Interesting. 20 (or 30, or 60...) push-ups are the part of the exam, too. Are push-ups part of the Wado-ryu? Or they're just stealed from an other sport?
OK, I understand if you're saying this is not part of wado. But this is the only thing that is different from the basical requirements. We don't do Ballett exercises, nor high-jump:)

How can this be classed as a fraud?? if you consider that ALL karate has inherited techniques and katas from other styles, Ive been training in Wado-Ryu for 27 years, saying point blank that Kobudo is not in wado is ridiculous im afraid,all styles evolve and delve into other styles, as did i as a teenager and studied the kama and Bo, the bo coming from Aikido, but we also have Aikido in Wado, i think the point should be that the kata shown was NOT sokon kata.

Of course, integrating this kata into the requirements of the 3rd kyu is the subjectivity of our trainer and we are very pleased for doing that. If we'll have a chance in the future for that we can learn similar katas from the Sensei then we will live with that chance.

The sensei teached the members of the wado camp for this kata (Sakai Kazuo is one of the students of Otsuka Hironori; and he is World Champion of Kobudo). Probably the sokono isn't part of the technical requirements of wado-ryu, but this doesn't mean that the members shouldn't accept a nunchaku kata from a 9th dan master.

I've only seen nunchaku in wado-ryu. There are no any other weapons in it, if I'm not wrong. Moreover, I've only seen the nunchaku in the Sokono kata - we don't exercise too much with that.
Didnt look terrible atall. This may seem a stupid question to you but ive just started wado-ryu karate and am wondering what weapons are involved with it? At the moment i only know the Bokken, Tonto (spelling, the knife) and Nunchaku (learnt that from this video!) are there anymore? Thanks

Hopp, akkor ha hazaérek, felteszem a Godan-t is! Nekem az tetszik a legjobban (persze csak az ugrás miatt).
A lényeg annyi, hogy most megmagyarázom ennek a banánnak, hogy márpedig van nunchaku a wado-ryu-ban... Amúgy kösz;)

It wasn't me who 'created' this kata - my trainer teached us, and told us that this was Sokono.
By the way, we follow the Otsuka line.
I would really give you the email address of my trainer, but unfortunately he doesn't speak english very well :(

I've only seen nunchaku in wado-ryu. There are no any other weapons in it, if I'm not wrong. Moreover, I've only seen the nunchaku in the Sokono kata - we don't exercise too much with that.
Maybe I'm underskilled... :)

We have defenses against katana,tanto,but that's it no weapons like Okinawa Kobudo...
