  • my god, this is a real work of art... shadowplay is a great song, genius lyrics, ian was the rimbaud of music.

    Joy Division!

  • a pub in Maltrincham?

  • This video clip is awesome never seen it before. Thanks so much for uploading, really appreciate it.

Joy Division the greatest ever, followed by Echo & the Bunnymen.

  • I found it so interesting when I saw in a documentary the woman who plays the keyboards in New Order(what's her name?) saying that once she'd been in a Joy Division concert and she was afraid of Ian.

  • i wish i had a camera like this one

  • lucky bastards in the audience. damn i wasn't even born.

  • Ian.... How I Wish You Were Here...

  • wish i was there too

  • How does he dance like that? Almost like a robot

  • I can´t understand why people comes to videos about music they don´t like , and think... jmmm, I don´t like it... .-. It´s just stupid

  • His voice is so scary and dark on Leaders of men

  • ...sweet!

  • Not a pub really. Or Maitrincham?? lol. Oops typo lol.

14th March 1979: Bowdon Vale Youth Club, Altrincham

Double U Double U Double U DOT joydiv DOT org/c140379 Photos from this gig!!!

  • It's going to be hard trying to be original seeing this incredible band! I wish I could dance like Ian and play like Bernard Sumner. Oh well, I need to just try and find my own style while making sure to cite them as an influence.

  • 07:50

  • Who is the genius that disliked?

  • who is the idiot that disliked?

  • @nmcorp cuz it was 1978/79.......HD & digital etc. wasn't around then!!!

  • DAMN IT FUKING GREAT

  • what a stage presence ian curtis has ...... fantastic band

  • wow

  • Ian really didn't have to kill himself...he really didn't. I can bet all his fans loved him for his music and for who he is.

  • @movoning The signs were there........alas his band mates were too young to help. Ian Curtis, a man it is very possible to miss intently, without having actually met him.

  • Who's the dumbass that disliked this?

  • @swanky23

someone expecting this to be a documentary about actual joy divisions (nazi brothels)

  • Looking at the gig list for Joy Division (in Deborah Curtis, Touching from a Distance), the band played in Altrincham three times, twice at Bowden Vale Youth Club (March and May 1979--that's got to be a pretty cool youth club), and once in late 1978 (at the Check Inn).

  • @nmcorp this is actually pretty good quality

  • @nmcorp

All or some of this gig was filmed by Malcolm Whitehead,

songs 02-04 were used in the "Joy Division" 8mm film,

produced by none other than M. Whitehead, and premiered

on 13 September 1979. This is according to Mark Johnson's book

"An Ideal For Living", page 42.

  • @nmcorp it's called the evolution of the singularity, you are watching the history of technology unfold, enjoy.

  • The best band!

  • Awesome sign me up for that time machine

  • Legends

  • I love he how dances to shadowplay

  • How could he dance in that way and not result ridiculous at all? I couldn't.

  • @nmcorp Its probably because they were filmed in the 70's and they used bad quality recording equipment

  • Ian era un fottuto artista!

  • me encanta su baileeee :P super original

    aguante iaann!!!

  • Altrincham - pronounced "ALL-tring-em."

  • i built a time machine ho wants travel back in time pm me

  • This is proof of how good Ian's voice was

  • anyone know the date of this gig?

  • Priceless rock history. This is superb. And I'm sure it'd look and sound even better with a bit of digital clean-up. (Hiss reduction, contrast adjustment, colour grading to restore natural tones...sorry, it's the restoration geek in me) This is true of all JD bootleg live footage. Where did you find this?!! Thanx for posting.

  • it always cheers me up to see Ian Curtis dancing!!

  • Comment removed

    Simple as that.
