The wheels actually improve the physics of how it operates; the rocking helps it throw smoother. It it had laid flat on the ground, you'd see a slight performance drop.

our world record is 1702 feet. but the castle is only 500 feet from thr front of the machine.

I've seen this live. Really neat. You can't see it in the video, but there is a castle up on a hill that the pumpkins hit. Fun stuff.
