@Jackthat1 i have experimented with springs quite a bit. i decided automatic extraction is cool but then its a pain to reset especially if you have it under a jacket. automatic retraction does not really work on a blade this long, I also experimented with making it double action, but the multi-tier design makes too much friction, and to get it to launch hard enough it is too strong for me to activate with my wrist.
So for now just a simple "gravity" operation is fine.
@NinjaClyde Not necessarily. Try researching an out to front knife. It's a type a switch blade that doesn't need to be reset and has a mechanism that can be adapted to a multi-stage knife such as the assassins blade from assassins creed.
@kabutoofsound i have learned more about them than you know, in fact i bought one just to more efficiently analyzed them. the concept is that it launches the blade just the amount that you can charge the spring with the thumb switch. with this i would need to launch the blade and not the second tier and the blade is too light to be able to pull the second tier out, and then you encounter the issue of balancing blade weight spring strength and the actual force you can generate.
@NinjaClyde That would be true if you were trying to fire the blade. If you focus instead on firing the tier which contains a blade that flings into a locked position it works. As for finding a strong enough spring you can pic one up a lowes. Please send me a PM and I'll email you my personal schematic.

have you tried adding a spring to your design? it would really help with that sluggish, gravity powered look when it comes out, or you wouldn't have to raise your arm up to make it go in.

@NinjaClyde yea it was pretty pricy, but it is sort of bulky, about the hieght and width of your "blade" and its alittle smaller in length and the blade isnt very sharp, (which isnt a big deal to me cuase i dont plan on killing anybody with it) but it is sharp enough to penetrate a human being

If you wanted to make it more bearable, and more practical, the blade should only extend one hand above your hand dully extended. it would make it smaller and easier to manage and still have the functions needed of a hidden blade. Not that you'd use it to shank someones internal organs or slip into someones ribs, but still. Yours looks about three and half hands long or so, making it heavier too =/
@MortalGun95 it was made more for being on top of my arm as a arm sword, but i twisted it 'round to show how te design can be implimented for a hidden blade. and how with this design it pushes the fabric of the sleeve out of the way.
on the last video of it in action, maybe practice sliding it out while your running just before the attack sort of thing? i mean someone could easily see you get that out and think "ok i should run now" instead of "WTF that guy running towards me for?" on the last video of it in action, maybe practice sliding it out while your running just before the attack sort of thing? i mean someone could easily see you get that out and think "ok i should run now" instead of "WTF that guy running towards me for?" "Ah crap he has blade" *gets hit* alot more stealthy :P

this is the best design ive seen yet...im trying to make another hidden blade myself. I could really use a detailed description of your locking mechanism (how u made it). BTW that short clip at the end was hilarious

Comes out too slow to actually pierce skin though. Im not a technical genius like you though, but i would suggest a spring if that would work
