You can get Growlithe in the patch of grass just right to the city of Celadon but not in Saffron city. But be prepared.. It took me 15 minutes before I found my Growlithe (now lvl 79 arcanine) tho

so you can get them in pokemon mansion,route 7, and route8.

yeah that hard once you get national dex you need to catch the pokemon in johto and kanto!

so far i have 74 on my national dex. a good way to get 1 pokemon is to go on four island and get 2 raichus to lay and egg and hatch it to get a pichu. that good cuz u cant catch a pichu only get from the eggs.

I'd get Growlithe to level 49 before evolving it anyway because it that way it learns all its decent moves. Once you evolve it into Arcanine it won't learn anything apart from Extremespeed.
