  • I was running Crysis 2 on ultra setting, (everything maxed out) and the max I got was about 51 that was 30 mins of gameplay, I have a stock intel cpu cooler and a i7 860 not over clocked... Is that normal or what?

  • Can you put on a second 120mm fan?

  • @iNekoNaru I never tried because there is no where to install the fan on other side. But i guess with determination anything is possible lol

  • You put your game CD's on your wall? o.O

  • 320bus speed? i lulz'd but yeah il be getting this for my next build with dual kaze ultra fans in a haf 912

  • Q9550 @3.8ghz stabile con intel burn test al max 65 °C.

  • well my ram i ddr2 so when i have it at such a high overclock i have to have my ratio lower to even keep my ram at stock so its got naturally a low latency. i have my memory at 800mhz and cas latency of 5 so it seems to be working well

  • hey i have the same heat sink in my computer and i dont know if i made a mistake but i have my heat sink facing down towards my gpu's at a 90 degree angle from my case exaust fan too just like yours. in my raven 02 case. is this bad? if i turn it so the fan will face my exaust fan. will i see an improvement?i am at the moment able to overclock my q9450 the first version not the newer better stepping model. to 3.5ghz. which every one says is as far as i should be able to get it.what should i do?

  • @julabask Hello and to the point, you are making a mistake having your hsf facing down. Always either have fan blowing back to exaust or to top mounted fan. Reason why is because hot air raises and it does quick, so you want to get that hot air out effectively. Also, in regards to your overclock, I had the 9550@3.8 stable with same cooler. It all depends on your cooling solution. Tip, get a different 120mm fan with high RPM (2000 rpm or more) for your heatsink, and you will see better results.

  • @yaxpak1 yeah i changed it where i turned my fan around to blow through the heat sink facing towards my exaust since my exhaust in my raven case is also my top mounted fan since its the 90 degree case thats turned over so all all air is blowing from bottom to top yet the mother board is mounted sideways in it.

  • @yaxpak1 works great but my fan was 100% in the wrong direction after that i lost 4 degrees in my cpu on load oc at 3.5 ghz and 8 degrees on my gpu load since my cpu fan is now not blowing its heat directly at the back of my gpu. overall its a big improvement now i can run my cpu and gpu at max load and overclocked and have my cpu the q9450 oc at 3.5ghz running at 48c or less it stablizes there an never goes over.

  • @yaxpak1 and my gpu 470 evga superclock+ now stays stably on the toughest games like metro 2033 under 70c with everything maxed out and runs it avg a fps of 50 at 1920x1200 msaa x4 af x16. i expect in a week when the thermal paste breaks in again maybe another degree or two drop.

  • @yaxpak1 so i am really happy now. i agree having a faster fan would help dramatically since its insanely quiet and fact is after mounting it all right a 4 degree difference is insanely small shows the design of the heatsink obviously does most of the work and the fan they gave me with the hdt s1823 barely effects it. so if i invested in may two new fans that are better one blowing throught he heat sink and one sucking towards my exhaust might take off another 3 degrees or less.

  • @yaxpak1 and would be cool though i doubt now matter how much cooler it gets i think i have turned on all the transistors my cpu has left and doubt i can get it to stably unlock any more. online i have not seen anyone be able to oc a q9450 any further then 3.5 ghz it seems to be the limit every one witht he luckiest 9450's max out at. it seems people have been able to push the q9550 at best from 4.0 to 4.1 but the q9450 multiplier is lower so only 3.5.

  • @julabask your motherboard has got to have good power management in order to spit out good overclocking results. 8+2 or 12+2 pwm is recommended here. I got my Q9550 to 4ghz stable with a Asus P5K-E p35 chipset (Asus is the best :)) But I have concluded the the ram you use plays a crusial role in overclocking. If you want optimal results, you have to have a high mhz ram, such as 1066 for ddr2 and 1600mzh+ for 1156 or 1366 sockets. If your overclock is not stable, drop the memory speed to lowest.

  • @yaxpak1 and yes i have 80 amps on my 12 volt rail single rail. its the op 1000 made by silverstone. so i have a lot of power. and i use the evga 750i ftw motherboard. i like evga the best because the bios does not use any of that auto overclocking feature crap and its the only company that puts decent heatsink over the north bridge which you really need to overvoltage to get a decent overclock. at the time i got the fastes ddr2 ram out there at the time i bought it 2 years ago 800mhz

  • @yaxpak1 thanks for you help. the raven i a great case and turning it was a great improvement mostly for my gpu now that its cooler i overclocked much further. its stock was i think was around 700 i got it to 800 before now i got it to 863. and memory 2073 huge performance boost.

  • @julabask I''m gald I was able to help. I'm with you when it comes to overclocking. I just ordered an i3 540 with new mobo and I will be overclocking also. I will post my results in form of a video. One important thing to keep in mind, not sure if you know, but your ram needs to be downclocked when overclocking around 3.6+ so if your ram is 1066, drop it to 800mhz, and you will get better results overclocking cpu along with loadline calibration on or vdroop on.don't forget vtt also.

  • Im going to have to install it with the fan blowing up as well. AM2 gigabyte board here. Is this okay? And is that an antec 900? Will i have to sacrifice my sidefan?

  • @slipknotjake Hello, and yes it is ok to install it blowing up. In fact, it is best blowing up, since hot air naturally rises. Yes, it is an Antec 900 and it does give me better results with fan blowing up. Unfortunately you will indeed loose your side fan due to Xigmatek hsf size, but side fans actually do very little, so you wont miss out on anything there. Hope I was able to help 

  • @yaxpak1 Ahh, thanks for the reply mate. Sucks I'll have to take off the side-intake. I guess it's okay since I only have it set to low 100% of the time. Very good.

  • @slipknotjake Yyou wont miss a thing, trust me. I tried both with it on and w/o it and temps remained the same. In fact, I would rather not have a side fan anyways because the noise level even lower.

  • @yaxpak1 Oh yeah, and will my ram be okay? This is my motherboard - Gigabyte m61p-s3

  • @slipknotjake Ram should be ok, the s1283 clears mine just fine. Just as long as you don't have the huge heatsinks on your ram, you will be all good.

  • @yaxpak1 K thanks mate, going to buy one soon!

  • is it hard to install

  • @kronKrew not at all.

  • @yaxpak1 thanks im getting one
