I found it so interesting when I saw in a documentary the woman who plays the keyboards in New Order(what's her name?) saying that once she'd been in a Joy Division concert and she was afraid of Ian.
It's going to be hard trying to be original seeing this incredible band! I wish I could dance like Ian and play like Bernard Sumner. Oh well, I need to just try and find my own style while making sure to cite them as an influence.
@movoning The signs were there........alas his band mates were too young to help. Ian Curtis, a man it is very possible to miss intently, without having actually met him.
Looking at the gig list for Joy Division (in Deborah Curtis, Touching from a Distance), the band played in Altrincham three times, twice at Bowden Vale Youth Club (March and May 1979--that's got to be a pretty cool youth club), and once in late 1978 (at the Check Inn).
This is the best footage of Joy Division I've seen. Really gives you a feel of what it would be like to see them live ina small club. Where did this come from?
make Joy Division #1 in the UK for 18-05-10, it will have been 30 years since Ian passed, push Love will tear us Apart to the top, there is a facebookgroup
Priceless rock history. This is superb. And I'm sure it'd look and sound even better with a bit of digital clean-up. (Hiss reduction, contrast adjustment, colour grading to restore natural tones...sorry, it's the restoration geek in me) This is true of all JD bootleg live footage. Where did you find this?!! Thanx for posting.
This was it in '79. I wandered from town to town listening to the Cure, Buzzcocks, The Damned, Purple Hearts, Magazine...... and oh yeah oh yeah... this was the bible for me. She's Lost Control.
my god, this is a real work of art... shadowplay is a great song, genius lyrics, ian was the rimbaud of music.

@nmcorp this is actually pretty good quality

@nmcorp
All or some of this gig was filmed by Malcolm Whitehead,
songs 02-04 were used in the "Joy Division" 8mm film,
produced by none other than M. Whitehead, and premiered
on 13 September 1979. This is according to Mark Johnson's book
"An Ideal For Living", page 42.
