The economy is the EXACT reason for the bailout. It's the banks' fault, the government's fault, and the borrowers faults. Guess what, we can't change any of that, but without bailing out these lending institutions, our economy will slide even further south. Sure there are some details that are unnecessary, but if you think you are going to eliminate all those, you're naive.
