That's life, man. Spain was beaten by USA in Sydney, quarter finals, after winning all its matches, while USA didn't even pass semifinals against Argentina. Final was Argentina vs Italy, and Spain had beaten both of them in the first phase...

Bad luck. But I don't think France was playing very well... I prefer Greece, Serbia and Turkey
