  • That's some REAL shit right Hurr!! Let 'em know!! ;D

  • You did a very good job with this video. I'm sure it took a bit of time to get all those jpegs along with editing them all in sequence of the music. Kudo's to your effort.

  • Why didn't he make a Southern remix? There's plenty of old school lyrical Southerners that aren't in the spotlight anymore. People often forger that.

  • @MA3POLO we from ny

  • @epic88 Yeah, but he made a Westcoast mix.

  • @MA3POLO i know, but i'm biggin up the east coast version cuz i'm from the east lol

  • 4.14. OMGOMG

  • Man, this was great! Loved seeing these cats. Nas took it back to when hiphop was in the crib, suckin' on the bottle. It was cool of him to have these MC's that were around in the earlier years of hiphop. Most nowadays don't know anything about these cats (and probably don't even care about them, either) but it was cool of Nas to pay homage to them:)

  • Daaam all my favorites on here.. E.s.t., rob base? Yo he still got.. The whole track was live

  • can someone tell me the name of the songs?

  • @tbt4life

The main sample from the original song is "Set it off" by James Brown. I can't give you the names of all of the songs but "They Want EFX" is sampled when Krazy Drayzy raps from 3:15 to 3:33 and "The Choice is Yours" is sampled when Dres spits from 4:10 till 4:28.

  • @Ginga aight thanks fam :)

  • @tbt4life

    No problem.

  • @MissCedarbridge1 Mike G is a member of the Jungle Brothers who was in the native tongue posse with a tribe called quest, queen latife, & de la soul though they werent as popular as them.

  • Monie Love still got it!

  • DAMN!! This is awesome *_*

  • @annimoni93 Awesome Don't Even Being To Appropriately Describe How Unbelievably Dope This Song Is With So Many Legends Coming Together On One Track. • where are the fake ass rappers now after they listen to this

  • @diynamite45

They should go into hiding. What I love is how these old rappers could STILL rule the game if they wanted to but they're content to just sit back and watch the youngsters embarrass themselves.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!????

    THIS SHIT IS CRAZY FRESH!!!!

I havent even THOUGHT about Redhead Kingpin or Father MC in tha longest fuckin' time!!!

  • Great job w/ the Video!! it's sick!

  • i was born in 1990 and I don't even listen to the radio cuz it mostly plays so-called

    hip-hop.

    this is real hip hop.

  • this remix is my favorite.

  • I've hated Nas since Nastradameus but this kinda redeems him a little .I'm still listening to all the old school stuff there really isn't anything new worth listening to anyway.Instead of crying about how Hip Hop is dead and how bad it sucks just go back and listen to the stuff you haven't heard from the 80's and 90's.

  • 90!

  • nas payin homage.....this nigga not only one of the greatest...but he a fan too

  • Pfft! Put this on the radio and I might listen since for the first time since Clinton was in office.

Stop calling that bullshit on the radio "Hip Hop".

  • Damn, chip fu killed it

    i miss this era

  • The last 4 artists definitely bring back memories... I was madly into hip-hop during the early and mid 90-s, and, of course, I believe it to be the golden era of hip-hop.

  • o0o0o0oo00 Dres is my fav on the list

  • I was born in 1991 and I personally like old school shit so much more than the stupid hip pop shit that's on the radio nowadays... Yea... Fuck Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and all those other clowns...

  • Born in 92. Same here

  • born in 85 and been laughing at the radio since 96

  • OMG, I remember ALL of these rap artist. Anybody that's over 30 are most likely going to know who these guys are.

  • wow your in 4 a suprise, i bearly turned 16 & i know ALL of them,.

  • Knowing them and experiencing them are totally different. You may heard of these guys, but you weren't around or you were a toddler when these guys was at their popularity. I was around when these guys were hit in the late 80s and early 90s. I was in middle and high school when these guys came out. I can know about Earth, Wind, and Fire, but that doesn't mean that I experience them or been around when they were real popular. Se the difference?

  • well yeah. but all i listen to these days are old school rap song because i could tell whats good & whats bad music.

  • What's the difference? It doesnt mean you cant feel these artists as much just because you wasn't alive when they was rapping. I'm 17 years old and I get the same feeling you probably get when you listen to it. So really there's no difference, except you're luckier cause you got to experience it, but it doesnt mean i'm not as true of a fan as you.

  • Well said man. I'm 18 and I definitely prefer 90s rap to the majority of today's rap. I was too young to follow rap at the time but just because I wasn't fan of an artist from the start doesn't mean I'm not fan. I wish Dres' verse was longer but it was great nonetheless.

  • I'm not even dissing the new dudes. But if U can't FEEL the difference listening to old school... OMG!!

  • people who are trying to become rappers need to study 70s-now

  • Hard.

  • Very enlightening video. I'm glad someone had the desire to put all these folks (arguably some of the most talented in rap music) into a song showcasing their work in a positive light. Some of the artists I thought I'd never get to hear from again.

I think a lot of kids today who think they know rap should investigate the late eighties/early nineties, the mix tapes, etc. There were a lot of influential folks who are seemingly forgotten now.

  • not arguably. no

unquestionably some of the most talented in hiphop.

but the rest i agree on 100 percent. so not taking nothing from you just adding on to it :)

  • Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU for posting this! Which of Nas' albums is this on?

  • hip hop is dead

the album name i mean not literally

  • well it aint in the album. the original "where are they now?" is there but this aint.. 2 bad tho

  • It's also on an album called Nas - The Prophecy

  • 0:50 sick instrumental. 2 bad it wasnt on the whole track :/

  • AH SHIT.....this brings a tear to my eye. Last verse was sick with Das EFX, LOTU, FU-Schnickens, and Black Sheep. God bless early 90's hip hop.

  • wheres the guitar riff from??? is it Eric.B or BDK, i can't remember

  • BDK "Set it off"

  • Original Sample is James Brown's Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved

  • cool man, i thought i'd heard it before but with the amount of songs by bdk i'm not even trying to find it.

  • That shit was hot Nas

  • Niiiice visuale Peeeace

  • thank god 4 hip-hop the e.s.t was the greatest rapper ever outta philly

  • man, that was sum fire shit right there son!! Word!!

  • almost forgot... Mad props on the mix, Cognitiv. We may not have heard 'em in a minute, but they all showed that the never lost it, either. This is the real ish right here!!! I was bobbin' my head from beginning to end

  • if they ever had a battle rap, everybody we just heard would mop the floor with the majority of the people in the game now. Nobody has that flow. Soulja Boy? No Kryptonite necessary to take him out...

  • Off the hook i grew up with every single one of those artists...some of these cats were more famous in the 80's like Rob Base and Monie Love, but everyone else hit in the 90's, including Nas and he still here!

  • chip is a beast

  • 1. Rakim
