  • He reaffirms my faith that good things happen to good people

  • @happy7117 That is a question I ask myself. I never really liked opera before. i could take it in small doses but now with people like Paul and Natasha Marsh, especially when they sing together it is spine tingling. They are fantastic together, just look at Brindisi.

  • lolz

  • Paul if you ever read this and want to visit Disneyworld, you've got a place to stay. Wonderfully humble...do stay that way. The poverty was the lesson...now take your crown, but remain humble!

  • Love you always Paul:) You bring us all hope:)

  • paul potts your a legend

  • this guy knows real life ..he deserves everything

  • bore off!

  • Why would you sing Oprah exclusively? She already has her own magazine and gets enough attention as it is! Be original Potts and sing your own stuff!!!

  • @LIGHT2U4U uhhh what?

  • I'm tempted to buy it, but I don't have the money... I assure you, if I did, I would... Love your work

  • I was on a opera show once, but sad enough fell asleep. Its good music though and i like the way Paul Potts is singing.

  • I grew up with reggae and soul music in the 80's. i love opera but its cost lots to see live. also, there are very few places that have performances. i listen to classic FM in the kitchen and i use my imagination. It was great stumbling across Mr pau.l

  • It is way harder to sing opera than reaggae and even soul. This is why they charge you more.

And frankly opera is much more capturing than reaggae.

  • Why do people hate opera and they all of a sudden enioy it because paul sings it??

Obviously, Paul rocks the house, but it's still opera. And people usualy hate that type of music.

Does Paul make opera fun to listen to when other opera singers don't make opera fun to listen to??

  • It's because people are sheep and follow what is cool at the time. He was popular on the show and did opera, so everyone started listening to it at that time

  • yeah that kind of people annoy me

  • It's only a Cinderella syndrome. "One of us has made it". Not true.

One should read Paul's bio to find out how many years of hard work (not selling mobiles) and at what cost took him to be able to sing like this and finally "make it".

  • BarbaShime

    Your facts are wrong.

Paul went to Italy few months to tour amatuer singing, have singing lessons and learn the language.

There Paul was chosen to sing out of his group for Pavarotti.

Opera singers tread the boards for many yrs, usually in opera academies, Paul did not.

I think Pavarotti was many long yrs training to get to his peak.

Paul sang amatuer lead roles in operas.

    about the time he married.

Up to BGT Paul had not sang for 4 yrs due to alot of misfortune, debt.

  • @meeragrantham

Sory, but I faild to see what's wrong with "my facts".

As I said already: he didn't win by the fairy's magic wand. It took him God given talent, a lifetime of learning, hard work and some hard cash to achieve this level of excellence. This makes his success even more just and rightfuly deserved.

  • Paul did not have a lifetime of learning or hard work, or hard earned cash in opera.

Paul did not take up opera until later, and only amatuer.

He won £8000 in singin contest which he spent on going to Italy few months touring, having singing lessons, learning launguage.

Paul married shorty afterand had alot of problems so he just gave up singing .

Opera singers learn usually for 7yrs.

  • the character of a person is what matters most. not the size. not the race. not the gender. not their sexual preference. and not their religion. paul potts has an extraordinary talent. May God Bless You Paul

  • His album One Chance sold over 3 and a half million albums, rocketed to the number one spot in 15 countries (including the UK, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and Mexico) and stormed to the top 10 in a further eight. In the UK, his album outsold the entire top 10 collectively in its first week. January 2008 saw him embark on a world tour with 55 dates but as his popularity soared more dates were added and he completed over 100 sell out shows in concert halls, arenas and stadiums around the globe.

  • A really sucky comment, according to your profile you're 42, perhaps you should grow up!

  • Why am I not surprised your american? Americans are officially the thickest and fattest and most retarded people ever

  • I'm American... and have 7% body fat.

  • I'm American and I like Opera and Reggae. Trying to compare the two is pointless - like apples and oranges, night and day. However, speaking in generalities that lump people into stereotypes makes you sound like an unintelligent jerk. I'm sure you're not. I'm going to assume the best: you just had a momentary lapse in what is otherwise stellar behavior. Have a nice day!

  • boats n hoes

  • Well, Pavarotti was a big fat guy too. He died at 71 from pancreatic cancer, but he was still legendary, nontheless.

  • have you ever seen an opera? almost all male singers are fatter than he is

  • Comment removed

  • you are great!!!

  • Good that he's not milking it to be honest. Mosdesty is greatly underated

  • good man paul, keep yr feet on the ground and yay for CYMRU!!!

  • If he is a joke..... than what you are ?

  • He wasn't rich at the time of this video.

  • u a devil, Hater...

  • I didn't mean Paul! He is great

  • i really like how paul is down to earth... even though 100% was going to be a star from the off.. he still dont get ahead of himself.. thats why he will always be a star

  • totally agree..

  • humbleness is definitely one of his greatest virtue...and the reason why everyone loved him on top of his incredible voice.

  • humility***

    fixed

  • @GreatFeelGoodMusic Well said

  • im really happy for him, it just goes to show that an average guy who works an average job can make it, hes a fine man i wish him all the best

  • This interview was taped over a year ago. He is already a millionaire and travels all around the world performing. I'm pretty sure he can rely on his appearances and CDs.

  • What he needs to do is try out for opera productions and really train for some more longevity towards his career. I hope his marketing is not the extent of William Hung. He needs to broaden his skills towards opera. He cant rely on appearances and his CD's.

  • Paul Potts and Susan Boyle are the two most inspirational people I have every been privileged to see. Live your dream Paul.

  • what a wonderful singer ...Yes of course i cried !!!!

  • "Don't quit your day job" is like saying "what did you do with the money your mother gave you or singing lessons"

Basically this guy SHOULD QUIT his day job, because the money for his singing lessons paid off.

I have a shit job, every frigging day I say 'I hope I don't have to go back'

  • get a new one! do what you love, you only live once, and stop saying I can't, because I can't really means I don't want to.

  • I think the only time we should quit our day job is if we had enough of it or if we have found a better job that exploits are true talents.

A job that we truly enjoy because it uses our talents is something I don't think we should quit.

But if we are stuck in a crap job, we may not be able to quit it because it may be the only way we can make money.

  • the Phone co. he workes for should hire him for an add

  • yeah i agree

  • I hear this expression used all the time on Youtube mostly for American Idol bad singers, but what does:

Don't quit your day job mean??

I hear it all the time hearing some crappy hilarious audition.

Anyway, stick to your rocking singing!! This guy is too good for a car phone gig!

  • "Don't quit your day job" means you are not good enough to be a singer or whatever. It means don't run out and quit your job (day job)....before you have made it big because you are not that good and you won't have any money to pay your bills. Paul Potts is obviously good enough to quit his day job, and I think that is the irony. He can quit...and hasn't...where other people on Idol will think they are great singers...quit their job...and get laughed off stage. Does that help?

  • Thank you so much!!

  • I really wish that my brothers and sisters under Jesus would quit using everything as an excuse to force Christianity on everyone. It's been tried for generations without much success.

Mr. Potts has definite gift, and we should be mature enough to appreciate it without all these sidebar comments regarding religion.

  • good luck men!:)

  • If he does go back to the car phone company, he'll be doing commercials for them.

  • yeah, i hope so!

  • Ha, good point. They should have him at the counter in his uniform answering the phone from a customer, but singing: "Hellooooooooo! Carrrr Phooooone Waaaaareehoooooouuse!" With the customer on the other end of the line looking at the phone like it's a prank call - lol

  • Un verdadero talento y lleno de humildad, se ve que ama lo que hace

  • How do you know that you exist? You'll be dust in 100 years and who'll remember you? In a 1000 years will there be any proof of you left? And yet there is beauty such as this on this meaningless earth, what a contrast. Wonder why that is. I'd think that theory of yours over a bit before you jump to conclusions.

  • Logic in your reply = 0%

    Acquire intelligence, then reply.

  • I exist because I believe that the ability for me to feel everything around me is the proof of my existence. In 100 years, I will be in the hearts of my future family members and my oldest friends. In 1000 years, I won't be here to care. There is beauty because beauty is balanced with the ugliness that suffocates it. I'd think about actually thinking before giving an argument that God exists, because that had nothing to do with his existence. Your comment was so stupid, I couldn't resist :]

  • I sorry to read your comment. I don't know how can you give those attributes to something which you think doesn't exist. I know my God exist an he loves you so mmuch that he Gave his only begotten son Jesus so that you would not perish, but would have everlasting life. just stop for a moment and meditate on this. If you don't agree with what I said, that is also ok, i guess one day you'll realize that what you are reading today is true.

  • OMG you are an ignorant one.

  • Well, since you are so enlightened that you can make judgments about who is ignorant, why don't you try and make a positive difference in the world rather than belittling someone on an internet post with pointless ad hominem just to make yourself feel superior? Why does it matter so much to you if someone believes in God? If you are so sure they are wrong, be a leader; be their guru; give something of value, not insults. But I bet you can't resist and will turn your hate on me as well.

  • I love how he didn't quit his job just in case...so many of these reality show contestents quit their jobs thinking they're the next big thing and it goes no where...Paul had some real talent but still kept his job in case, good on him!!!!

  • Normally i would agree but with a voice like that i think he does not have to worry of getting nowhere....

But it shure tells alot of what kind of men he is.

    got to love him...

  • Yes..when he fuck u...

  • asshole!

  • Atleast you can tel why, this way it makes you look like a big idiot

  • hurry up and do an msc!!!

  • unbelievable man!!! i haven't seen such a humble person who's got such an incredible talent in a long time..or never actually... Success Paul!!! You really deserve it!!!

  • The path hes going, Paul will be able to buy out the phone company !

  • Brilliant men! i give all my respect!!!!

  • All that talent and humility too! Great guy!

  • You will be big soon! You are an incredible artist!! I hope that many people learn from your experience!! Believe in yourself!! You are an inspiration!!

  • he has sold two million copys! 12.99x2,000,000 =25980000 come on thats alot of money

  • Unfortunately they say that artists only make a small percentage on record sales...they make their real money on concert tickets.

  • It is but remember some of that goes to the stores who sell it then back again to the record company who make the CD's so he dont get it all.

  • no but even if he gets only 1 or 2 euros and its probably more per copy thats still alot of money :)

  • he'll only make about £1 per copy

  • sooo £2 million, urgh, thats alot of money.

  • he is like all of the other amazing oprah people, and I think better because hes cool unlike the other oprah people who just seem to be squares

  • Oprah or opera?

  • hahaha

  • LOL. The most sincere and direct sales pitch I've ever heard. God bless you Paul. I think the CarPhone Warehouse is out of a salesman.

  • where can we buy your CDs ?

  • No way he'll need to go back to that warehouse.

  • sometimes it is not about money, he forgot a finger to give back to his Boss, Just jokin :)

  • You took the words right out of my mouth!

  • After years of searching, it's all over folks....we've found "the missing link".

Take a bow, The DiscoLarry. Proof positive that there's life at the bottom of the gene pool.

  • Go to a doctor and check ur ear and also ur mouth, looks like is too big.

  • go get a woman or a man and leave that cat alone pervert, si distorting ur music sense, tweet.

  • paul, god bless u...in the USA and love your voice, quit that job, you're singing for the rest of your life my friend

  • He can sell me a blank disk, after that I want him to do well in life :).

  • But then I would prefer it not to be blank, just saying that I think he is a good person.

  • he won't go back people like him don't sell phones for a living. life has a funny way of putting you where you belong. This man belongs in a theater enriching peoples lives with his god given gift. I hope to hear from him in years to come. the best to you Paul.

  • omg, he's so humble

  • Freewill98, I agree with you so much.

  • I like these kind of people, even when they find their in this persion, they act the same, they don't see them selfs better than anyone else, they do not even go on about all the great stuff they are doing. They do it because they love it and enjoy the work.

  • eine wahre Freude, Phantastisch, alles Gute Paul Potts, noroc si sanatate!

  • besides come to tour in Miami and I'll get your tickets.(or near south florida)

  • What the hell are you talking about going back to phone werehouse ? wow , if this is the state of opera in now days world were art is not appreciated and some teen with huge boobs becomes rich out of her looks and a catchy song then this civilization is going the wrong way.

Have patience , read pavarotti's story , he had to sing for 6 years to get paid to sing , but you already have the exposure don't waste it!

Listening to you gave me an appreciation to opera , don't give up.

  • 7SinfulPleasures......lol, brilliant!!

  • lol i swear im gonna buy 50 cds

  • "I haven't quit my day job yet... car phone warehouse"

translation - they pay me a lot more money to mention their name in interviews.

either way, Paul potts is a stud

  • Well I just bought the CD so thats one more :). Normally I'm not an opera fan, but I just love his voice. I now have a new appreciation for opera that I never had before, and it's all because of him, so thats pretty amazing. Good for you Paul, good for you!

  • Come on paul are you kidding I would bet all my chips that your done with cell phone sales lolololol

  • oh paul. i hope you never have to go back to the phone house!!! you kick ass! glad you made it to BGT. your talent is too precious to be kept secret.

  • There's a girl who most people on Youtube know.... her name is Esme. Although you both sing different styles of song, I believe you have something in common. That you have been given a gift that will ultimately lead you to greatness. You're a cool guy and I wish you all that you deserve.

  • cool, that guy does REALY likes his life,

he does what he wants he leaves what he hates

    great guy

  • Real honest Talent is so nice to witness. No one blowing smoke or pointing at a family member saying look at my Niece or Son or whatever to poison your perspective. What a true and delightful talent Paul has and he shares it with such humility and grace. That is quite a talent as well given what he has to offer.

I am proud to be Human and point to him when the Remulons say no one on Earth is worth a darned, I point to Paul and say, SEE! There is one.

Kidding aside I really enjoy his Talent.

  • i totally agree.

  • Dear Paul Pott,

As one of Judges said to you, now you are a diamond which is going to have its last polishes to be a perfect diamond and as time pass your human value and fame as a opera singer and a true humble gentleman will spread all over the world, I believe you have opened a new area in Opera singing for todays world youths.

I have watched you over youtube over hundred times and most of the time with happy and overwelming tears in my eyes.

    God Bless You

    I love you

  • lol cos hes gona read this! :D no offense, i agree with u 100% :D

  • samwas123 - if there were vids all over youtube about me, I would read all the comments lol. But yeah, PP is probably too humble and uninterested in fame to do something like that. I think he just wants to sing and have his voice touch others.

  • paul's goin from a pay as you go to a contract he has earnt enough to retire on now

  • surley, 2 million albums beats the carphone warehouse salary

  • that is hilarious man.

    he is amazing,great singer.

  • i just got his Cd its awesome

  • god bless u paul .. u just brought tears to my eye when i listened to ur voice.. just amazing thats all i can say .. keep it up and i really wish u the best of luck in life

  • the only way paul should go bk to old job is as a customer ...too damned gd to go bk now

  • I think this dude needs to retire from the phone industry, so everyone try to support him, if you can.

  • I can't imagine this young man spending the rest of his life at Mobile Phone Warehouse.

  • That's why we have to support him and buy his CD .. he doesn't deserve to go back!

  • I accidentally hit the thumbs down, meant to hit the thumbs up. He should never go back to selling phones. He is now fulfilling his destiny.

  • Paul sings pop opera. There is a difference in that and the arias of La Boheme or La Traviata. He is wonderful at what he does. A magnificent talent though he has pitch problems, especially on the higher notes which he strains to get.

  • John Traviata doesn't sing, he's an actor. Geez, even I knew that.

  • Yeah? Well your just the lump of fat goo in the pan.

  • 'flarbin', god love ya x u absolute ledge

  • sorry about last comment, wasnt actually me who posted it x

  • i never used to like opera but ever since i heard you sing i had goosebumps how good it was and actually began to download random opera songs which i have no idea about haha good stuff

  • Paul, you are an inspiration for every musican, you have a wonderfall voice keep rocking pall

  • Paul Stand tall you are the best. I have seen your video about a month ago and have told many people that they had to see it. All that have, have had the same reaction. Tears of confusion. Even I have a special way I told my wife and the same reaction. We then cried again together. More to the story but I wouldn't want to get off the congratulations. I cant wait to see you in the U.S.A. Ohio area. We will be there and bring as many as we can afford. KEEP IT UP!!! Your fan

  • Paul I've just watched the video of your audition for the first time and have cried and cried watching it over and over again. My Dad late .loved opera, I just wish he could have seen your video

  • Paul-

Congratulations!! You are the ultimate example of a good person who acheives the success we feel deserving people never get and now we know it happens! Incrediably talented. I hope you always stay humble and look for you to tour in America-come to Northwest Florida!!Best wishes to you and your family!!

  • Paul...amazing!..I dont think you will be going back to selling phones..I bought the cd yesterday and it left me speachless!!!

  • This just shows how much dignity Paul Potts has. He has made it big and yet he is still thinks he could be selling phones in 6 months time. Lol. Good Luck to him he has a most amasing voice and an amasing charactor. Like so many I hated opera untill I heard this guy now I'm going to see him in concert!!!

  • To ppiearson: For Paul's lyrics all you have to do is type in keywords "Paul Potts lyrics" and you'll get lots of websites with his lyrics in both the languages he is singing, and in English.

  • Thank you erl49 for the info.

  • I think you never need to go back Paul Potts, too many people are inspired by your sound, your CD must be very salable!

  • Wonderful voice, magical, uplifting, Wish you all the best Paul. xx

  • Thank you Paul, for sharing your incredible talent with us. I have never really listened to opera but with your voice I asked for the CD for Christmas and I got it--to my joy. I have started listening to it at night before I go to bed to relax me. I just wish there was a way to get the words to your songs so we could understand it better--although your voice tells it all. Gods blessings to you and your lovely wife!

  • I don't think he is going to have to worry about money!!

  • Not to detract from the many fine singers... It is nice to have someone fill a sort of void after Caruso, Lanza, Pavarotti.
