Check out the book "Beatles Gear" by Andy Babiuk, it's a great story about all the different instruments they used during their career.

Brian Epstein had just died and Paul basically "took over" and got what he wanted. "Walrus was regulated to the B side. The looks that John and RIngo give one another here kind of tell that story to me like "whatever makes him happy."

Having more A-sided hits means that your songs are more popular and more commercial than the B-sided ones. These guys were always fighting for the A-sides. Getting the B-side kinda meant that your song lost to the better one. In theory. Hence, that expression that John made to RIngo kind of explains that to the two of them. Like, "whatever".
