There is a lot of reasons. One of them is to hear what are people writing to you, when they do not talk. And still lot of people do not talk all the time from a lot of reasons. So this is very good combination to have both. Another is when you don't want people to hear your real voice. And the most important - you can here this way objects too, so no need to read at all then. Thats just few reasons...
