one of the top art schools in the nation, and having spent time earning a living as an artist on three continents, I think I'm qualified to comment on the subject of creativity.

It takes ZERO creativity to fail to get dressed in the morning, my friend. And even putting forth the effort to assemble a funky, bohemian outfit doesn't buy you much imagination cred in the real world.

Advice: put on some clothes and work to develop actual skills and talent.

  • @EyeLean5280

    What?

You are a creative person, but disagree with what I said?

    Where am I nude?

If you saw me nude, you would know my talent.

    ZING!!! :)

    :P

  • @Joxman2k - OH! You are right!!! No creative person could ever POSSIBLY disagree with anything YOU, ultimate creative genius of our generation, has ever said!!!

PS You're talented at being nude?

  • @EyeLean5280

(imagine the following with the voice of Dick Solomon from 3rd Rock from the Sun) :)

Well I'm glad we finally agree on something ...I'M A GENIUS!! :)

PS And I am quite talented at being nude. If fact under my clothes I'm nude right now!

    :P

  • @Joxman2k, well, having spent plenty of time on the model's stand, I can deeply appreciate the talent it takes to be interesting in the nude. Under your clothes, I'm sure you really are a genius.

I'm afraid, on the other hand, I've never seen "3rd rock from the sun," so the pop culture reference is wasted on me.

  • @EyeLean5280

Darn it. Dick Solomon is a character played by John Lithgow. He's An alien who masquerading as a human and working as a physics professor. He is also a pompous ass and self absorbed ... something like my comments were. Here's a clip if you are interested.

    watch?v=hG2Kf391Jqs&NR=1

  • @EyeLean5280

Actually here is a better clip :)

    watch?v=Ba5Xjh5qoLM

    :P

  • @Joxman2k, thanks, I'll watch it!

  • @EyeLean5280 he's not ur friend buddy (south park joke)

  • @Joxman2k there are no free universities. Just because it says public it doesn't mean it is free you retard. Clearly you should take a education, internet didn't thought you wel.

  • @philateliceun

I didn't think that Universities were public. Ana said they were.

  • This is nothing new, it's been in and out of fashion for decades. Believe the trend started when students in the '70s emulated Hawkeye from the MASH movie and television show. This being a black school there's probably a real problem with saggy-baggy pants, inappropriate bedroom attire being passed off as pajamas, and the like. see also, George Will's column this week.

  • As for pajamas, I saw it very often at my university and thought it was slobbish, unclassy and nasty. I would not penalize students, but have some standards.

  • @geologyfan12, if I were a professor, I might include pajamas when considering a student's class participation. It certainly wouldn't bear enough weight to ruin anyone's GPA, and I would be up front about it from the beginning, but it should reflect in the final grade.

College is about preparing people for the professional world. A world in which it is decidedly unacceptable to show utter contempt for one's coworkers by showing up in pajamas.

  • @EyeLean5280 College isn't about preparing people for the professional world, it's about learning. Besides, it shouldn't be unacceptable to wear what you want as long as you aren't a waiter or in another people job. You're insane in my opinion to be getting worked up over how other people dress, it's so shallow. I recall many a wise man and philosopher dressing in loose robes. Funny that you think just because someone doesn't care about how you percieve them they are showing you contempt.

  • @e105b5, you know what, you are right.

And in fact, after thinking it over for about a week, I decided I'm full of shit in the first place because I teach in an inner city high school where I never bother to enforce dress codes. I allow my kids to keep on their hats and hoodies, if they need them to feel secure enough to raise their hand and ask a question.

While I might still debate your last point, I retract my original one.

  • @EyeLean5280 I have a lot of respect for your admission, even if this was a trivial subject.

  • @e105b5, that's very kind of you, but really, such admissions come fairly easily to me. I'd feel pretty stupid sticking to my guns once doubt has started creeping in, as it often does.

We can't take ourselves too seriously here on YT. We all post a lot of knee-jerk reactions that don't represent the sum total of our thoughts on any given subject.

    Peace.

  • I like pancakes. I demand that syrup be on all pancakes since syrup was on the previous meal's of pancakes of which I ate. Sir.

  • People have been doing this for years.

  • Respond to this video... I like pancakes. I demand that syrup be on all pancakes since syrup was on the previous meal's of pancakes of which I ate. Sir.

  • lol people would get jumped for wearing pajama bottoms in my town and end up eating through a straw for rest of their lives

  • They may be too strict. However you should dress professionally when you attend class. You are future professionals act like it.

  • It's funny that no matter how liberal a person is they still find some way to be racist! I just want to point out the fact mobsters typically wear suits and are well groomed yet no one see's dressing "smart" in a negative light?

  • "punks like this" Right because people dress a certain way they're the blight of society even if they attend college(Trying to better ones self is clearly an diabolical front used to sell crack to White children). /sarcasm -_-

  • while i would of course agree that the students have the right to dress how they want, i cannot stand people who wear pajamas to class just because they're too damn lazy to put on real clothes. why would you want to walk around looking like a classless lazy idiot? i wear nice clothes every day because i actually care what people think of me and i want to look my best.

  • @supercomputer12 Exactly their point. They don't give 2 shits what you think. I don't give 2 shits what they look like so I don't care either.

  • @CodyAllenmusic right i understand they don't care, but people should WANT to try to look decent. plus the university may have an image to maintain. i doubt harvard would put up with it.

  • the dirty losers at my university used to wear pajamas to class

  • I never wore pajama bottoms, but I saw plenty of people in college wearing those.

  • ya dont do it at an office job so ya cant do it at school

  • Grandpa Cenk!

  • If they want to where pajamas, then where pajamas!

  • If i'm paying more than 3 grand a semester at a university, I think i can wear whatever the hell I want.

  • @BigMike2521 I think if you're paying more then 3 grand a semester, you would be smart enough to know you can't wear whatever you want. Thongs? No shirt at all? Yeah...I guess you and your 3 grand a semester brain didn't think about it that way, huh? I don't have a problem with pj's, but people that wear them look pretty lame. But hey, if you want to look like a homeless bum, more power to you.

  • i understand why some classes might require a dress code.. like chemistry.. but if it's a lecture at 8am. and i have to walk across campus after drinking all night.. then no...

  • @FranklyMsShankley Jesus. Get some! :P

  • Lower 100 level 200 level classes, who fuckin cares... Upper 300, 400 level classes, shmaybe?

  • @okonomiyaki51 Thumbs up for shmaybe

  • I think people should wear whatever they want. If they don't care then why should we?

  • @sassaycassay We live in a society. Wear what you want, but I can make fun of you as much as I desire.

  • Ok, so I wore pj's to high school a lot. I agree that as an adult, you should be able to wear whatever you want, but I also believe that you should view College like a career. Dress at least semi-professional, and show that you have respect for yourself. You're there to learn, despite what some people think. Wait until you're home, or at your dorm to dress down.

  • @DXSXDXSXD i was in the mood to rant and my thought was, to simplify, why do they wear them?

    Because they dont care.

I hate this excuse that its early morning classes thats the reason, because if they cant wake up enough to put on day clothes, why should i expect that they will be awake enough to pay attention in class at the level needed.

Maybe you dont agree, but your question just felt like the right place to rant.

  • did it say anything about GUYS wearing miniskirts? : D

  • @ZKoftherebellion Haha, one could argue that the rule is discriminatory! :P

  • @ZKoftherebellion yea but who the hell would lol

  • @jgladsee Don't knock it till you've tried it.

  • I kind of agree with the university... I mean, try getting a nice campus photo for brochures while everyone's in pajamas! How do you sell degrees with THAT on the front of your web site?

  • Anna=Cool

  • woohoo a story about North Carolina. Hey i go to Campbell University in Harnet County, NC.

i've worn my pajamas to class many times, and nobody really gives a damn

  • There's a thin line between pajama pants and elasticated pants or some track bottoms- It doesn't matter if it looks ugly; you can't police fashion.

  • Its really their problem as far as I'm concerned. If someone wants to dress like a fool going to college, let them! They'll see the end result.

  • Who cares? It's just clothes for fuck's sake. -.-
