PS Channel 5 logo. I first saw this film one Xmas Eve night on CH5, must be about ten yrs ago now. I was 20 at the time, drudging through the civil service, ugh, shaped my life I tell you
My favourite of the trilogy. I think we all have felt like Mick Travis in this at some stage of our lives. A true everyman and a film that still has something to say. And yes, a life affirming ending, so wonderful to see the cast step out of their roles and be themselves almost.
I love this film - one of my all-time favourites. McDowell is a true one-off. 'if....' is tremendous too - I've yet to see Britannia Hospital though...
Thank you, *thank you* for posting this, been searching for this finale to post. I have it on dvd but I wanted to share something inspiring and heart warming with my friends.
Do I have to hit you over the head with the script before you wake up! So Wake up!

If you have a friend on whom you think you can rely, you are a lucky man :)
If you found a reason to live on and not to die, you are a lucky man :D
Preachers, and poets, and scholars don't know it ;-)
Temples, and statues, and steeples won't show it :-(
If you've got a secret - just try not to blow it -- stay a Lucky Man! :]

One of the single best movies I have ever seen - and this has to be one of the best final scenes (and soundtracks) of any movie, anywhere, any when.
