  • where you buy that?

  • That is so cool!

  • Who put a Lenovo sticker on the poor 701C

  • Ibm sucks where's the track pad, its not a big keyboard its a small netbook

  • @cjbht1 The red dot thing, the trackpoint, like a joystick. They still have it on their new models alongside the trackpad.

  • That is so fucking amazing.. IBM made some of the most revolutionary laptops. The Thinkpads were the first laptops to incorporate PCMCIA slots, CD Drives, and illuminated keyboards. They were also the first to support projection display, by literally removing the back of the LCD screen.

  • if all netbooks had these keyboards, the world would be a better place.

  • I have two of these. They're 486, 75 Mhz, with 40 MB RAM; there were lower-end models. The keyboard doesn't add much thickness to it-it's about twice as thick as a modern laptop keyboard. Putting it in a netbook would add about 1/8th of an inch. (Yes, the Thinkpad 701s were pretty thick laptops - but there are three circuit boards layered in there,) I'd love to see this keyboard on a 10" netbook, but the problem is that the keyboard was very expensive to make-the Thinkpad 701 started at $4000.

  • @damnbunni 75 mhz lol a psp a handheld is faster running at 333mhz

  • @geekforlifevandc my phone is faster at 1,000

this is 15 years older though

You're comparing an ARM to an Intel?

  • @MirageBistro ARM vs Intel, ARM wins clock for clock. Just sayin'

  • @myid9876543

    Oh yeah.

  • I came.

  • sweet!

  • THAT is cool!

  • Whoa! That's what I call a design!

  • Its magic, they should definitely bring it back!

As for newer Lenovo's I have 2 and I think they are OK, 4/5...

  • funky!

  • That is the slickest piece of engineering ever.

That keyboard's all "FUCK YOU, I AIN'T GETTING CRUSHED!" *laters*

  • nice! really missed this one.

though it'd probably never be built again, not that it's difficult, but there's just no need. cost aside, it adds to the thickness of the machine to intolerable levels by today's standards, and that the screen must be really small to require this technology.

i used the newer lenovo thinkpads, and while I can't say for the entire lineup, my new x series were markedly improved, much to my relief. I only speak for myself.

  • even if the computer was small like the Eee or the MSI Wind, i probly wouldnt buy it because it would look clunkyish.

  • There's a point when a computer is too small to be a practical main computer anyway. i mean, the iTouch is practically a NetBook, but thing is i struggle with the touchscreen due to my homer simpson hands. I really can't say too much about the EEE PC, seeing as i've never used one. Of course, netbooks aren't meant to be main computers.

  • imagine if Lenovo is building that now. lol. i dont want to know how many people are suffering with the poor build quality and horrible tech support.

  • looks like a bunch of crap would get stuff in there, like chip crumbs and such

  • only if u treat ur laptop like that
