  • I just bought a Canon VR-HF720, this commercial was recorded on a Canon VR-HF800 back in January 1989 (during the MLK Holiday) The Commercial debuted in September 1988 (maybe late August) the first time I saw this commercial was 9-88 on Nick At Nite (after the alien sketch it went straight to the Anglo Saxon fort scene) I probally will be able to recover this vid! instead of the snow break, just maybe from the same master tape!

  • @willdav713 Tried it and failed. I didn't record the first part of the

commercial. But I know somewhere the full tape of this commercial exists.

  • These books referenced in an Episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000

  • It's the *tone* of the commercial that creeps me out the most.

  • Oh this was great! Thanks for posting!

    A++++++++

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All the best in 2009 and beyond! Puerto Rican Love from New York City!

  • Strike my last comment. I was remembering the shorter commercial for the same Time Life books. This was the original and longer version of the two commercials. But I do remember the mom and daughter having some kind of "connection" in this commercial.

  • the first commercial was the mystic places on youtube. this is the second the shorter version does not have a mans heart's stops beating in the hospital he sees a blinding light.... followed by the wierd looking lady in the scarf. basically it started with the mother and daughter, the alien sketch art, and then the 5 men enter an anglo saxon fort sight of fierce battle and then the bloody looking hands . Nick at Nite would only play the short version in 1988. that is the only difference.

  • I'm sorry. I don't have a clip but I must have seen that commercial about a million times when I watched cartoons after school. It started with - Explain this: A girl burns her hand and x miles away her mother feels a pain in her hand (notice the pan in the scene where they hug). There was another scenario but I can't remember it. Something to do with telepathy. I wish I did have a clip of this though. Its vintage gold.

  • LhopitalsBack, do you have the original clip? Also there was another 1 minute commercial that was on here, I do not know what happened to it.

  • The beginning part of the commercial was clipped. In it the little girl hurt herself and the mom felt it also. Thats what the significance of the little girl and mom in this commercial.

Personally I prefer the Time Life books commercials about Ghosts and Stuff. But this commercial was nice also.

  • That girl hugging her mom and her mom saying I know is spooky

  • Hah! I remember this commercial vividly! Back when I was a kid, I used to believe in that stuff, not anymore :)

  • I mean Lifetime Medical Television, back in the 80s when Lifetime first started it on Sundays it was Lifetime Medical Television or LMT. See the Wikipedia article on Lifetime. Lifetime wasn't 100 percent geared at the female demographics until the early 90s, as Court Tv when they first started it was Courtroom televison all the time before the reality programming. Because of the Purtians (conservative bible huggers) they wanted courtrooms closed to the media making Courttv weak.

  • gallbladder I mean

  • Lifetime Medical Network, Gastric Bypass Surgery It almost taped over the program which was recorded off of cable when Trapper John was on the local channels.

  • Lifetime Medical Network? I've never heard of that one before.

  • What program was cut off on the tape before this ad came on?
