i live in fort worth texas and the only population in this state are in the guadalupe mountains, but i think the population in the ozarks of arkansas are closer to me.

I knew there were bears around here (North Carolina) and even in other places I've lived (Michigan, Minnesota) but I guess you really *don't* consider that they are in fact, just about all over the USA. What lovely animals they are!
It is interesting to compare the features and characteristics of black bears and polar bears. Although their environments are very different, I think they look and move more similarly than some of the other bear species.
They both seem to adapt very well to whatever climate and conditions exist in the zoos they are in, too.
