Although I'm not right up in the north of England, I'm in the midlands so that's not the far south, so yeah, I fucking hate the southern window licking cunts!
It's those sorts of things that can make English dialects a bit hard to understand at time. :)
I'm from Denmark, so it's not like I hear dialects like that on a daily basis. lol Sometimes I have to go back and listen to it again when watching English videos here on Youtube. :p
And besides, where have all the most famous riots taken place? Even in recent years? That's right the south, so you can fuck the stereotypical ''ohh you know you're all snobs and think northerners are pricks''. To be fair I think a lot of Northerners that have this attitude are fucked off that the rest of the UK hates them as much as they the South. You're not getting any brownie points by bumsucking the Scots, the Welsh or the Irish.
Here in the south, I like it. I like the north, too. I don't hold anything against you all that live there. Why should I? I think we all should not care where we are from or where we are , and just unite. It would be easier for us all without everyone going apeshit about what part you're from!
soooo i watch Geordie Shore and I dont understand half of the things they say, but im entertained! and im learning...lol, I cant figure out though, why "us, them, we" in place of "me,her/him,I" ???
The north slang is.. older in a way than what you have in the south so we forget how much we change sentences. People from newcastle use lyk a lot us is just a general term for yourself. 'em/'um /dem is just how some people speak. Loads of people use shit like av and reet too. And eh, do you have eh?
@Manovmilk well im from the US so I actually dont use any of those terms but i find it FASCINATING! lol. I want to visit England just to pick up the accent. And I think I do say eh sometimes if you mean it the same as I do.
@KedViper I think Dokie66 is from Hull or somewhere in Yorkshire so I guess that makes sense I know he hangs out at a lot festivals in Leeds and surrounding areas.

@QueenofMcFly1 Of course, it's the same anywhere really. Californians have a different accent to people from Boston, and people from Texas have a noticeably different accent to everyone else, right? It works the same way that you can distinguish accent within your own country. So can we.
UK accents differ mostly on words, and especially slang. Regional dialects have so many different names for things that it can be hard to keep up.
why the fuck do us northerns always get shit, oooo is grim up north, i hate northerns there so common and backward, well fuck you all you posh, snobby, fox hunting southern bastards. :L
@CockneyBurberry the snail paced broad slang he is speaking in makes ppl think that is the standard accent of all northerners. dont know where he is from, sounds like south yorks, but it just sounds comedic.
@CockneyBurberry Right on CockneyBurberry, NORTHERN ENGLAND FTW!!!! South are snobs arent they apart from eaaaast ennderr landan, birmingham and the south west.
@meowool your from the South but you speak with an American accent LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Then again you are only 14 and like you said in your comment you have never been to the U.S. So which American accent do you believe you speak? I`m not taking the piss it just sounded funny reading your comment but a lot of U.S slang is used in this day and age Ive noticed my American buddies have started to use some British/English slang, cunt, wanker that kind of stuff.
@TrilogyofC no idea, but from when i have recorded my voice for english tests, and listened to it, it sounds canadian-ish, but thats my opinion. also i love when americans try to do an 'english accent' cos they end up sounding like the queen
@meowool Why on earth would you have an american accent if you're from the south of England? Unless you're putting it on, god knows why anyone would WANT that accent.
@meowool Well, theres no other explanation other than you want to sound like that. I'm half English, never lived in the UK and grew up around a lot more Americans when it came to speaking english, yet I speak with a broad Yorkshire accent because that's how I was raised to speak, I'd be a wannabe if I was to sound at all american in any way. If you were born and raised in England there is no reason that you should sound american, apart from that you're a wannabe american.
@yasashii89 i never realised it was partly sounding american, until we were talking about accents and we were saying you don't realise that do have a n accent, seeing a s your voice seems perfectly normal to you
@NickBee193 to be honest not all Southerners are snobby I have a few friends who are from the South. Its just funny stereotypes and a bit of English banter but by the looks of kinda getting out of hand with the comments on here.
@CockneyBurberry Don't worry, no matter how bad the people of Southern England may be, they're no where near as bad as the Southerners in the United States! XD
he kinda reminds me of jim sturgess... Its funny that some people are saying mean things because he talks like the guy in the video in Across the Universe... gah people are so LAME sometimes... I think your accent is cool :)
@QueenofMcFly1 I'll show you through comedy! Us regular people like to make fun of posh people.
Middle class = posh. Often born into money, kids sent to private school, etc: ww w. youtube .c om /watch?v= YUNssEtAwr8
Upper class = ridiculously posh. The peerage, gentry, and hereditary landowners. (Earls, Dukes, Barons, etc) There's not many of them, but they seem to be what the American stereotype of Brits is bases on: w ww. youtube .co m/ watch?v= e5uvTr3SMoI&feature=related
@Tarn1968 It's a bit like North v South in the USA. The Northerners are our redknecks ;P
The UK is actually pretty damn tribal. Jason Manford sums it up perfectly. Manchester dislikes Liverpool. But they're both Northern, so they're united in that they dislike the south. The north and the south unite as England to dislike Scotland. Scotland and England unite as Britain to dislike France/US/Germany... Who all unite as the West to dislike the East. Actually... Humanity as a whole is tribal.
@TrilogyofC I agree with that fully, Its weird how the Scots are separate country and yet they are more like us than the southerners. I think we should become a separate country in the North, the South always leave us to rot when the going gets hard.
@TrilogyofC Actually, I retract that statement. I'd rather not be from the same country as you. So whatever divisions you'd like to put up between us are fine by me.
@QueenofMcFly1 The links between accent and social class have eroded a fair bit since the barriers between the classes have come down, but it's still there! I'd say that our accents are formed more from our roots now than from our actual standing in society. Someone who speaks 'the Queen's English' is definately posh, although they may have adopted it to hide their roots. The uploader has a pretty strong regional accent, so it's safe to assume that he has working class roots like myself.
@QueenofMcFly1 type in "jamie carragher butchers the english language" for a liverpool accent. its hilarious i only understand half of what hes saying and im english!
@QueenofMcFly1 yes they can, coz the accents change pretty much in a matter of like 20 miles. every area has a different accent & it's really recognisable.
Lol people slagging off the northern accent are so pretencious.....sorry to destroy your idealistic dream view but not all people from england speak like hugh grant....i'm not even northern...i'm from south england and still think you're all bellends :)
@FearlessRLC96 yea thats true even though were I live in the North the heavy snow fall and bad weather wasn`t as bad were I am compared to the rest of the UK... suppose it just depends on location.
Overall its not like this country has great weather anyway even if you are in the South.
I have no idea what my accent is. I live in Nottinghamshire which is technically in the Midlands, however I have been told by Northerners that it is in the south and I've been told by Southerners it is in the north! I go to a state school and people always say I am posh and imitate my pronunciation of words like last, past (larrrst, parrrst.)
Making it even stranger is that my parents are Northerners and I was born and lived in continental Europe!
@Tarn1968 The stereotype in England is that people from the North of England are common/unrefined but friendly, and that people from the south are posher but less friendly. Both are generally true to an extent. In a regards to class this is probably because the economy and wages in the south are much higher. Also, people from the North really are more likely to strike up a conversation with a stranger.
I never even think about class I just judge the person themselves whatever background they are from. Unfortunately the rest of this country does not have that attitude.
@TheSchemer1 hehe...I'm liking how you're writing eeeeaassst eeenddeerrr! I was born, brought up and still live in the East End, but I don't have the accent, as a child I never liked to use slang and wanted to pronounce everything right. Not all Northern accents are bad, do you know who Guy Martin is? I'm in love with his accent, I could listen to him all day.
@stupidintellect90 My parents (mum in particular) are trynna bring up me up with a "neutral accent". But when I speak neutrally i get the piss took out me at witherslack for speaking correctly. I wanna develop a good lanchasire accent when im older....
@TheSchemer1 There's no 'proper' way of talking, if we didn't have these variations, then we'd be bloody bored...just speak however you want to speak. But, seriously check Guy Martin out on youtube, he's a motercyclist and looks a lot like Wolverine, there's loads of clips of him talking, he talks a lot btw
Dude, you are so cute, but American girls would chase you down the street for that gorgeous accent alone. Just sayin'.

@QueenofMcFly1 yes they can, coz the accents change pretty much in a matter of like 20 miles. every area has a different accent & it's really recognisable.

I'm from Newcastle and have friends from Leeds at uni and you really do have more of a Yorkshire accent than a Cumbrian one :P

The North of England is amazing. It shits all over the South.
We gave the world The Beatles and Terry's Chocolate Orange.

@bluemoonrising26 South England has better weather!
FearlessRLC96 8 months ago
@FearlessRLC96 yea thats true even though were I live in the North the heavy snow fall and bad weather wasn`t as bad were I am compared to the rest of the UK... suppose it just depends on location.
Overall its not like this country has great weather anyway even if you are in the South.
TrilogyofC 8 months ago
@TrilogyofC true, we do still get more rain than we do sun here in the south :L
FearlessRLC96 8 months ago
@FearlessRLC96
Well given that I genuinely prefer the cold, the wind and the rain, I don't think it does.

PreppyEnglishman 10 months ago
@PreppyEnglishman sounds like you got he best of both worlds then!
TrilogyofC 8 months ago
@Tarn1968 The stereotype in England is that people from the North of England are common/unrefined but friendly, and that people from the south are posher but less friendly. Both are generally true to an extent. In a regards to class this is probably because the economy and wages in the south are much higher. Also, people from the North really are more likely to strike up a conversation with a stranger.
PreppyEnglishman 10 months ago
@PreppyEnglishman Great comment you got it right.
I never even think about class I just judge the person themselves whatever background they are from. Unfortunately the rest of this country does not have that attitude.

TheSchemer1 9 months ago
@TheSchemer1 Thanks! What's wrong with the southern accent?
stupidintellect90 9 months ago
@stupidintellect90 Well apart from the west southern accent and the eeeeestteeenndeers laandan accent, you all speak dead posh.
TheSchemer1 9 months ago
@TheSchemer1 I can't argue with that, it is a bit boring if I do say myself :)
stupidintellect90 9 months ago
@stupidintellect90 Particularly the ofxord and cambridge accents, but I like the eeeaaaast eenndeer lANDan accent though..
TheSchemer1 9 months ago
@TheSchemer1 hehe...I'm liking how you're writing eeeeaassst eeenddeerrr! I was born, brought up and still live in the East End, but I don't have the accent, as a child I never liked to use slang and wanted to pronounce everything right. Not all Northern accents are bad, do you know who Guy Martin is? I'm in love with his accent, I could listen to him all day.

@stupidintellect90 Dont ave a clue who he is, but i may have heard the name somewhere duuun the lyne...

@stupidintellect90 My parents (mum in particular) are trynna bring up me up with a "neutral accent". But when I speak neutrally i get the piss took out me at witherslack for speaking correctly. I wanna develop a good lanchasire accent when im older....
TheSchemer1 9 months ago
@TheSchemer1 There's no 'proper' way of talking, if we didn't have these variations, then we'd be bloody bored...just speak however you want to speak. But, seriously check Guy Martin out on youtube, he's a motercyclist and looks a lot like Wolverine, there's loads of clips of him talking, he talks a lot btw
