This man is a coward. It is not the job of the soldier to Interpret his orders but instead to follow them without question. This is not a case for "imperialistic Domination" but instead a sorry excuse to not go to war. Article 94 UCMJ; Mutiny: Any person who refuses to obey lawful military orders. A crime punishable by death. I refuse to call this man a lieutenant because he has not earned that title. He should be shot for desertion.
Don't pay attention to the brainwashed idiots that fail to read true history but instead watch yellow journalism to get their education. We cannot continue to sacrifice our soldiers to spread imperialism and to be killed for corporations that want to enter the country through aggression just to steal resources. No more tyranny...
I'm sorry but he was ridiculous. If he would have deployed, he'd be home and discharged by now - protesting. I'm against the war, too, but he is wrong. I'm not going to wish punishment on him, but he isn't even going to get a footnote in all of this. No disrespect to him or the cause, but he made a mistake.
This is all out of content , The whole conversation started with what a coward watanda is !!!! He was then and still is and now your off on other subjects , controlling oil has nothing to do with the cowardly act that watanda commited !!!
You are partially right on the oil NOW but not then , Who do you want to control the oil , THE IRAQIES OR THE TERRORIST ?? Better think hard and figure out how the Iraqies will keep control of it . Its a vicious circle and if our troops dont help to fight for what is the Iraqies , who will ? See you need to figure out the problems all of them before posting about what used to be or how it should have been done , im talking now content NOT THE FRIGGING PAST TENSE !!
Who might I ask risk and took the lives of over 5000 people in a few hours of terrorism ? Was it the USA or the Bush Admin. Dont think so .and you think to sit back and not do anything was the answer ? all I can say is grow up and think like a man not a mouse !!!!!!!!!!! What us Texans did in 1955 has no bearing on the problem of terrorism today , keep to the subject or turn off your computer . GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS that protect idiots !
Liberating Afghanistan was a good decision. Invading Iraq was to secure oil supplies at a time when relations with Saudi Arabia was cooling. We invaded on false intelligence and alienated our allies globally. This sounds a lot like Vietnam when Johnson got us involved with false intelligence during the phantom North Vietnamese gunboat "attack" on our ships. This is the second Vietnam except its worse this time because there are more than two groups fighting for power. Its more like 5 or 6.
and the Americans don't know the answer to "why they hate us"? Spreading the message of peace and liberty by carpet-bombing, by wiping out whole towns? Why wouldn't the victims of such brutality cry "Death to America!"
American wars, coups, assassinations & sabotage have killed millions of innocent people around the world! Iran 1953, Guatemala 1954, Iraq 1963 and 1968 (installed Saddam), Cuba 1961, Vietnam Laos 1962, Indonesia 1965 that installed Soeharto, Bolivia 1967, Cambodia 1970, Chile 1973, Afghanistan 1979, Nicaragua 1981, Honduras Panama 1989, Venezuela 2002. These are not "conspiracy theories", google up these keywords, the US Government calls them "covert operations" instead of "war crimes"!
LMAOOOOOO @ Shultzqti, you must be an idiot too.Watada is a tresonist. The war was going on when he signed up and now he just walks away from it , and you thank him ,Your as big of a joke as he is . What COWARD, he must signed up to impress someone and get fame and glory , hahahaha , I hope he lands his cowardly ass in jail where he should be treated no better than the terrorist. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS , that keep freedom of speech going for cowards and idiots.
The easy choice would have been to ship off like a sheep. It's hard to stand up to patriotic and military conditioning to think rationally.
The war is unjust, and this illegally elected cabal must be stopped. No disrespect to our troops in the theater. They are bravely doing what they were told is best for our country.
lol, "he stood up for us", Do these people say that about the almost 4,000 U.S. troops that went downrange and didn't come back? I doubt it. Bottom line is, he signed the contract, went through training, and probably thought he would deploy away from the middle east; when he finds out his unit is going to Iraq, the war became "immoral" to him. This guys a laugh and he violated his oath "to defend this country against all enemies foreign and domestic"
He is excercising his duty to not participate in an illegal war, and follow illegal orders. People have been imprisoned for not disobeying orders that are illegal. If someone tells you to waterboard an enemy, a crime for which the US has sentenced others to 15 year hard labour for, it is your duty to disobey. Otherwise you are liable for the crime. 'Just obeying orders' is not a defence, legally.
Where do you get the word illegal war from ? and how the hell did you come to that conclusion? You sound like a terriost to me. Crawl back in your corner and shut the hell up , sicko.
An illegal war is one which has not been agreed to by the UN security council, with the exception of defensive wars. Wars of agression are illegal according to all international protocols, which the US is a signatory to. Also, I'm not sure how you're defining 'terrorist' there, but I'm guessing you've expanded the meaning to anyone critical the US. For the record, I'm a Kiwi.
And you think the terrorist attack on our trade centers was not an act of war , PLEASEEE,just what the hell do you call that and who attacked who first, MR KIWI , stay in your on country and mind your own cowardly business, if you dont know what your talking about .
I do know what I'm talking about, thank you. It was an act of war, the WTC attacks. And New Zealand and Australia helped the US and others in Afghanistan.
But Iraq is not Afghanistan. Iraq had nothing to do with the WTC attack. The US's attack on Iraq was an illegal war of aggression.
OOOOOOO well please tell me where are all the terroist at? Are they ALLLLL IN AFGHANISTAN? Pleaseeeeee keep your stupid comments to yourself . PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SELF FROM YOUR COMPUTER , you are living proof of what the aussies think of you idiots .
Yeah we dont like any other country , that is why the USA is in such debt, humm could it be cause we rush to help and support every country around the world , are we not the first to respond to disasters ? Do we not try to help build and support other countrys? Please disconnect your computer , like I said your living proof of what aussies say about you all. CLICKKKKKKKKKKKK
Yeah, it's been fun. And the US does help support other countries with aid. But so do most other countries as well. NZ sent money when Katrina ravaged the coast of the US, for example.
But helping other countries with aid does not give you the right to invade other countries. That's like saying, because I give money to charity to help the poor, I can hunt random street trash when I feel like it. "They're all the same, those scumbags, lets kill them all."
Listen to him, he sounds like he has a learning deficiency like the rest of america! I have no idea what he is talking about when he says "what the Australians say about Kiwi's" but we are proud to have the NZ troops as our closest allies and I for one would be more comforted knowing I had Kiwi's fighting beside over some retarded yank such as this stereotypical retard who presides to represent his country when he dribbles such crap
This guy calls himself a "man". This pansy here chickened out and didnt want to die he's a coward! You sir are a disgrace to the military! If he really has more spine than me...then he would have been fighting right beside my you dickhead you liberals know NOTHING of war our "congress" has proven that plenty of times!!!
war? you call cutting off heads of civillans notttttttttttttt war? you idiot. You have a big mouth why dont you put your head in front of their sword you idiot.
I dont even want to engage in debate with a stereotypical yankee fukn retard like you, you have nothing of intelligence to say. its obvious you have anger management issue, go see a shrink aye, it's not nice being raped by your father but you should seek therapy for it none the less. =) smiles from down under!!
I dont have the issue of being raped by a father but sounds like you do , and you think I should seek a shrink , that sounds like a personal isssue to me , which I dont care to debate with you . My concern is for our American Troops and the coward that Watada was, good day mate. CLICKKKKKKKKKKKK
if you actually cared about life and everyone's right to it on principle, you would have at the very least asked why are we going to war instead just buying the bullshit you're being told. and if you could actually face the fact NOT opinion that going to war had nothing to do with 911, wmds, saddam's brutal tyranny then you'd ask why should any of our soldier's be in harm's way.
Let me understand your comment if I can , you say we did not go to war because of 9/11 ?? Are you saying we didnt go to war to defend our country ??? Are you saying its ok for the terrorist to come to our United States of American and commit the horrible crimes that they did ??You better wake up boy !! Until you know why we went to war , keep your mouth shut , You see I have a MARINE GRANDSON defending our country while the coward watanda sits home thinking he is honorable , I say treason .
Iraq had nothing to do with the planes crashing into the twin towers. We did not go to war in Iraq because of 9-11, we went for a place to put bases and for oil.
Regime change was the job of the Iraqi people, not us. All we have done is create death, maiming, torture, refugees and chaos. I served in the 82nd Airborne Division and 1/19 Special Forces. I met this brave Lt. when he spoke here in Eugene, Oregon and shook his hand. It was an honor to do so.
You met and shook his hand , and an honor , hahhahaha , ok enough said , your as sick as he is !! get a life , ooo wait you do have one because of our military -not cowards like wtanunda, so yeah I would brag and be honored to shake a cowards hand , if I was you but you see Im not Im a true American that has respect for our Military . Clickkkkkkkkkkkk
This is the reason why many people with a decent sense of intellect will never take you seriously. Only a true coward would risk the lives of Iraqis and Americans by justifying Bush's action of perverting honorable American soldiers to becoming mindless canon folders. History will judge this administration harshly and we all know what Texans like you did in 1965. Shame on you!
Out Troops are for defense, not to advance the political agenda of a coke addled AWOL like Bush who never finished his own handed to him on a silver platter billet in the Air Guard.
Bush and his henchmen should be removed from office and remanded to the Hague for war crime trials. He is a criminal and a disgrace.
I guess Bush created the coward wataunada too huh !! Unplug your computer you sound too stupid to even talk about cowards !!! clickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
He's got more balls than you do moron. You'd be scared shitless of a court marshal. You think being brave means dying for what you believe in, you think he isn't getting death threats already from ignorant pig fuckers like you?
Let me send you a quarter to call someone that gives a shit what kind of threats he gets.He deserves more than threats , I hope he spends life in jail where it belongs.
When 911 happened, many of us who are outside US supported the US government. But now you are killing and raping innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan. How could we support you? I don't like the American Government but I like the county. In addition to killing, these so called brave solders from US have raped more than 100 Iraqi girls over the period of war! Who's going to speak for them? I don't like terrorism but because of what's going on in Iraq, I support Lt. Watada.
Fucking coward should be shot in the streets like a dog. Pussy didn't ever protest at all untill he was gonna have to go. He spent more than a year in the Army while the Iraq war was going and never said shit, then the day he gets deployment orders he all of the sudden has a problem with the war? Coward, coward, coward
YOU'RE THE FUCKING COWARD! i dont see your pussy ass fighting. Lt. Watada is a true american hero who respects the rights of all humans especially those impoverished by american foreign policy and globalization. i will never fight an illegal and unjust war to fill up the rich's pockets. someone seriously needs to strap a helmet on your dumbass and send you to fallujah
we support lt. watada bec. of braveness and courageous stand against the imperialist domination in the sovereign country around the world. SHAME ON YOU MR.BUSH!
Watada is a pig with no honor. He took an oath and now he runs from his oath. I am so sick and itred of people saying the US is an Empire which we obviously are not. I only wish Watada would get the firing squad for this gross and vile act.
A lot of you people respond and assume so quickly without seeing the whole story. It is was when he was preparing to deploy to Iraq when he read up on it; & then decided it was illegal. Up to then he believed what the President was saying and never looked into it. BTW it takes a lot of courage to oppose what everyone accepts. Now if it is true he violated his oath directly he should be punished; but lets not forget why he did.
I want anyone to show me a video of an American Soldier saying or confirming he killed kids and civilians on a purpose or was told to do so! NO no i don't want what you "think" or what you saw on CNN i want confirmation i want facts not blind rhetoric! The sickest people on Earth are those that create their own sick twisted lies to depict others as baby killers. SHOW ME PROOF! SHOW ME PROOF IT WAS FOR OIL. Pictures videos? Anyone?
Actually it's a common misconception that the war was for Oil. Neocons brought on the war (but didn't expect horrible failure), not Oil companies. Read PNAC site. BTW watada swore not oath of enlistment, but oath of commission, which doesn't include the "obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed above me" part. So he's not being tried for disobeying orders, but for missing movement and conduct unbecoming.
For his lack of responsiblity put soldiers under his command at risk! Why did Mr. Watada take so long and so late into the war game to realize his own free will? After signing the contract? He wasn't fooled you are not a fool when you join the military you do as you are told, you loose your rights and that my friend is common sense. R.I.P. for those 3000 dead americans My HEROES!
WATADA SIGNED UP FOR THE SERVICE (no one forced him )WATADA KNEW HE WOULD BE GOING TO IRAQ (did he oppose it then no)WATADA KNEW THAT HE WOULD BE FIGHTING IN A WAR (did he cry religion then noooo)WATADA GOT YELLOW FEET WHEN HE SEEN WHAT HE HAD STEPPED INTO AND CRIED OOO i DONT BELIEVE IN THIS ANY MORE ,i WANT TO GO HOME ,PLAIN AND SIMPLE STORY .NOW QUESTION TO YOU IS WAS HE FORCED TO SIGN UP FOR MILITARY ? KNOW YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU SPOUT OFF !
What about the oath he took , you worry about international law but forgive the oath he took ??????? Do us all a favor and unplug your computer , he didnt do it for the internationl law it was about his religion , duhhhhhh no more comments to you .Like I said learn the fact , he is a yellow bellied coward final response to you !!
Idiot. Watada voluntarily join the military. When you do that you do not get to pick or choose which wars you think are right and which you think are wrong. You loose many, if not, most of your freedoms upon enlistment. Watada has no honor and is a scared child pretending to be virtuious.
Being truly patriotic and American means the ability and freedom to think and speak independently. The current regime has been uncannily effective at marginalizing or demonizing any opinion that conflicts with their agenda. In other words, if even question what we are doing in the so-called war on terror, you are not only unpatriotic but you are helping the "enemy" This type of logic goes against everything this country is supposed to be.
Watada does not seem afraid to go to Iraq at all. Clearly he is doing a much more courageous thing by standing up to this administration. It is unbelievable how much of their propaganda is absorbed and regurgitated by the public. Its sad and shocking (see ORWELL, 1984). Unfortunately, this process of manipulation has been going on for some time, we now see the results of its evolution. Right here in this forum.
People, we are admonished by the founders of our nation to actively question all authority all of the time. To blindly goose-step to the political power structure is morally treasonous and creates dictators like "The Decider". A real patriot, stands-up to government all of the time and never backs down.
Judge declares mistrial in war objector case -- "I can't decide whether this is a good outcome for Lt. Watada or not - and I am tempted to wonder whether the military realizes that it would be too outrageous to find Lt. Watada guilty when our present Commander in Chief is such a notorious AWOLer and the V.P. is such a notorious draft dodger with all 5 of his deferments." good one!
These are the blatant paradoxes that occur when ignorance, political hubris and overt criminals steal the helm of power. "You get the government that you deserve" that from Ben Franklin, if I recall.
"you get the government that you deserve", excellent reference and chillingingly accurate, in a sense. I wonder if it is deserved, if those who asked have been rendered incapable of critical thought. "They" have of course been bred as "consumers" among other things. its an interesting philosophical dilemma. I dont have the answer.
Once again excellent. I totally agree. The vast pogrom to dumb-down and compartmentalize, our society over the decades is ominous, blatantly obvious and Orwellian. The polarity between those that want truth and those that cling to the "state mandated reality" is rapidly expanding. Is it deserved? Hindsight will tell.
I know that everyone who has posted here loves our nation and wants to be free and live a life with honor. I'm not your enemy, I'm a Constitutional Patriot defending the Republic by warning you all of "Collectivism" your real enemy. The insidious lies from the left and right.I'm proud of your passion and anger but, stop fighting an illusion.KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Diamonman007- You seem to know ALL the secrets and conspiracies of our government! Wow, how can one person sitting behind a computer be so intelligent? You should major in political science and not let your natural talent go to waste.
You are too lazy and ignorant to actually do any research and are too afraid to realize that you are being decieved by your leaders. Enjoy your de-illusions slave.
You are just shitting out garbage from your mouth, go ahead and research all you want. You conspiracy theorists are all the same, a bunch of old people who think they've gotten everything figured out by "researching on the internet". In case you didn't know, probally 99% of the shit you read on the internet is fake. Go get a job and stop complaining.
You truly are one of the most angry and pathetic people I've encountered. Sure, there's junk on the internet we all know it. But, you live in fear that you don't have the answers. I can assure you that you don't and only you will pay for your lack of awareness.
Only a manipulated and unexperienced kid like "Pewptypeuty" can believe that "old" people are researching on the internet!
To have an own opinion, you have to grow up, make experiences, be informed by different sources, and take decisions. e.g. Lt Watada, ret. Gen. Schwarzkopf, ret. Gen. Wesley Clark, ret. gen Powell and former US Minister and every intelligent US Citizen: they see and saw the illegality of this war and the lies of GWBush & Co.!
I can see the pathetic mind-conditioning by the ignorant and emotional responses from those who are so hopelessly enslaved that they think they are free. You are mindless reactionaries to the false left-right paradigm that owns your every thought and reaction. You are ping-pong balls bouncing off the illusion of left and right. Good little slave.
Question: Do you want Americans to die for "Universal Fascism"? Yes or No? This is the only question to ask. Why? Bush regime: (Fact) Neo-con, founder (Fact) Leo Strauss. Proponent of Freidrich Nietzsche and founder of "Universal Fascism or Nazism". (Fact) Nietzschean existential acolytes: Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Kristol, Rice, Rove, Clinton, Kerry, Edwards et al. DO THE RESEARCH.
He didn't take a brave stand against the war, he was too much of a coward to go. Fucking liberal scum. I don't see why people would support a political party bent on destroying this country.
First off why dont you take a minute to read between the lines, not saying who is right but "liberal Scum" sounds like extremism, like opening mouth without thinking, its the same ignorance that kept the Nazi Ragime in power. A good society has people brave enough to stand up and ask hard questions in the face of adversity, what hard question have you stood up and asked in the face of adversity?
He had no right to stand up "in the face of adversity", or should we say, completely betray the oath he took? He should rot in Ft. Levenworth, if he's too scared to go to Iraq he should have never enlisted in the first place.
In the officer oath it says nothing about the president, NOTHING. He does not have to stand beside what the president says if he doesnt believe it, although in the UCMJ he can be held on charges of Conduct unbecoming an officer. Now the question that is at hand was the war LEGAL in the sense of the constitution and its ammendments. This is the question he raises, and people who quetion if he is scared or not fail to see the whole picture or are un-able to because of thier own fears or misgivings.
I am afraid 'just following orders' is not a viable defense to following in to an aggressive war. If it was found to be illegal, and any war crimes were thus found to be committed, he would be considered liable.
He was obligated by domestic law to head to Iraq.
He was obligated by international law to not go to Iraq.
He is not frightened, that's clear - he's principled. I don't think he's entirely right - he said he'd be willing to go to Afghanistan, another imperialist occupation. but he's on the right track.
You mean the fascist left or the fascist right? They are both owned by the same power and until you understand that, you are their slave on a leash. You just want to hate. No problem, but hate the real enemy, the global elite who laughs at your ignorance. I was once you, brother.
A hero is one that demonstrates courage not runs from it. It does not take courage to refuse to do your job. Do the job then quit. Millions of people disagree with you few. Yet, you are heard. Just do the job. Only cowards see Watada as a hero.
The job consists in the biggest hold up in all time. Who wants to do such a job when the Commander in Chief will hopefully end up in The Hague and ultimatly in jail?
Can't figure out what your trying to say, but until he is in jail, he is the Commander in Chief, and if he is in jail he will still be CnC, or until he is impeached like your beloved clinton.
Would you drive the trains? Would you load the cattle cars? Would you release the gas? Would you sweep up the ashes? How criminal does criminal have to be before doing the right thing is ok in your book? And what part of piracy doen't you understand?
That's because you can't see. I know you are too stupid to research the Military Commissions Act that is far more draconian than what Hitler put on paper.
I didn't. I inferred that this rogue administration that is doing everything it can to destroy the U.S. Constitution is akin to Nazi War Criminals. Go read the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act--it has nothing to do with patriotism BTW.
Anyone with a brain now knows that the two Iraq wars were a pretext for empirical expansionism. Both parties of the left-right false paradigm have benefited from those illegals wars. Next Iran and Syria then, a full blown nuclear war will manifest from hegemonic narcisisism. Twinkies and Walmart bags will inherit the earth.
Read, the manifesto of death to a Nation-State; "The Project For The New American Century" or PNAC documents. The Adroit and concise pogrom written by the neo-fascists to foment the new Roman Empire and World government and the coming North American Union it will explain everything.
First, your a reader, that's great. But again follower of the great lib sales pitch. Crap written by libs for libs. Good boy. If written by Bush it would be concerning, but it not, so not even good reading material.
PNCA was written by your neo-fascist left-right controllers. William Kristol is the Chairman for your facsist neo-con rulers. Bush is a mindless shill for the global collectivists. Do your research by reading their own words.
Well, it did happen more than 15 minutes ago, which means it was well outside of the typical american political memory. Wikipedia dates the first occupation 2 August 1990 -- 28 February 1991 - thank you for demonstrating just how much people can be brainwashed into forgetting.
He diesn't look like the typical American, so maybe he doesn't feel like he would be defending "his" country. But why did he inlist into the American military in the first place?!?
I'll ignore youre terrible spelling Cillyboo, it doesn't make you a bad person, just like Watade not looking 'typical American' doesn't mean much. Should he look like a real American? RED INDIAN? Or do you mean the USA is only for white people, and that freedom and democracy crap is just spin to justify foreign wars? Lots of people joined to DEFEND the US, not to bully oil rich nations who pose little threat to the US. Why haven't YOU found Osama if you're so much better than Watada?
I even made a typo myself there... Anyhow, when the war is over it will be easy to say why it was wrong... the brave people are the ones with the guts to oppose it NOW.
Sorry 4 my spelling! I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers and I am AGAINST the war aswell. Just tryed to defend the guy, but my point is: Why enlist and not stand by your decision?
OK, let's say you married somebody who seemed like a swell person, but then they started killing your children one by one. How many children would you allow to be killed before you violated your sacred oath to love, honor and cherish? He was wrong to trust bush in the first place, but he's moving in the right direction.
Thankyou lt. For taking our money as your payment in our armed forces. Thankyou lt. for being a coward that you are. Thankyou lt. for reinforcing all the chickshit liberals and empowering them to stand behind there most certain yellow streak called a lt. Thankyou lt. for providing empowerment to those that are trying to kill everyone in the world that does not believe in what there terroristic beliefs are and yours I suppose, and others like yourself.
you ar an ignorant animal, stupid... watada is a real patriot that defends the real interest of americans not the greedy invasions of Bush... ignorant learn who you are defending and then go kill yourself for him that doesnt give shit about you
Coward? For facing jail instead of going off to kill Iraqis? he'd have good odds in Iraq, 655,000 dead Iraqis v aboput 3,000 dead US troops, but he doesn't want to kill innocent Iraqis to make them 'believe' in Washinton's terrorist plan. Chickenshit = bombing civilians from the air, brave = doing the right thing even when it's hard. Watada is no coward.
Así como hay grandes hombres que mueren por su país cuando la causa es justa, hay muchos que también entienden la diferencia entre el bien y el mal y defienden la inteligencia de ser mejores seres humanos. Feliciadaes Lt. Watada. Usted cuenta con mi apoyo.
This man is a coward. It is not the job of the soldier to Interpret his orders but instead to follow them without question. These are not "conspiracy theories", google up these keywords, the US Government calls them "covert operations" instead of "war crimes"!

The easy choice would have been to ship off like a sheep. It's hard to stand up to patriotic and military conditioning to think rationally.
The war is unjust, and this illegally elected cabal must be stopped. No disrespect to our troops in the theater. They are bravely doing what they were told is best for our country.

OMG IF YOU THINK THAT MAKES SENSE , THINK AGAIN , only idiots find excuses for what he did. oohrah
texasme2 4 years ago
lol, "he stood up for us", Do these people say that about the almost 4,000 U.S. troops that went downrange and didn't come back? I doubt it. Bottom line is, he signed the contract, went through training, and probably thought he would deploy away from the middle east; when he finds out his unit is going to Iraq, the war became "immoral" to him. This guys a laugh and he violated his oath "to defend this country against all enemies foreign and domestic"
scooniepenn 4 years ago
He is excercising his duty to not participate in an illegal war, and follow illegal orders. People have been imprisoned for not disobeying orders that are illegal. If someone tells you to waterboard an enemy, a crime for which the US has sentenced others to 15 year hard labour for, it is your duty to disobey. Otherwise you are liable for the crime. 'Just obeying orders' is not a defence, legally.

mysty0 4 years ago
Where do you get the word illegal war from ? and how the hell did you come to that conclusion? You sound like a terriost to me. Crawl back in your corner and shut the hell up , sicko.
texasme2 4 years ago
An illegal war is one which has not been agreed to by the UN security council, with the exception of defensive wars. Wars of agression are illegal according to all international protocols, which the US is a signatory to. Also, I'm not sure how you're defining 'terrorist' there, but I'm guessing you've expanded the meaning to anyone critical the US. For the record, I'm a Kiwi.
trismagestus 4 years ago
And you think the terrorist attack on our trade centers was not an act of war , PLEASEEE,just what the hell do you call that and who attacked who first, MR KIWI , stay in your on country and mind your own cowardly business, if you dont know what your talking about .
texasme2 4 years ago
I do know what I'm talking about, thank you. It was an act of war, the WTC attacks. And New Zealand and Australia helped the US and others in Afghanistan.
But Iraq is not Afghanistan. Iraq had nothing to do with the WTC attack. The US's attack on Iraq was an illegal war of aggression.
trismagestus 4 years ago
OOOOOOO well please tell me where are all the terroist at? Are they ALLLLL IN AFGHANISTAN? Pleaseeeeee keep your stupid comments to yourself . PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SELF FROM YOUR COMPUTER , you are living proof of what the aussies think of you idiots .
texasme2 4 years ago
Are you saying that, with the tenuous definition of 'terrorist' that anyone you define as one should be killed?
Iraq was a sovereign state, not an irregular collection of fighters against a legal government. A country, not a terrorist group.
In fact, if that's all that's needed, why not invade every other country the US doesn't like? This apparently covers all other countries, however.
trismagestus 4 years ago 3
Yeah we dont like any other country , that is why the USA is in such debt, humm could it be cause we rush to help and support every country around the world , are we not the first to respond to disasters ? Do we not try to help build and support other countrys? Please disconnect your computer , like I said your living proof of what aussies say about you all. CLICKKKKKKKKKKKK
texasme2 4 years ago
Yeah, it's been fun. And the US does help support other countries with aid. But so do most other countries as well. NZ sent money when Katrina ravaged the coast of the US, for example.
But helping other countries with aid does not give you the right to invade other countries. That's like saying, because I give money to charity to help the poor, I can hunt random street trash when I feel like it. "They're all the same, those scumbags, lets kill them all."
As I say, it's been fun, mate =J

if you actually cared about life and everyone's right to it on principle, you would have at the very least asked why are we going to war instead just buying the bullshit you're being told. and if you could actually face the fact NOT opinion that going to war had nothing to do with 911, wmds, saddam's brutal tyranny then you'd ask why should any of our soldier's be in harm's way.
18bites 3 years ago
Let me understand your comment if I can , you say we did not go to war because of 9/11 ?? Are you saying we didnt go to war to defend our country ??? Are you saying its ok for the terrorist to come to our United States of American and commit the horrible crimes that they did ??You better wake up boy !! Until you know why we went to war , keep your mouth shut , You see I have a MARINE GRANDSON defending our country while the coward watanda sits home thinking he is honorable , I say treason .
texasme2 3 years ago
Iraq had nothing to do with the planes crashing into the twin towers. We did not go to war in Iraq because of 9-11, we went for a place to put bases and for oil.
Regime change was the job of the Iraqi people, not us. All we have done is create death, maiming, torture, refugees and chaos. I served in the 82nd Airborne Division and 1/19 Special Forces. I met this brave Lt. when he spoke here in Eugene, Oregon and shook his hand. It was an honor to do so.

The sickest people on Earth are those that create their own sick twisted lies to depict others as baby killers. SHOW ME PROOF! SHOW ME PROOF IT WAS FOR OIL. Pictures videos? Anyone?
neolink101 5 years ago
Actually it's a common misconception that the war was for Oil. Neocons brought on the war (but didn't expect horrible failure), not Oil companies. Read PNAC site. BTW watada swore not oath of enlistment, but oath of commission, which doesn't include the "obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed above me" part. So he's not being tried for disobeying orders, but for missing movement and conduct unbecoming.
stopcrazypp 5 years ago
For his lack of responsiblity put soldiers under his command at risk! Why did Mr. Watada take so long and so late into the war game to realize his own free will? After signing the contract? KNOW YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU SPOUT OFF !
texasme2 3 years ago
This has already been thoroughly explained to you.
1. There was nothing to say that signing up would send him to the Iraq war.
2. Signing up to the military does not remove your obligations to international law.
3.The Iraq war was an aggressive action and was therefore illegal. By knowing this, he was obliged under international war not to head to Iraq.
Even the supreme court of the US realised this.
yedrellow 3 years ago
What about the oath he took , you worry about international law but forgive the oath he took ??????? Do us all a favor and unplug your computer , he didnt do it for the internationl law it was about his religion , duhhhhhh no more comments to you .Like I said learn the fact , he is a yellow bellied coward final response to you !!
texasme2 3 years ago
@yedrellow 1. Joining the military, implies that you have no moral obligation to go to war on your country's behalf.
2. True, however international law does not forbid the invasion in Iraq.
3. Aggressive action is not illegal jackass. War itself is aggressive. The military does not exist only for self defense purposes.

Being truly patriotic and American means the ability and freedom to think and speak independently. The current regime has been uncannily effective at marginalizing or demonizing any opinion that conflicts with their agenda. In other words, if even question what we are doing in the so-called war on terror, you are not only unpatriotic but you are helping the "enemy" This type of logic goes against everything this country is supposed to be.
elrito1 5 years ago
Watada does not seem afraid to go to Iraq at all. Clearly he is doing a much more courageous thing by standing up to this administration. It is unbelievable how much of their propaganda is absorbed and regurgitated by the public. Its sad and shocking (see ORWELL, 1984). Unfortunately, this process of manipulation has been going on for some time, we now see the results of its evolution. Right here in this forum.

People, we are admonished by the founders of our nation to actively question all authority all of the time. To blindly goose-step to the political power structure is morally treasonous and creates dictators like "The Decider". A real patriot, stands-up to government all of the time and never backs down.
diamondman007 5 years ago
Judge declares mistrial in war objector case -- "I can't decide whether this is a good outcome for Lt. Watada or not - and I am tempted to wonder whether the military realizes that it would be too outrageous to find Lt. Watada guilty when our present Commander in Chief is such a notorious AWOLer and the V.P. is such a notorious draft dodger with all 5 of his deferments." good one!
mattlove1 5 years ago
These are the blatant paradoxes that occur when ignorance, political hubris and overt criminals steal the helm of power. "You get the government that you deserve" that from Ben Franklin, if I recall.
diamondman007 5 years ago
"you get the government that you deserve", excellent reference and chillingingly accurate, in a sense. I wonder if it is deserved, if those who asked have been rendered incapable of critical thought. "They" have of course been bred as "consumers" among other things. its an interesting philosophical dilemma. I dont have the answer.
elrito1 5 years ago
Once again excellent. I totally agree. The vast pogrom to dumb-down and compartmentalize, our society over the decades is ominous, blatantly obvious and Orwellian. The polarity between those that want truth and those that cling to the "state mandated reality" is rapidly expanding. Is it deserved? Hindsight will tell.

Pewptypeupty 5 years ago
First off why dont you take a minute to read between the lines, not saying who is right but "liberal Scum" sounds like extremism, like opening mouth without thinking, its the same ignorance that kept the Nazi Ragime in power. A good society has people brave enough to stand up and ask hard questions in the face of adversity, what hard question have you stood up and asked in the face of adversity?
whiteyguy2525 5 years ago
He had no right to stand up "in the face of adversity", or should we say, completely betray the oath he took? He should rot in Ft. Levenworth, if he's too scared to go to Iraq he should have never enlisted in the first place.
Pewptypeupty 5 years ago
In the officer oath it says nothing about the president, NOTHING. He does not have to stand beside what the president says if he doesnt believe it, although in the UCMJ he can be held on charges of Conduct unbecoming an officer. Now the question that is at hand was the war LEGAL in the sense of the constitution and its ammendments. This is the question he raises, and people who quetion if he is scared or not fail to see the whole picture or are un-able to because of thier own fears or misgivings.
whiteyguy2525 5 years ago
So if he disobeys orders from the Commander-in-Chief, it's ok?
"that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion;"
Pewptypeupty 5 years ago
I am afraid 'just following orders' is not a viable defense to following in to an aggressive war. If it was found to be illegal, and any war crimes were thus found to be committed, he would be considered liable.
He was obligated by domestic law to head to Iraq.
He was obligated by international law to not go to Iraq.
