I have to agree that some of the comments are ignorant.

First off, I doubt that a film like this would be made without public funding in most parts of the world. I'm sure most of you will agree this is not for the crowds.

The non professional actors was the choice of the director, he knew what he wanted and there arent many actors skilled enough to perform this kind of role faithfully and without going over the top. As said, the acting and overall style is in the line of De Oliveira.

couldn't agree with you more. just saw the film at a festival, liked it, but it was not until the next day when i realized just how brilliant and deep it really was. this is a film that stays with you for a long time after watching it.

Product of an undeveloped project...

Only possible in a small country where film production relies on state subsidies...

Besides that it is not at all original, and every single actor, including the drag queens, is terrible!

I have not seen this movie but know thepeople on this movie and i have to say the acting his just abismal,god help us if they no longe can use proper actors and resort to drag artists without any acting training.Sorry if some people will take offence to my comments but i have known the person this movie is based on and this is not a good tribute.

you're right...the main star is really a cabaret performer in some gay bars in lisbon... so i think that's why he was chosen...either way they are not really actors and that just diminishes the movie and the story
