Guy was faking it because you applied it wrong. elbow needs to be centered more. If you actually squeezed with that you'd likely crush your friends windpipe.
Here's a little piece of advice. instead of using your forearm to choke, use the pit between the forearm and the biceps. The objective is to try to block the opponents carotid arteries, not crush his wind pipe. Good video though ;)
